Photoshop :: Can't Fresh Install From CS2 - CDs App Install Option Is (Grayed Out)?
Mar 14, 2013I have CS2 Premium which I'm running on an older PowerPC Mac (G5 - Dual 2.3 GHz ) running OS 10.4.11. I've had this setup for many many years (registered/activated with Adobe) but suddenly one day I could no longer launch my Photoshop app: when I clicked on the Pshop icon it would start the launch (open) procedure ... and then almost instantly it would quit (in just a few seconds ... before the application even got to the 'title/credit' screen).
I've recently tried uninstalling CS2 (everything except Acrobat) and I ended up doing a manual uninstall of Version Cue. I've been on Macs for 20+ years so figured this would be a pretty straightforward procedure - uninstall -> reinstall and then back to work. Nope.
I'm attempting a fresh installation direct from the original CS2 CDs. In any event, when I try to (re)install CS2 - and after going through the standard screens with Adobe's usage terms agreement and installation hard disk selection - I arrive at the screen where one selects which application(s) to install by checking the various boxes (or alternately, to install the entire suite) but the 'Adobe Photoshop CS2/Adobe ImageReady CS2' line and checkbox are grayed out, so it will not allow me to check them and continue with the Photoshop installation process.

Sep 28, 2008I am an amateur who uses CS2 for my own purposes, chopping images fiddling with them for my own websites.
The thing is I find the mouse a real pain to use when it comes to using pen or lasso tools, etc. I recently wondered about buying some kind of Wacom style pad and pen, as I think that might be a more intuitive input method, but am not sure how suitable they would be for an amateur like me.
Any thoughts on decent models for this type of user (I can't justify a fortune for this), how easy are they to learn to use, etc.
Running XP, DW8 and CS2.

Jan 9, 2013Paths flatness device pixels -if no value is placed in box is it then defaulted to .2 pixels. The STD for our situation requires placing 1 pixel for the flatness.
These are 300 dpi images & as I understand for the web only. I do not understand why 1 pixel is so important as it must be placed in the field manually for every image.
What would be the difference if no # or 1 pixel is placed in the area - for both web & print.
Photoshop :: No External Video Device Detected
Jun 30, 2009I am using photoshop cs4 and was just wandering if this version still has the ability to preview a still image of what you are working on via firewire output? I know you could in other versions but I do not see it anywhere under the file/export menu. I have a device conected and it works fine with Premiere and After effects but I do not see it show up in Photoshop. Anything I need to setup to make this work?

Feb 23, 2014After I upgraded to Windows 8.1, PSE 11 no longer finds my IOGEAR GFR209 card reader with an SDHC card in it when I try to import pictures - with Windows 8 I had no problems. I get the message "Device Not Found" in Photo Downloader when I go: Organizer > File > Get Photos and Videos > From Camera or Card Reader. I tried doing a "Refresh List" but it made no difference.
I can though, see the reader, SDHC card and all its image files in Windows File Explorer, so my PC is recognizing the device. I also tried re-insalling PSE 11 and then updating it by going Help > Updates ... but it made no difference.
Photoshop :: Live Animation Preview On Separate Device?
May 19, 2013I'm wondering if I can use "File > Export > Send video to preview device" to play an open timeline document on a separate monitor, while at the same time working on the document on my computer.
For example, I want to do an animation demonstration. I want to be able to work on the animation on my computer (adding new frames/video layers, and drawing on them), and have a preview of the whole video play continuously on a separate monitor, without me having to stop and and switch back and forth between working and previewing.
I'm using Photoshop CS6 on a Macbook Pro, OSX v10.6.8

Sep 15, 2012I installed photoshop and it worked fine but after restarting my computer it wont open and gives me the "Windows cannot access the specified device, path, or file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to access the item" The only way i have got on photoshop since is on safe mode or by completely reinstalling photoshop until i restart my computer again. Is there anything wrong, I don't know if AVG is blocking something or what.

Jun 20, 2012I have custom profiles (created in ProfileMaker 5.0.10) for 9 Canon iPF5100/6100/8300 printers installed on my Mac OS X 10.6.8 MacPro. All worked fine using CS5 and CS5.5. They are Printer(X)-(Paper Type).After installing CS6 the Photoshop print dialogue Profile list doesn't show these profiles any more.
I've confirmed that the profiles are there and are working fine by running the CS5.5 versions of PS but they won't show up in the CS6 PS Print Profile menu. They also appear and work in the CS6 PS Soft Proofing dialogue.A question similar to this appeared in the PS CS6 beta forum, but was never answered.

Feb 27, 2013I'm running a trial version of Photoshop CS6 Extended and can't find the WYSIWYG plug-in for my Matrox device which I think I should be able to access via File>Export.
I've reinstalled the drivers for my device so it shouldn't be that.Could it be that this feature isn't supported in trial versions?

Mar 24, 2014In trying to get to grips with the Color management aspects of PSE11, I have encountered the following problems: Having selected "Display" a sequence of clicks (Change display settings -> Advanced settings -> Colour Management -> Colour Management tab -> Colour Management) gives a screen which includes the headings:Device Profile and Viewing Conditions Profile.
1. Device Profile. Besides sRGB and ARGB, the profile list includes the profiles for all of the Epson papers.I changed the Profile to an Epson Grayscale, this was accepted within the menu, but there are no changes from normal when I viewed the image on the Windows screen or within PSE11. ("normal" is sRGB or ARGB). I thought it worth a try to test that, if I wanted the display image to closely represent what I would get on a particular Epson paper, this may be a way to do it.So what is the purpose of all of the paper Profiles appearing in the Display listing?
2. The Viewing Conditions Profile has also several options. I have tried to find the criteria for choosing one rather than the other, but failed to find any information. I seek general guidance rather than the details of the Profiles.
Selecting Image on the PSE11 menu across the top of the displayed image, and then Convert Colour Profile, I tried this process on an image, converting tiff to sRGB. When saved there was an extra asterisk in the saved title but in this case, the file was still labelled tiff and there was no change in the number of Mbs. If a conversion has taken place, how is one to know? Does saving a tiff file as jpeg change its colour profile? When is it useful to use this feature?

Dec 8, 2012I just bought Photoshop Elements 11 recently and I'm trying to import photos and videos from my phone, Samsung Galaxy SIII, but having a little trouble.
When I go to "Import from Camera or Card Reader" option and choose my phone from the "Get photos from" drop down menu in "Source" section the "Photo downloaded" finds every single photo and/or video stored on the device and it's memory card but I'm trying to import only photos and/or videos I've shot my self with the phone, witch is kept in an folder named DCIM, but I simply can't figure out how to so my question is: How do I import photos and/or videos from my Android device?

May 20, 2012I tried to use the trial version of VS 11plus with a Honestech Vidbox NW03 video capture device. I wanted to use VS11plus because I was unhappy with the video quality of Honestech VHS to DVD software. The VS wouldn't allow me to use the Vidbox even after uninstalling the Honestech software. I also tried using VS after uninstalling the Vidbox software. The only device that ever worked with VS for me was a Easy cap. Is Easycap the only device that works with VS or did I do something wrong? I have Vista Home Basic, 2.16GHZ, 3GB Ram and 250GB Hard drive on my laptop.

Feb 22, 2012 I've never had to rebuild a PC for drafting until now. We are using a VERY old batch processing program called ScriptEase. However, on the rebbuilt PC, when processing a batch, AutoCAD will not prceed because it stops and says:
"Can not use None device for plotting"
How, in the plot settings, can the correct printer and paper sized be saved? I've looked all over and cannot get it to save. Under the options and Print and Plot Devices, it is there but when manually going to PLOT, it just says NONE and will not remember the default printer.

GIMP :: Select Input Device
Nov 21, 2013I recently bought a graphics tablet. Sometimes it works perfectly, and sometimes it doesn't do pressure sensitivity. I've narrowed it down to a single thing. This window here:
When it works, the Stylus is selected, when it doesn't work, the Core Pointer is selected.
So how can I switch the currently selected one? Clicking doesn't work, there's no button in the configure input device dialog.
Things I've tried:
- Plugging in the tablet before starting gimp
- Plugging in the tablet after starting gimp
- Rebooting (this seems to work, for the first time I open gimp after a reboot)
No matter what I do, it seems mostly random as to which is selected.

Apr 10, 2013The printer setting - I could never save it.For my label printer LP2844, every time I print, it defaults to Width=4.88 and Height=11.00 and some unprintable area settings. Every time I do my first printing, I have to change it (to 4"x6"). I have gone thru my Windows printer device setting (properties, preferences, advanced, etc) and I have removed the printer device, deleted and driver, reinstalled everything and it still does it.Then I try it on another PC. Same thing.Paint shop Pro X4 Pro V14.3.0.3 licensed version. I paid for it.It seems like Paint shop saves its own printer saving somewhere and I can't re-save it.

Jul 25, 2013 I have X4 Pro, X5 and X6 Ultimate installed on my computer; as well as, a few older versions of ULead software. I keeping getting this message: "device error. Cannot open the wave-in device" every time I try to use the microphone option in X6 to try and narrate my video.
The microphone option works fine in X5...
The trouble is I am using the track motion option from X6 in my video, so I cannot open the video in X5. Is it some sort of driver problem, or is there a corrupt file that needs replacing etc...

Mar 26, 2012Any good analog capture device that works well in X4 or X5 I get all the usual problems, Fail to build capture graph, No Audio device shown in the list and so on. I have had every version of Video Studio since version 10 and it’s the only one that will work with these capture devices I am using 3 devices, K World USB 2800, Roxio video capture device USB, and Pinnacle 710 USB They all work great in Video Studio 10 and won’t work in any version higher than that I was hoping X5 might be the ticket but no luck. So I have a version of 10 just for analog capture All X Versions work fine with my HD cameras via firewire or mini DV from other camcorders But will not work at all with USB capture devices ?
