I like to work in Photoshop in the old style with floating windows and palettes above my desktop and files appearing in their own window and not as tabs.
I have turned off the new interface in Photoshop CC, but I still get a large "Master Window" appearing behind the first file I open. When I click to close this window it closes my file too! How can I get rid of that big Master window?
My workflow depends on being able to see my desktop while I work on images in PS. CS6 now has an application background (canvas?) that prevents this:Â

View 3 Replies View RelatedEver since CS4 came out I feel like I've been less productive in Photoshop due to annoying window dock/snapping. Windows are constantly sticking and resizing themselves in ways that blocks the work I am trying to do.
Also the main image itself automatically resizes to feet the work space and I find this also an annoyance. This is my main question: How can I disable "sticky" windows? In fact if there a way to get the old classic skin back that would be great, also...
because all the programs in CS4 are missing a handle bar at the top of the window, making it difficult to find a place to click to drag the window around...which also wastes time. Sometimes the classic skin is visible underneath buttons in graphic glitches..
Finally, is there a way to disable hardware acceleration completely? My processor is fast enough that it can complete tasks faster than the latency of accessing the GPU, so hardware acceleration actually slows things down. Also the hardware code has bugs in it that prevents me from opening massive images (eg, 21600 x 21600 image crashes).
When I'm using the custom shape tool in CS6, it will often bring up a new window labeled "create custom shape". It's really disruptive and I'd like to know how I can disable it to prevent it from poping up.

Let's say you have an open document. The image is too large for your photoshop window, you only see a part of it.
So, you keep the Space key held, and you drag and drop with your left mouse click.
Without openGL acceleration : the moving ends as soon as you release your mouse.
With openGL acceleration : the moving gradually slows down until it comes to an end, meaning you have zero control over your work window.

And, well, that's enough of a bother for me to give up on OpenGL acceleration.

Any way to get rid of this feature ? I searched everywhere I could, I think I tried every one of photoshop's options, but to no avail.
Photoshop cs5.1. I don't like double click title bar to minimize the window. I don't use it, I don't need it. Isn't there a way to disable it!?
I'm unsing Snow Leopard, but I do have "double-click a windows title bar to minimize" disabled in system preferences > appearance. So photoshop overrides those settings? Maybe I'm missing something?
Adobe instituted the dynamic brushes in CS5 and I'm fine with that. What I'm not fine with is not being able to hide that pop window that's supposed to aid you with knowing how the stylus is positioned in space. It's annoying. I want to hide it, or at least make it smaller.
I do like the brush icon at the tip though and how it changes shape based on angle.
is there still no way to disble / mute the audio monitoring in the source window? I'm aware that one could press G and type in a drastically low audio gain level, but this is a clumsy workaround.

We will alter the Arch Base CAD file layer colors to a muted color for use as our backgorounds. We would sort the Layers by color, so that we could group them together to one base color, so basically layer colors 10-19 would then become 19, 20-29 would be 29, layer colors 30-39 would be 39, etc... If the colors were one of the 9 Base Colors (Red, Yellow, Green...) Red is effectivly the same as color as 10, so then we would make it 19, etc...
In 2007, even thought the sorting was by layer color, the layers rows would remain in the same location until we applied the changes.  But in 2013, if we sort by color then alter the color, the layer row will automatically be re-sorted to its proper position in comparison to all other colors. OK I get that, but, if we are altering 40, 50, 60 layer colors, that auto re-sorting is annoying, because then we need to rescroll to our last location to continue.
So, is there a way to turn off the re-sort until we APPLY the colors.
I'm working on a flyer on a 8x11 canvas, but I want all of the elements I'm working to be transferred to a NTSC video film format. I understand how to a open a NTSC (Video Film Canvas), but I do not understand how to convert a canvas that I'm working to that.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI just got CS5.1 at my job. This must be a preference, but when I adjust the Canvas size, it will constrain the image, rather than cropping the canvas. The Anchor in the Canvas Size menu appears outlined (highlighted?) which indicates that this is something in preferences that I can adjust.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have just installed my newly purchased PSC5 extended software. When I try to use the ACR it will load and I can use it but when I try to open, save or cancel my image I cannot. This is because the ACR window is too 'long' for my Sony desktop window and the buttons I am trying to access are in the 'shadow' of the desktop window. When I try to resize the ACR window to access the buttons it will let me adjust it on the vertical window edges but not on the horizontal window edges. I have to reboot the laptop to do anything at all.

I uninstalled my previous CS6 (standard) and reinstalled CS6 (master). The problem is, I'm not getting any 3D options in Photoshop, which should be included if it's the extended version. How does one automatically check for all product updates and have it install? In past I think CS5 there use to be some sort of update manager application.
I just downloaded Adobe CS6 Master Collection but it seems it does not contain Photoshop CS6 Extended. There are all other CS products and normal Photoshop but why there is no Photoshop CS6 Extended?
View 6 Replies View RelatedFor the record I have a student version of CS5 Master Suite. The crop tool in photoshop defaults all my crops to 1 pixel by 1 pixel. I have tried to commit to the crop and also tried just pressing enter on my keyboard. I have been working around it by using the marquee tool, but it's really slowing me down now that I'm working on finals.

for example:
i want to place an adjustment like Hue/Saturation to just one layer. I want to use that little half shaded circle at the bottom of the layers palette (create a new adjusment layer or fill). and i want it to just effect one layer of my project. So is there a way that i could set it up so that the the adjustment layer would be like a parent to the layer i want effected and it wouldnt effect the layers below the child layer?
Now i know i could just put the layer i want to be adjusted at the bottom of the layer list but for this certain layer, it needs to be above a different layer below it.
On the packaging, there is really cool font and some type of overlay on the text as well, how is this achieved and with what font?
View 9 Replies View RelatedI've installed Adobe Master collection CS4 Trial off the DVD that Adobe kindly sent to me for free, and after using it for 4 days, the trial somehow expired on me for no reasons. Is there a way that I can reset the trial or have it extended? I feel that 4 days is not enough for me to try everything out, and I don't want to be spending big $ if i'm not going to make full used of the software.
View 4 Replies View RelatedAs a new user I really prefer the single window mode but have a real problem in that every time I open a filter the window/box that open opens up underneath the single window and I cant see it without minimising the main gimp window. I've played with the preferences windows management options and seem to have all the file options curves etc on top now (these were opening under the single window at one point) but nothing I do seems to want to make the filter boxes open where I can see them - It's making GIMP quite unpleasant to use.

When I inserted the window into a wall, otherwise the window worked fine, but when I changed the window's Window Inset value, the frame depth changed instead of the frame's location. The frame was originally made by Sweep tool, but now when I made it by Extrusion tool, the window works fine. Anyway, for future purposes, I would like to know how to be able to use the Window Inset parameter with a frame made by Sweep tool. How do I lock the depth of the frame sweep?
