Paint.NET :: Scanned TEXT In JPG Photo - How To Correct Spelling Errors

Jan 27, 2013

I've been using Paint.net for a few years, but only with .jpg photos.  I recently scanned some text as a .jpg and cannot figure out how to correct some spelling errors.

Also, the paper I scanned was far removed from the original, so the white blank areas are full of black artifacts.  Is there some way to have Paint.net recognize the actual test so I can have a clean text copy?

AutoCad :: Check Spelling Of Attribute Within Block

Jul 8, 2011

Is it possible for AutoCAD to check the spelling of an attribute within a block and confirm if it matches a word in a list of names in an excel file or table in another AutoCAD file?

This is required because the attribute then gets exported to be inserted into another database program and the spelling has to be exact otherwise it will error. The list of names to check are colours and there are approx. 100 of them.

What would be perfect is if the attribute is a drop down list which is a live list of the colours in the excel file, but I dont think this is possible?

Photoshop :: How To Get Correct Print Size

Oct 29, 2013

I am editing and saving pictures from a original size from the camera width 2623 pixel( 8.73in) X 4166 pixel(13.887in). I need to make prints as 5x7in and 4x6in. It seems that no matter how I size them in adobe CS6 they will not print in correct size at either URL.... which I use for prints. I also have pictures from my new camera, canon 7d and it's picture size is 3456 poixel(48in) X 5184 pixel(72in) , also can't get these sized correctly.

Photoshop :: Save As Command Not Correct In CS6

Feb 19, 2013

When I use the "pull down"menu and select a file format to "save as" The actual file format name is off by 1.

Example: In the pull down "format" menu the order of the formats is

Scitex (sct)TIF
Photoshop 1.0

When saving "test.psd" as a TIF file, the name in the "save as title box gets a .sct extension (Test.sct). In order to actually save as TIF file I need to select Photoshop 1.0 and the title will receive a tiff.

Photoshop :: Correct Way To Resize Image

May 29, 2013

I have my own large format printer which accepts 54" wide rolls of media. I plan on printing a number of photos on canvas, and am wondering about a few things:

- If I wish to make a 40" x 30" print, what is the correct way to re-size the image in PhotoShop (CS6)? Out of my camera, the images are 4592 x 3448 px, so do I simply punch in 40" x 30" in the "Image Size" menu, and then select "Bicubic Smoother (for enlargement)"? (see attached image).  Or should I just re-size the image in the RIP software?

- Some of the images were shot in Raw, but some as JPG. For the ones that were shot Raw, should I also save them as JPGs before printing, or is TIF better?

Photoshop :: CS6 - Blending Mode Not Looking Correct

Jan 23, 2013

I'm using Photoshop CS6 on a Mac (OS X 10.8.2), and I've run into a wierd problem I've never seen before. I'm creating a seperate layer over a photo, and filling that layer with 50% gray. I then set that layer's blending mode to Overlay. When things are working correctly (and they always have in the past) setting the 50% gray layer to Overlay should render that layer invisible, and it should have no visual effect on the photo underneath.

Suddenly this is not the case, and it looks like the grayscale in the photo beneath the gray layer is much brighter. What's really weird is that I tried to recreate this problem on a couple of other pic files, and the Overlay blending mode works fine there! So the problem seems to be only with this one file. Changing the file from CMYK to RGB seems to lessen the effect, but it's still present.

Surely the artist doesn't go around the street snapping photos of people and then transfer them onto to the computer. Is there a database of these pics people can use?

Photoshop :: How To Get Correct Color Screen Display

Nov 24, 2013

I photograph a bright red car in raw mode on a digital slr (Canon 20D) set to Adobe rgb 1998  and view it in Breeze Browser and it looks just as I remember it. I open it into Pshop CS5 extended (which is set to Adobe rgb1998, Europe ISO Coated Fogra27, (as I am UK and this is what a calibration company set our works proofer to)  gray gamma 2.2 dot gain 20% and its become a little desaturated.

Sampling it and comparing screens and colours with Breeze Browser its definitely less red, a bit more orange red instead. I need to up saturation to return the red, both in RAW converter and also after image opened if not done so beforehand in RAW converter. Colors just look muted.

What tests can I carry out to find out what is going on ?

Perhaps create a rgb 255 0 0 image in a way not influenced by photoshop and photo the monitor, then open this in photoshop and sample it. However that would be influenced by the exposure of the camera. Maybe I need to create a Kodak grey card type image and establish correct exposure for the monitor brightness first. so what would that be as rgb ?

I know though that Pshop is displaying duller. Once upon a time we had Adobe gamma and one would go through the calibration wizard to set up Photoshop having already set up the monitor.

What do we have to do after installing CS5 extended or CS4 to ensure Pshops display is correct ?

I have Adobe gamma in the control panel, Is this something we still have to do in CS5, I wonder if its there because I still have Pshop 7 installed which used that wizard.

XP pro is my OS.
