How can I group objects is CS2? (For instance, I have text and a picture of the earth. I want the text background to be the earth.) I know it's basic, but I cannot figure out how to do it in CS2.

View 8 Replies View RelatedI am working with CS6. Recently I have been recording a few actions that I like to run on a lot of my photos. Before I am done recording these actions I like to group them. Here is where the problem comes into play however...First time I play the action it shows up perfectly in the layer panel. The 2nd,3rd attempt an so on, the action that is grouped (the same action or another grouped action) will show up all jumbled in the layers panel. Sometimes the adjustment layers show up outside of the group while others the group appears to have "eaten" the first group of actions I ran. why can't I stack the actions I have written?

I get the impression that you should group the relevant layers, so that its easier to align them or clip them of outline them or whatever.. Which would be great, because Im always having difficulties with shape layers that go outside their bounds.. and adding multiple clipping masks seem to be a lot of work..

Parameters who can vary for lets say a rectangular profile with:
80x50x2
80x50x3
100x50x2
That these data sets/parameters are grouped/linked to eachother in the Parametric Table.
So when I'm doing my analyses with the profile of 100 and I change the wall thicknes from 2 to 3mm the 100 changes to the 80 variant automaticly, or asks me which version I want.
It would be handy to avoid mistakes with non excisting combinations of profiles.
Is there a custom app for Inventor that allows you to manage parameters easier? (Grouping wise to keep a better overvieuw.)
I have just upgraded to P&G Designer7 from Xara Xtreme 3.I had problems ungrouping layers.Maybe others have experienced the same difficulty.
Grouping layers is easy, of course. Shortcut CTRL+G, moves all parts to just one layer.
Ungrouping is not so easy.CTRL+U does NOT revert things to your previous multiple layers.If you've saved saved your file, next time you have to tediously re-create all your previous layers from scratch.CTRL+Z does revert to multiple layers, just as long as you haven't already saved the document.
I think I did something unintentionally awhile back so that now every time I group or ungroup objects on a layer, the layer they are in collapses. For the life of me, I can't find anything on what keystroke I may have done (if it was a keystroke) that resulted in this happening.

Associative Network Evaluation Error
The object cannot be resolved or value limit has been exceeded.
Inconsistent associative objects my display geometry and grips incorrectly and update in unexpected ways when edited. You can undo to restore the associative object to its previous state.Upon receiving this message, all groups have been removed from the drawing.
Inventor 2010 / I'm finding myself scrolling up and down the browser bar quite a lot to get to the Solid Bodies folder for example, and I was wondering if it was possible to group features into folders or something to make the journey quicker, with the benefit of also being able to just organize things a bit better.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have an assembly that I have the BOM property set to phantom. Consists of 7 parts, each have a bom property of purchased.
All parts are the same but cut to length in the shop. Parts list are based on parts only BOM. If I create a parts list based on just the assembly, I can group the items, they all have the same part number, and display the group participants, and the item numbers and everything works as expected.
If I use this assembly as a subassembly in a larger assembly and create a partslist with the same group keys, the subassembly does not show as a group, does not show group participants or corresponding item numbers.
What I'm trying to do is show total length of a product that we buy on a spool for this assembly. To do this I'm using substitution in the qty column. Most parts are purchased each, these are purchased by length. What would cause the parts list to display as a group in one list but not in the other?
Is subtotaling still impossible with ACA 2014?
Is there a workaround to what I am trying to do? I just want to create a table that has a list of all the spaces sorted by name, give a quantity of the spaces and the combined area of all those spaces in one row of the table.
Roughly:
King 4 2000sf
Queen 2 1000sf
Suite 4 3000sf
My attached schedule gives a row for each space, except that it groups spaces of exact same areas. I want a single row for each room type.
Also, when working with spaces sometimes using Space_Add, Generate I am met with the response that a space already exists and no space can be added. The "phantom" space does not show up in the schedule, thawing all layers does not reveal any space and I've tried all my selection tricks to parse a space from the closed boundary that appears empty.
I want to be able to take a few parts and group them together to make them appear as one single entry on the parts list.
Example: I have a Liquid Level Switch, Mounting Bracket and mounting hardware in the assembly as separate parts. On the .idw Parts List I need to have them show up as one item, as a 'LLS Kit' phantom.
Also, these parts will be used on other assemblies and will probably be used with other main components (ie. Temperature switches, pressure switches, etc.) so then need to remain independent of one another.
So we have this custom construction note routine. It creates all the notes with station, offset, blah blah , and it is all together as once piece. So if you move the note group the leader will stay attached to it and it holds all of the label properties.
When I copy clip, wblock, insert these key notes into another drawing they are no longer a group and there is no way to move them all together.
This has created a lot of extra work and moving stuff around that does not seem necessary.How can I copy or move construction key notes from one drawing to another without losing the group properties. I have tried WBlock and making sure the grouping is on when I copy and paste/insert them but it still doesn't work.
Oh and we are running a 64bit 2013 with the carlson suite application,
I have set up a lot of smart photo sets in the Flick section of the Publish Services panel.
I have a lot of these sets now and they are becoming a bit unwieldly to manage. Is there a way to set up a hierarchy and group a number of sets together? For example could I group together a number of sets that I created in 2012 into a 2012 "folder". I have tried dragging and dropping but this doesn't seem to work.
When I collect objects into, say, a drawing of a bicycle, I can do this with grouping or by creating a block (and I don't know what else). If one of the objects in the bicycle collection is itself a collection of objects--for example, a "front wheel" made up of tire, wheel frame, and spokes objects--what "grouping" method do I use such that when I explode the bicycle it only explodes the first level of objects--the objects that made up the bicycle become separate objects, but the objects that make up the front wheel stay collected as a "front wheel." (Or, is there a less deep form of explode?) Blocking the most detailed objects seems burdensome.

Well my computer was freezing up and I had to restart Gimp, I thought I'd only be loosing a few minutes of work cause I had saved VERY recently. I re opened Gimp and suddenly...I can only see the group I was working with. The latest work is there but all my other layers are gone... It was saved as an xcf file

A screen shot is provided below. I grouped several layers of objects and called it 'JM.' After doing so it left three blank layers.
I can toggle "Selection Modes, Object Grouping" on by checking the box and save my file. When I close AutoCAD 2012 and come back in Object Grouping is turned off again, even if I pull up the same drawing. I can't seem to find a lisp function or command to turn this on. Seems that my only option is to go back to the options each time and turn it on. I've got a registry entry or a lisp command I an issue to keep this turned on.

Test case:Create 4 rectangles.Select them all and group them (ctrl+g)Select the group and combine all objects (ctrl+alt+dnarrow)

What I get:The same group but with a single object inside.

I am developing 'enterprise' tool palettes which i've put on a networked drive to which i have write permissions and the users have read-only permissions. Within these palettes, each palette has separators and Text titles to group the commands and these groups originally appeared on everyone's computer as i expected when i first made them available. But now when i add new commands to a palette on the networked drive, the new command appears on the correct palette, but at the bottom of the palette, on the user's computers.
I have made provisions for each user to create their own collection of palettes, which are saved on their own directory and, of course, they can do whatever they want with them. But i want to prevent them from re-organizing the enterprise palettes and more importantly, if i add a new command in palette "X" and locate it in group "y" of that palette, i want it to be in that location when the users view it.
Is there some way to make the enterprise palettes on their computers look like i arrange them?

I started to get this strange error with my Photoshop when making a new document in Photoshop and got the following error: "cannot initiate Photoshop because Photoshop cannot create any more windows".
I thought the easiest thing to do would be to reinstall (Photoshop needs reinstalling extremely often unfortunately), but now when I try and open the program it just give an alert beep and closes back up. Even though I rarely use ImageReady, I opened that up to check and it does the same behavior.
Can anyone tell me what color settings I need to set in photoshop in order to avoid this from happening? It only happens once in a while and I don't know what I've done to fix it or screw it up. What happens is that when I'm in photoshop and I do a "save for web" my document jumps to image ready and when viewing '2 up' for optimization purposes and comparison, I realize that the original view is actually duller in color and does not look like the original in photoshop. The blacks are definitely not as black.
View 1 Replies View Relatedwhen I got my first Macintosh IICX and all of my MacPaint clip art. I don't want to get rid of the clip art because since I'm still using a black ink printer and not upgrading to a color one, the clip art looks nice in newsletters and the like.
Up until this time I had been using SuperPaint which had the New Superbits editing plug-in to refine the pictures so they had the smoother and cleaner lines instead of looking jagged. With my new computer and printer, I'm also getting Photoshop CS packaged with Adobe Creative Suite Premium, which I have never used before. Since I have not received my order yet, I was wondering if anyone could tell me whether Photoshop has the capability of improving the older MacPaint clip art like SuperPaint did with the New SuperBits editing plug-in. Over the past two days, I have been trying like crazy to back-up my pictures with SuperPaint and then re-saving them with Graphic Converter. It's been so incredibly slow that I thought I would go ahead and ask you, the experts, if Photoshop can also improve the quality of my older MacPaint clip art or if I should continue to back-up my clip art like I have been doing.
I have just got back from the Elbow gig and pulled the images off the card. They load up in Bridge but don't have actual picture thumbnails. They are named correctly, ie: IMG_3483.CR2 but they won't open!? Error message says 'Could not complete your request because Photoshop does not recognise this type of file'
I could see them on the back of the camera.
mac users... i did a software update the other day and I noticed that there was an update for ACR. Could it have been something to do with that? And why can't I find ACR in my Applications?

View 3 Replies View Related of Adobe Photoshop v6.0.1 (quite old, I know, but it do all I want and on my old HW I did not plan/want to use any more recent version, because they are HUGE and with just a little preferences trick, I did not need to reinstall my PS - ever ), yet as Czech user, I need my software to type some special characters as well. These are looking like this:

Now the only problem is, that some of them PS just refuse to type. Seven small and seven caps are just wrong. See the line "for PS:"...
I battled the problem even by editing the fonts itsels, because that seems to work with Adobe Illustrator, yet this also cause the edited fonts to be useless in another programs. So I looked deeply and in the Adobe settings in directory Fonts / Reqrd are directory CMaps and perhaps editing the character map used will be better and usable solution? how to do it or even determine with file from the 96 files in the CMaps directory are right now used by Adobe Photoshop?
Everytime I open my CS6, it always show " Could not initialize Photoshop because the preferences file was invalid (it has been deleted)" I reinstalled it but it is still popping out.
View 10 Replies View Relatedwhen I try to save a tagra file with a alpha channel in photoshop 7 the box for the alpha channel is greyed out, with an warning sign next to it, and the line below stating "file must be saved as a copy with this selection" When I examine the saved file the alpha channel is not there!
Has anybody got any idea why?
My old version of photoshop 6, allows you to save alpha channels!
