Im trying to do a chrome, but Im using cs and i can't seem to find "Group with previous" anywhere in the layers menu or in the help file. And when I hit "ctrl-g" I get a create a clipping mask. I dont think its the same thing because my results arent the same.
Since I switched to PS CS3, I miss an important feature that I used often in PS 7. That is: the possibility to apply an adjustment layer to the previous layer only (in PS 7: Ctrl+G). In the layer panel, a little down arrow appeared at the left of the layer row to indicate this link.
In PS CS3, I can group layers (Ctrl+G), but adjustment layers apply to the whole picture, even if grouped. But how to apply an adjustment layer to one layer?
I have a user in my group that is hesitant to upgrade to 2012 because , he has many lisp routines that are associated with the PREVIOUS selection feature. This selection is very useful in that when you are moving or selecting many objects you can enter P for previous and the object will be selected.
In 2009, when you select objects then hit escape, then try to execute a command requesting to use the Previous, AutoCAD will remember the last selected object and then highlight it.
In 2012, when you select objects then hit escape, then try to execute a command using P for previous, it will not highlight the previous object selected but will highlight the previous object where a command was executed on.
Hope I haven't lost you. It seems there should be a setting under SELECTION of how to manipulate the Previous selection feature.
I cannot save my previous files created on a student version to an upgraded 2014 version. I tried changing the save as path in the options menu, but no luck. I am able to open the file in the upgraded version but it states that it will open as a student version. Also I cannot copy and paste anything from the student version to the upgraded one. Not sure why.
I have table, several chairs and some glasses and plates on table. I want to group them and instance that group, hundred of times. Problem is that I do not have materials implemented and I will not until client is satisfied with arrangement. I have problems later, even using many scripts I found, to add material to all instances. Only way is to select one by one.
Other thing is that there might be new objects added into set, so best way would be to add to master group and that will be added in instances of that group automatically, but that does not work with Maya.
I've been using PS for a long time. I'm far from even beginner level, I'd say, but I know my way around well enough. I'm using PS CS6 on a Win 7 ENT machine.
If I open a new document, the text tool does nothing. If open a previously saved document, the text tool works just fine. So, I've taken to starting each new document by opening an older one, then modifying it.
Interestingly, in new doc, the text-entry point is exeedingly tiny and sits *inside* the upper left-hand resize box. In an previously opened file, it sits nicely in the upper left-hand corner of the box itself, patiently waiting at the preset font size.
In Photoshop CS6, I can't set my workspace to the way it was in previous versions. I especially need the horizontal toolbar that goes under the top menus. I would use it for paths or gradient options for example.
Before with 6 I can drag icons of tags persons to imagine (Organizer). Now, with upgrade to 11, I do not find icons tag of persons and I do not understand how drag tags to imagine. Then, how I can see tag (previous) under the imagine? (Organizer)
Why is it that when ever I launch CS6 Photoshop does it automatically open a file that I worked on previously? The file (at this point) is always the same file and is was worked on over a month ago.
Photoshop is all up-to-date and I am seeing this on Mac OS versions: OS X 10.6.8 but not on Mac OS X 10.8.2.
I want to edit on a certain layer, for example layer 1: My current layer happens to be layer 2, so: I click on layer 1 to make it current. I do the editing & it isn't quite what I want, so I undo theaction. As I undo the action, CS6 also undoes my layer change (i.e makes tolayer 2 current again) even though I want layer 1 to remain the current one. Is there any way to change this in edit preferences or somewhere?
I accidently deleted some files where photos are stored. Can I somehow reconnect from previous versions of pse that are backed up on cd's. I am running pse 11.
1) Is there any way in Photoshop to know the exact location of an existing guide like you can easily do in Illustrator and Indesign by watching the info box?
2) Besides that, can i move a previous guide to an exact parameter like i do in Illustrator and Indesign? those are very useful tips to the workflow.
Maybe there is a plugin to do it more efficiently. Nowdays, i have to always Create New Guide. If i like the New Guide 20 px from another guide and have to always remember the previous location or do the math...it too much time consuming. It would be great to have a box where i could put the value and move guides around like Illustrator.
Im created a shape and on the first shape I put a stroke and now every shape I do has a stroke even if I dont want one. I keep having to delete it and also something is weird as when I create a shape and then click another the one I just created disappears. It says its a vector mask and so its not a shape and but I click the mask it appears but clicking or creating another shape it dissappears.
Okay so played around and it seems every new shape took on the fill of the previous shape which was 0. How do I stop new shapes from not having 0 fill?
I had 8 psd files open, all with many layers and wanted to make a copy of each one, change resolution to 72 and save as a jpeg. I accidentlly hit the wrong action and all the psd files were flattened, changed to 72 res and closed. Is there anyway to retrieve a previous save to get back the layered files? CS6 Extended and Windows 7
I've installed Elements 11 and imported my pictures and also the tabs. But the result is only a list of tags, the pictures doesn't seem to have any tags attached any longer. What can I do? My previous version of Elements was the 8.
I had to re-format hard drive. I did have data backed up by a service provider. I don't wan to restore all data. How do I locate the previous "TAG" files in organizer so I can import them into re-installed elements 11?
I am wanting to add more backgrounds and graphics from previous photoshop. How do it do this? I have located the photo creations file and pasted in folder but still not showing in program.
I have a problem to restore a catalog from a previous version of photoshop. But I have a catalog only under a .buc extension instead of a .tly extension I should have.
I upgraded to PS CS6 and failed to export the exhaustive keyword list I had created by adding personal keywords to the "Controlled Vocabulary Keyword Catalog" I was using in CS5. I thought I'd be able to open my previous version of CS5 to export that catalog, but every attempt to open PS CS5 or the Bridge CS5 defaults to CS6.I would love to go back and open my previous version to export that catalog rather than trying to recreate it from a new Controlled Vocabulary Keyword Catalog download.
Why in CS6 when zoom changes window size and a floating window fits in Photoshop window or on other display screen do I get scroll bars where a select all selection marching ants are not visible on all four sides till I drag out the window to get rid of the scroll bars so I can see all of marching ants.
In previous versions of Photoshop space for scroll bars is present but there are no scroll bar, select all marching ants are visible on all four sides when an image's window fits in Photoshop window or on second display. Is there a way to make CS6 work like previous versions? Also if I just open a document and Photoshop fits it to Photoshop window or second display the floating window is correct without scroll bars.
I have multiple photos that I am running an action on but each photo is replacing the one before using the same file name. instead of using the original file name. So I end up with 1 edited photo!!! from the action! This is happening using cs5 I have not encounted this before.
How do I get my photos from a previous version of Photoshop Elements (6) into Photoshop Elements 12? Do I restore from a backup? I have over 12,000 pics ( a good portion with multiple versions) and don't want to lose captions and metadata.
