Nov 20, 2012I'm running Photoshop CS5 on a PC with Windows XP pro, Core 2 Duo E4400@2GB, 4GB DDR2 RAM, MSI MS7350 Mainboard, ATI Radion X1050 Graphics card, 1 Analog LCD screen and one digital. I'm using an empty 1TB drive for a scratch disk.
My Photoshop CS5 runs flawlessly UNTIL I try to batch-process anything. If I go to File>Automate>Photomerge, no problem, but when I go to File>Automate>Batch, the second I hit Batch, I get an error message telling me that Windows has to shut down Photoshop. I never had this problem with CS4, which I never deleted and have to use when batching.

Apr 18, 2004I have been trying to a create a batch job and save the files with an extension ie:
picture1.jpg to picture1_s.jpg
I want to put an extension on the resised small images.
I can get the batch job to alter the dpi and sizes but I can't find a way to add a letter into the file name as above to differentiate the different sizes.

Aug 20, 2008Im getting not enough memory (RAM) error messages attempting to photomerge or auto-align large images. Any other filter or tool that I need works just fine on these size files. Neither tweaking CS3 preferences (as has been discussed rather thoroughly on this forum) nor toggling the 3 GB switch under XP (my PC has 4 GB ram and >200 GB scratch) helped. Given optimal settings, what are the upper dimensions that I might reasonably expect to photomerge, either under XP or Vista 64? If its not unheard of to photomerge and auto align huge files, Id upgrade my system. Otherwise, Ill plan the upgrade and wait for CS4.

Dec 20, 2012I would like to create a new panorama in PSE11, but the option to do so seems to be missing. If I choose Enhance -> Photomerge, the Panorama-option is greyed out.
Update: a bit later: All of a sudden it seems to work under Enhange -> Photomerge and then Panorama isn't greyed out anymore.

Jul 8, 2009I'm an animation intern working for an animator who does things old school.
She gives me hundreds of animation cells to scan using her scanner into photoshop CS(nothing), using the scan utility in photoshop. the result, as we are doing it, is hundreds of separate image files. i then copy and paste each of these image files into another custom sized file as separate layers.
i know there must be a way to automate this or do it with an action, but i cannot figure it out. if you think this isn't possible with photoshop CS(nothing) i have CS3 available to me on my personal laptop.

Nov 26, 2012I would like to use Drag2PDF to create my PDF, and I want to automate the printing process. I want to print all sheets as a one PDF file. I have created a simple C# code, which prints to PDF, but I have one problem... When I submit the print a dialogue will appear (from the Drag2PDF) which asks for the file to be saved (location and name) How can I automate this?
I may not use pdfAddIn.SaveCopyAs, it makes my PDF not good.

Lightroom :: How To Limit File Size Of Photos Selected In LR3 For Photomerge In PS5
Nov 8, 2011Is there a simple way to limit the file size of the photos selected in LR3 for a photomerge in PS5?
I have found that without limiting the size, the panoramas generated are very large - 1GB or greater.
I've found an work around by opening the photos in Bridge and then in Camera Raw where I can reduce the file size before using PS5 for photomerge. After I've done this, it's a bit of a hassle to get the panorama back into LR3. The benefit of this approach is that it speeds up the processing significantly and downstream with any subsequent processing since the files are just large and not ginormus.
If this isn't possible, this seems like a good idea for LR4.
AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Lisp File Creation To Automate Placing Of Angular Dimensions
Sep 24, 2013I am trying to create a lisp file to automate the placing of angular dimensions at all of the vertex's along a very long polyline. There are 500-600 nodes at least and we need the angle between the incoming and outgoing lines at every node.
Is there a way to automate this with a lisp file, or am i relegated to clicking 1800 times and waste 3-4 hours doing this?
We get these files quite often and this will be a huge benefit to us.
Photoshop :: PSD File Error / All Saved Layers Disappeared
Apr 25, 2013I have a problem with the PSD file, size 228 MB. When electricity turned off, my computer shut down then I turned on it and opened the PSD again but there was only one locked layer filled in black and no other layers. I can not see other layers that was saved before. and here is red line on the top. How can I return my works back?

Feb 3, 2013I finished rendering a project as a .m2t video file AVCHD 1920x1080. At the end of the long rendering process (90 min for a complex 17 min project) the project has disappeared! I searched the computer, found the shortcut under Recent Items but it did not open it and the file is not present in the location the shortcut points to. I did a search for the title of the project throughout the entire computer aand still didn't find it. It's not in the trash.

Aug 8, 2013Yesterday while I was editing a project in After Effects I used the command-E within AE to open the selected filein my AE project in Illustrator. Everything was fine, I was able to move things across all exisint layers without changing the file layer organization structure. When I went to save the file, everything seemed to go fine and the asterisk went away indicating it saved the file. When I went back into After Effects, AE told instantly gave me an error: "After Effects error: File exists but couldn't be open for reading: "/Volumes/media/CRISP/Motion/_AIs/dining room.ai"/ (3 :: 0)". But when I go into that exact volume destination, the file is missing and I can't find it anywhere. The volume is a server on the network I use here at my job. The server has never had issues with deleted files or not being able to save files onto it. It is always on and connected.
Despite AE telling me it exists still but it can't open it, I can't find the illustrator file anywhere on my Mac or media server. I've done advanced searches with hidden files being visible and I've even looked in a couple hidden folders ".ExampleHiddenFolder" and I still can't find the file with a matching name or extension. I've even tried use the command-option-shift-open within Illustrator to see if I could open any visible file. I just can't find it anywhere and I don't know why Illustrator would just go and delete my file. Yesterday the Recent Files within Illustror would indicate that I had recently opened a dining room.ai file but when I would click on it to open it to try and recover it, AI said it couldn't locate the file. Now today the file history doesn't even show up in my recent files anymore (it is still the last file I opened in AI).
Lightroom :: Folder Moved In The File Pane Is Disappeared?
Mar 26, 2013I moved a folder in Lightroom in the file pane, in Library mode and now Lightroom thinks they are missing. I looked for them in Finder and they aren't were they were and they aren't where I moved them too. I can't figure out how they just disappeared into the ether. The pictures are on a network drive, but I've done this before and Lightroom had no problems whatsoever.

Photoshop :: Automate Cropping
Dec 23, 2008I have a one-time project of scanning hundreds of slides off a flatbed scanner and I'd like to automate what's possible. I've been filling the scanner surface with slides and scanning them into photoshop and I've found the scan and crop feature that does a good job separating the slides on the large scanned image into separate images. But, this would go a lot faster if I could automate the last step. Ideally I could just scan in a large number of images each consisting of many different slide images, and I could have photoshop process the files, producing the smaller images.
I feel helpless without a command line interface, though. Does photoshop have a scripting language? I'm only using photoshop for this one purpose so I'd rather not learn it unless it's based on a common language. Any suggestions to my specific file processing question, or how I'm going about the entire process ...

For some reason when I use the automate after recording, and I set source folder and destination folder, images sent to the destination are exactly the same as original, gif transparent? Jun 10, 2007I have thousands of thumbs in where i would like to improve brightness sharpen etc automatically. I created an action that do it all and save for web in specific folder. But now i get a problem.
Name of thumbs have sizes 40-50 chars. So everything will be alright if photoshop didnt have some limits for save for web filenames, it cut my names to like 16 chars and overwrite all thumbs in gallery in 1 file
When i tried "save as" thumbs weight 3x mroe then initial, even when i tried low quality..
Is it any way to fast improve quality of thumbs that are all in different folders? The best thing would be if program could just overwrite thumb so there would be no problem but I don't know how to do it.
I would like to do it all automatically cause i have many galleries where i would like to change thumbs.
Photoshop :: Very Odd Photomerge Using CS4
Nov 9, 2008I took a series of photos (9 shot vertically) of the lobby of AKL. I made adjustments in Bridge (3.0.0.464) then choose Photomerge through tools in Bridge to process the pano in CS4 (11.0). The images were processed for the natural light. Follow the link to see what CS4 came up with. The files were .dng processed with CS3. I have made many other photomerges using this combo, but this is first to achieve this type of result. In CS4, I used the vignette and distortion options.
