Jan 16, 2012I'm trying to edit a music performance shot with multiple cameras, both video and still, using VS X4. I'd like to e.g. insert (full-screen pan & scan) still pictures into the video stream with video cross-fading in and out, but I cannot find a way to get a satisfactory end result without breaking audio/video synchronization.
I've tried the following:
a) Put the picture on the overlay track. If I now put cross-fades on the overlay track, the fades are to/from black, not between main track video and overlay still, which is not the desired result. It is expected functionality, though, so no bug there.
b) Put the picture on the same (main) track with the video. First, I split the audio to a separate audio track to keep it intact. Then I split a piece of video out using chapter markers as guides and replace the cut-out piece with a still picture of equal duration. So far audio sync remains fine. But if I now insert cross-fades into the main track, it gets out-of-sync with the audio with every cross-fade (video gets shorter, probably to compensate for the audio missing in the still pictures?), and it is really cumbersome to manually repair sync after every transition.
Would there be any way to get cross-fades in for multi-camera processing without messing audio synchronization? Some nice function key (press CTRL/SHIFT/ALT etc. while dropping the transition onto the overlay track to force it to process between the overlay and the main video track instead)?

VideoStudio :: When Cross Fading Video Sound Doesn't Fade In Properly
Jan 2, 2012Using VideoStudio X4 Ultimate 14.2.0.23 I have the following issue:
When doing a crossfade between video clips, the audio crossfades just fine in the preview of the edit screen in X4. However, after exporting to DVD 14:9 format, in the resulting MPG video the audio of the first clip correctly fades out, while the audio of the second clip doesn't fade in... it just jumps in.

Jul 24, 2011I have two layers , select them in the morph layers selection panel, and establish the selected points working the morph radius. But somehow the in between layers come out with some kind of transparency tween(fading away), and very little morphing is actually observable.

he is using it for wallpapers, he wants the wallpapers part of the main image on its own layer, so that it is translucent then when you go over it, it will go to full color (no tranparency). do i have to do this as a gif and make it a rollover or something, do i need to make it a seperate image?

Jul 14, 2013A friend asked me to make an animated forum signature for him but their forum has a rule the sig size must be 650x200.
So i thought i would fit it in my own 650x200 signature and cutting everything outside that out using the wand tool on every layer (125) I made them visible cut out the outskirts and made it invisible again one by one , with the little eye next to the layer.
After u import Video frames to layers only the first one is visible , but in order to cut in a layer i needed to make it visible , and apperently after u make a layer visible its invisible in the saving (Save for Web option) After i was finished all i had left with was one layer that was visibile the other 5 seconds were just invisible

how to fix this , i ran into it a couple of times now its getting pretty annoying.

Jul 12, 2013Okay so I've tried everything and even reinstalled my photoshop cs6 and it is still giving me some trouble when i want to make an animated gif from my video that is only 4 seconds long.
Anyway when i click on file and scroll down to import and scroll to the video frames to lay and the impot video to layers pops up and it shows my full video but the top part is black however you can see the video on the bottom half just the top part of the video is black. How can i go about fixing this problem ?

Nov 8, 2013I am trying to render a video from layers I made from a quicktime. The problem is that all of the layers are on top of each other and take up the whole length of time instead of each being one frame sequentially after each other. So, when I render or do a DPX sequence it is only one frame played for 6 seconds. There are 167 layers (frames) so I would rather not have to adjust each layer back one frame at a time.Â

Photoshop :: CS5 Won't Import Video Frames To Layers
Aug 30, 2013This used to work, but now I can't find any way to import videos into Photoshop to make GIFs. When I go to import a video, mp4s are greyed out but I can still select avi files.

When I select an avi file, the preview comes up blank. When it imports, every layer is black. This feature used to work perfectly, but now it won't work at all! The avi files play fine in Quicktime Player, for which I have the Perian add-on.

When I open 1 single frame I can see my object buffers in the channels, when I open my sequence I just get R, G, B, RGB.

Aug 13, 2013I just bought a Macbook Pro, OS X 10.8.4 and installed Photoshop CS4 on it, but when I select import video frames to layers and search for a video, they appear but I can't select any videos. I have the latest version of Quicktime and the videos play fine. I can still use photoshop with photos so it seems like it's just this one function that isn't working. It works on my sister's older Macbook pro though (she hasn't got Mountain Lion though, it's snow leopard OS X 10.6.8), and the only time it didn't work was when there wasn't enough space on the computer but I have over 670GB of available space.

it's Photshop CS5 that im useing running on 64bit windows 8, i was priviously runing 32bit windows 8 and and this worked fine, then upgraded to 64bit and now this problem has occoured

Now it appears you need to make each video layer a maximum of 5 seconds. Document settings doesn't resolve this problem. I've found out how to extend the timeline but, crucially, not the length of individual video layers beyond 5 seconds.

Nov 6, 2012I have PS CS6 and when I click on File> Import> Video Frames to Layers.. Next, the window that says "Initializing Video Import" starting to load and always get stuck and that's what appears: "Could not complete the video frames to layers command because the DynamicLink Media Server is not available". That's with aaaall the videos.

I've been trying with File> Open but that's what says "Could not complete your request because it is not the right kind of document".

Sep 7, 2012I've been searching for an answer for a while now, and I still can't seem to make this work. I'm trying to make gifs. I'm using a Mac and I've already switched my CS5 to a 32-bit version, but the video is greyed out even though it's an mp4 and won't let me import the video.

Now it appears you need to make each video layer a maximum of 5 seconds. Document settings doesn't resolve this problem. I've found out how to extend the timeline but, crucially, not the length of individual video layers beyond 5 seconds. I believe CS5 and previous versions had this enabled.

Oct 29, 2012For some reason, suddenly when I import video frames to layers, it is now set as Quicktime files that can only be opened (AVI,MPEG etc) and won't pick up MMV files at all. I used to make a lot of gifs fine with WMV files (thats the only format Photoshop PS5 would let me open for years), now it is set up as Quicktime files all of a sudden. It only opens AVI files as well, other video formats pop up with blank screens and then go transparent. Is there any way I can fix this? I'd like to be able to make gifs with WMV files again.

Is there some way you can open MP4 files onto Photoshop CS5 as well? Converting Youtube vids to WMV is quite a process.
Photoshop :: Couldn't Complete Video Frames To Layers Command
May 14, 2013I recently learned to make gif images using KMPlayer and my Photoshop CS6, but today I hit a snag that I can't seem to get around. Normally I capture a scene from a show DVD I have in KMPlayer and then import the video frames into layers/frames in photoshop with no problem. Well today I went to do that, and captured the scene with what seemed like no problem (the small captured scene saved with no problem) but when I went to CS6 to import the video into layers, I got the error message "Could not complete the video frames to layers command because the file could not be opened". At first I thought it was the KMPlayer saving the files wrong, so I retried and got the same error message. I Restored the players settings back to a default and the file still wouldn't open in photoshop, and then I even tried uninstalling/reinstalling the player trying to get it to work, and then I thought it must be photoshop, because even scenes I had captured at an earlier day that worked perfectly fine when importing would not open.

Should I uninstall/reinstall photoshop and see if that works,The files I'm trying to import are AVIs as always, I even tried to capture scenes in other formats to no avail. What could be causing the problem?

May 9, 2013I want to insert a layer into one of my video groups. But when I do I want all of the layers in all of the selected groups to move holding therei relative position. e.g. i have a text layer positioned at a certain time in a Clip B. I want to insert another clip right before this clip which will shove Clip B to the right. I want the text layer to move also keeping its relative position to Clip B. The text clip is in a different video group from that of the underlying layer that is being shoved over.Restated, I want to hold all the clips and layers in position so that when I insert another clip everything moves holding their positions relative to each other.
