Photoshop :: Exporting Panels Batch Process

Apr 2, 2013

I work at an animation studio where our artists work directly in Photoshop CS5 to draw storyboards (3 panels across). We are having major difficulties figuring out how to successfully convert our action (which exports the three panels as tiff images) into a batch process,

The action basically just selects each channel of the main storyboard (three channels for the three panel areas), copies/pastes the image into a new canvas, saves that new image as a tiff to the desktop. It does that for all three panels and yields three tiff images on my desktop, which I then have to drag and drop into a folder before running the action on the next page or else it will replace the previous round of images (saving over them).

Using Automate > Batch doesn't work and I am wondering if it is even possible to run a batch or if the action is simply too complex because it creates three new image files.

Photoshop :: Save For Web - Wrong Filesize - CS5.1?

Nov 29, 2012

user now using CS5.1.I develop webpages and quite often pend much time optimizing my imagesI have a small 20 x 20 picture used for a repeatable background. I try to save it as a gif and manage it go get all the way down to 200 bytes... Well thats at least what Photoshop tells me. Cos when I check in OSX 10.8.2 it tells me its acutally 1.2 kb... I originally made this picture in 40 x 40 which at the moment is 700b, so this makes no sence, that its not smaller than my 40 x 40. And I can see its not the wrong options I choose when saving.

I've also uploaded the image to my server, so see if it was a OSX-issue, but its still over 1kb... Is it a known bug or?

Revit :: 3D DWG Export With ACIS Solids Terminates 2014?

Feb 24, 2014

On some of our systems (most) when exporting a 3D view to DWG with ACIS Solids makes Revit 2014 terminate whitout any dialogue or information en event log what so ever. When changing solid type to polymesh the export works fine. The file is created in the crashing scenario but is only a few kilobytes in size, as opposed to to above 33 MB file another workstation creates.

All systems use windows 8.1 64-bit, have 32GB RAM (actually the one were the export works only has 24GB). Revit 2014 Build 20131024_2115(x64).

I have uninstalled Revit 2014 and reinstalled whitout success on one of the stations where the bug occurs.

InDesign :: Managing Filesize Of Images?

Apr 23, 2014

Recently I was working on an A1 size sheet and exported it from Indesign as a jpg file. The settings were as follows

Output as CMYK
Resolution - 300dpi

The final image was huge! - a staggering 73 mb file.

On the other hand if I would have done the same work on photoshop with same resolution, then the image would have come at maximum of 20mb filesize.

I know settings for pdf exports, but for jpg exports, the settings are too less [as far as I have observed]. So, what is the solution to keep filesize minimum with best quality [in my case 300dpi]

CorelDRAW X5 :: Transparent PNG File Export - Settings To Reduce Bloated Filesize

Feb 15, 2012

I'm working with a production house to generate transparent PNG files of pieces of content. These output images must meet a fixed height and width (in pixels). We're providing a MS Word file with a template that has both text and a MathType equation. The vendor uses this as a starting point, and will export the same equation as a transparent PNG file.

The vendor is using CorelDraw to: transfer text and MathType equations out of a Microsoft Word document into a template in a CDR file select and export the resulting component(s) as a transparent PNG file

FONT MISMATCH: We have a reference PNG file that we've generated as pixel map directly from an XML version of a piece of sample content. We've found that the vendor's sample PNG file is much larger in filesize than the reference PNG file, though it has the same dimensions.

I'm wondering if it is related to a settings issue in CorelDraw due to a weird font size mismatch. Viewing our reference PNG on-screen on my MacBook Pro (OS X Lion), the font matches 26pt in my text editor at 100% view, which is the same font size we use in our source Word document. The vendor (using a PC overseas) has to shrink the font size after transfer into CorelDraw to 6.2pt font, which visually matches our reference on my screen.

TECHNICAL DETAILS: I've used the "identify -verbose" command in ImageMagick to isolate a few other key differences between our source PNG file and the vendor's sample PNG file. In addition a significantly larger number of rows of Histogram information (source=65 rows; vendor=256 rows), there are a handful of other discrepancies (in bold):

Source PixelMap PNG

Resolution: 72x72

Print size: 6.94444x3.31944
Units: Undefined
Channel statistics:
  Gray:
    min: 0 (0)
[code]...

I've attached a text file with the ImageMagick details for each PNG file. changes to the CorelDraw settings or process to better align the output file with the source. I'm also open to exporting the selected component(s) in a different format (e.g., EPS or TIF) and then converting to PNG with another utility.

Illustrator :: CS6 - Converting PMS To Process For Files To Be Printed 4 Color Process

Oct 4, 2012

How the PMS color palettes "simulate" on screen how the color will print on different substrates (glossy vs matte vs uncoated paper). That's great for comps, but if you convert it to CMYK to print it, and the values are representing a "simulated" color it won't look correct (by that I mean come close to matching the spot color). For example, the uncoated palette simulates the color by making them appear a bit washed out on screen - pretty good visual simulation. But it might do so by adding black and cyan to orange for example, etc. - effectively dulling the original color.

So if I convert that to CMYK within the new Pantone + color palette, and then send it to the printer - it won't appear as it did on screen, it will dull the end color even more because it's converted the color to the dull simulated version - what a disaster! It's only doing half the job - showing us what it should look like on screen. In order to be truly efficient for design professionals the CMYK conversion might remove black and cyan completely to effectively brighten the color in the final output on uncoated paper. I would prefer it just stick to the standard conversion, which Pantone did have as a standard palette option (PMS to process), and then I can adjust if I think it's necessary.

Any corporate branding system will likely start with a PMS spot color palette for the identity. Then it will build into many different adaptations - full color brochures, large format banners and trade show graphics, website, advertising. So any corporate branding system will need to have PMS, CMYK and RGB versions of their main corporate color palette. There was a standard for these translations that was automatically consistent in the Adobe software and that is now all over the place, so it relies on individuals manually adapting the color mixes for final use - what a great way to screw things up.

Is there any sort of way to make a workflow that would allow me to retain the raw photos and seperate photoshop files in a convenient manner?

I'm simply looking to avoid having 2GB folder for just a few images, and wondering if there's maybe some appropriate file formats for that.

Photoshop :: Scanning In CS6 - Process Crashes

May 28, 2012

Here is my hardware:   Macbook pro 4 GB DDR3 core i5 with plenty of HD space   Epson V700 scanner (6400 dpi scanning capability)

My Software:   Adobe CS6 trial

What I want to do:  Scan a typical photo that is 6 by 6 inches at 6400 dpi as a bitmap, for utmost quality

What I tried:  File -> Import -> Images from device -> then selected my scanner, set it to scan at 6400 dpi and save as a bitmap

My problem: When the scanner head is done scanning and the progress bar for scanning the image completes and moves to the next step (presumably writing the image to the file), PS crashes and gives me an error log. It is far too detailed for me. I have no problem scanning images at lower resolutions like 1200 dpi. But this scanner is capable of 6400 dpi and I want to take full advantage of it. I cannot use the scanner software that came with teh scanner because tech support told me the scanner software has a 1.something GB file limit size. They told me 3rd party software like PS should be able to scan unlimited file sizes.  I suspect the file size migh be too large (16 GB)

My question: Is this a bug in the trial or something? Should PS be able to scan a 6 by 6 inch photo at 6400 dpi and save it as a bitmap?

Any 1st thoughts? I imagine it would be useful to upload the error log. I can do that if it is ok to do so

I would lik eto scan this image at 6400 dpi.

Photoshop :: JPG To PNG [Batch/Automation] Process?

Aug 5, 2008

completely remove the white background. Because this will be a batch process that includes others lighter hats, I can only use a maximum of 10 as a tolerance. When placed on a black background, it reflects some white fringe.

I'm starting with the Magic Eraser (10 tolerance), then doing Layer/Matting/Defringe, and no matter what tolerance I apply there (up to 20), some white pixels remain around the edge. Very frustrating to find a happy medium process in order to batch various colors to an acceptable quality.

Photoshop :: Batch Process 1000 Images

Aug 11, 2012

I have a batch of 1000 images that all need to be processed with the exact same levels adjustments and the exact same crop command. I recorded the necssary actions in photoshop, and I can now open up approximately 20 of my images and batch apply the actions to all 20 images automatically. The trouble is that I have 1000 images to process like this, and I can't open all 1000 in photoshop at once; it just kills my machine. I don't want to do the whole 1000 in little batches of 20 either. I'll be getting a new pile of 1000 images to process like this every day or two, so I need a way to do the whole 1000 automatically without user intervention.

Is such a thing possible?

I'm a software develoeper by profession, so if doing this sort of massive batch processing requires any command line work or scripting then I would totally be up for that.
