Photoshop Elements :: How To Crop Image 1600 X 1200 Pixels
Mar 14, 2014
In the full version of Photoshop I can crop an image 1600 x 1200 pixels, then save for web. It’s a simple two step operation that seems impossible in Elements. First because you can’t crop by pixels, only by proportion. Then because the save-to-web feature seems to result in a massive gif file, not a small jpg.

I have an image that is a cellphone picture of a magazine picture. It is 1952 X 3264 pixels tall and skinny. It is mostly blackish but has a red line drawing in it.
I would like to make a layer(?) that is 4352 X 3264 (4x3 ratio) that is all black then put the original image on it (as a different layer?). After that I would like to put a very light smoky-haze over it all. Lastly resize it to 1200 X 1600 and reduce the file size to a reasonable size.

I'm in CS6 and have an .ai file that I need to first crop to 1200 x 600. I do not know the size / dimensions of the .ai , where can I find?
Inside the artboard I select the Artboard tool and I first need to crop the image to the same size the black dashes are within the red solid line.
I would normally just go to save for web and set the new size there but I need to save this cropped file as a layered pdf. I know hwo to do that but I need to know how to find the current size of the .ai file, then crop it down.

5616x3774 / 72 res is what CS5 says my Canon 5d2 large jpeg is out of camera.
Can I use the crop too to make a 20"x24" image and keep all those or most of those pixels?
Do I leave the resolution box blank?
The lab I send the file to for the print, says they want 300 res files.

I have been using elemnts 10 for some months now, about two weeks ago the croped image would disapear. Today I have just deleted the programme and reinstalled it and the first thing was to test it so opened an image and used the crop tool and again it just disapears, the inter phase screen just goes blank. All other funtions seem to be ok, I run win XP I thought that the reinstall would cure but no how can this be is it a fault with the programme? I have been using Elements since version 4, this is the first time I have had such a problem.

I have a clipped image that I've placed a drop shadow on (using layer styles) on a transparent background. I want to quickly use the crop tool to remove any un-used pixels or artboard.
I tried to activate "show the layer edges", but it does not account for the layer style/drop shadow I've placed and also it goes away when you start to use the crop tool itself. So this doesn't really work.
Is there another way to do this? Other than eyeballing it? I want the image too be cropped as tightly as possible, but I do not want to tight too tight and cut of the drop shadow.

AFAICT there is no option to make the Straighten function in CS6 automatically crop out the transparent pixels as happens with CS5.

Whenever I use the Crop to Selection tool (with a rectangular selection), it doesn't actually crop TO the selection, it usually leaves an extra pixel on two edges.

I am a labtech at a community college and look after 48 mac pros in which the students use the entire creative suite. (I only mention this becuase any answers need to consider variations in system settings or photoshop settings. college students get into everything!)
But the issue is when you select the crop tool and enter a custom constraint and crop
The image size is sometimes a full 2 inches off of what you set as a crop?! I havn't run into this before
[I do know you can use the drop down box and use {size and resolution} but I want to know why it doesnt work under custom and unconstrained]

When I go to crop or move an image close to the edge of the canvas it jumps to the edge. I am having trouble especially with cropping the space between the image and the edge of the canvas the way I want it. turning off this jumping to edge problem I'm having?
Also, I've used CS4 a fair bit and haven't come across this same problem but in PE when I'm editing things like adjusting text on a layer and I'm changing options with hotkeys to resize the text box for eg, Elements seems to jump to the background layer quite alot and then I have to click back on the layer I want to edit between changing tools. Is it something to do with the Esc key?

I need to convert 1220 jpg images to black & white, a size of 36x12 mm and 240dpi.
I understand how to make an action and a droplet but the issues are;
1, How can I get Photoshop to resize the images to a width of 36 mm OR a height of 12 mm and then stretch the canvas size to the right width or height? Some images width are higher than their height (of course) and vice versa (but the converted images needs to be exactly 36x12 mm)
2, When I tried to make an action and a droplet I got dialogs all the time with questions about jpg quality or something about feather.. How can I get the droplet to just do it without asking about some of the images?

I'm putting together a series of images, and I want the horizon line to be a constant from image to image, though they were not that way in the original files. I'm assuming that I should go with the picture that has the smallest distance from the bottom of the picture and then crop the others so the distance appears to be the same in them as well. But is there a way to make that a simple process?

I have a problem. I'm making a videogame with a videogame-making program, and I can import my videogame characters from computer images. One example is the Forest Imp monster:
PROBLEM is.. there's an invisible (because it's white) border of pixels around this monster. If you want to see it, go ahead and open the above png in Photoshop and use the Paint Bucket Tool to fill in the background, but make sure Anti-Aliased is OFF. See all the white pixels around the monster? Those show up in the videogame: ....

I'm not really sure what this is called. But i've seen pictures where the edge of the image is stretched. It's stretched so that only the pixel on the edge of the image is duplicated and it sort of forms streaks of different colors.
