This happened last week when I first installed it. Tech support repaired the installation and it began to work again. Now it stopped again after I used it only twice?I click the icon, the opening window appears, I click Photo Editor, the program blinks and closes by itself. I am at a lost as to where to go from here. I order the magazine and support today and can't open the program!
View 2 Replieshave a question about the playblast window.When I open it to preview an animation, it plays it and then closes right away. I can't control any playback. I'm following a tutorial for a 3 second animation and in order to see it in the playblast window I have to keep opening it up through the menu.
Is there a setting or something to give me more control over the playblast window and have it stay open after the sequence ends?
I've been trying to replicate the problem, but it appears to be intermittent. It happens on multiple computers, we're using 2.8.4 on Windows 8 at the moment.
Scenario: GIMP is open with multiple files.
Browse a folder in explorer and select OPEN WITH GIMP or just OPEN. And a GIMP startup splash screen appears and reloads the GIMP application automatically closing and losing any work that was in progress on the prior GIMP screens.
Whenever I press CMD+S (which is supposedly a shortcut for a quick save on Mac) the Save As window always appear. I looked at the File menu and there's nothing wrong with the shortcut key. I also tried pressing CMD+SHIFT+S (which is the real Save As shortcut) and it works fine.

Computer is new HP Envy w/2.4GHz chip, 8 Gb memory and 1 Tb drive and Nvidia graphics card. Running Windows 8 64 bit, AVG antivirus with windows firewall.
I have Elements 10 and use a Windows 7 machine. When scrolling to select a file to open the program closes. This occurs when I scroll down to RAW files. It happens before I actually select a file. The program does not freeze but just closes.

I have Corel PhotoPaint X5 running on Windows 7 x64. Every time I save a jpg or jpeg file, the file cannot be shared and appears with a padlock on the bottom left hand corner. To be able to share it, I have to go to the properties of every individual photo and add "Everyone" to the permissions in the Security Tab. Other files save OK. Its only jpg/jpeg files that get locked.

Yesterday, I took a number of experimental shots (a red phone cord lying on a white background). The white background (an artists white canvas lying on the floor) was well lit from above using 5600K lights.
The shots were all taken using auto focus, auto exposure, etc and in the view finder everything appeared to be correct, but on later viewing the photos, the white background appears to be grey.
I have attached a sample image to show the grey colour.
especially when using the auto mode when taking the photos.
I am not concerned about the picture quality only the grey background and I did not undertake a WB as I thought that this was part of the auto mode when taking the photo. the shot was taken by half pressing the shutter release butto to ensure that everything was OK then continuing to fully press the button.
When using elements 12 as an external editor from aperture the elements opens but no photo appears. In elements 9 it worked fine. Do I have a set up issue?
It worked fine with elements 9 always worked well.
It just appears as one line however big i make the text box and the text overlaps so its all one illegiable line.

I have installed a patch to Windows as recommended by regular Windows 'security scan' in the past few days. I do not want to rewind to before the patch as, presumably, it is required. It was working fine last week opening as required. Now it seems to be about to open when clicked but then does not. Nothing in Task Manager to show it might be running in the background. For instance after converting an image to B&W, the action is done, but the options to select the presets and finetune the conversion is not displayed. All other menu's are greyed out, so apparently the program is assuming that it is waiting for input from my side.
This applies to more similar situations like applying curves...
How this can happen? The window is not behind the images or hidden...
