I have used Photoshop elements for a long time. I continue to upgrade b ut each version seems to run slower then the one I'm upgrading from. Elements 10 is so bad that I have been using 8. I use Windows 7 Home Premium, I have 4 gig memory. I do not have problems with any other programs.
View 1 RepliesI have a bunch of parts drawings created in LT 98 that I am now editing in LT 14. For the most part I haven't had issues. However, I have been having a big issue with the Text function. It doesn't matter if I am trying to enter new text (Multi or Single line), or if I try to edit the existing text. Either way, the program immediately locks up & will not snap out of it.

Largest file has about 12 layers, including 3 layers with rasterized PDFs and about 9 layers that have blocks of filled color with craquelure & inner shadow added.]

I cannot share photos from my Elements 8.0 Organizer via email. The program does not recognize that I have an email program loaded. The computer is a new HP desktop with Windows 7 Home Premium Service Pack 1 operating system. My Elements 8 does everything I need except for the photo sharing so I don't really want to purchase a new version.

I have reinstalled photoshop.
I found another issue(s) with the latest Photoshop. Incompatible plugins, lie Topaz Denoise from Photoshop 5.5, bring up an error dialog (problem with the filter module interface) which cannot be cleared with a click or a key press, rather, it just locks the program, requiring a force quit. Error handling can be more robust.

I send the job, connect then hit Submit and then get the lockup
The job still submits after some time but I always have to force the program to respond. Sometimes the program will respond with 'not connected' other times I'm forced to quit
The job still renders fine - Update installed a few days ago.

Overview of Problem
When starting Lightroom the application is responsive and loads quickly. Everything appears to be normal until either the "Import Button" is clicked or the import function is accessed via the File/Import Photos menu path. When either of these routes are taken to import a photo Lightroom becomes very slow to respond. The "Import Button" will cause Lightroom to take 30 seconds to open the "Select a source" screen, however, once a source (resident hard drive file containing .jpg photos) is selected Lightroom attempts to crash then recovers itself and after 30 seconds the source will display. Attempting to access another like file in the menu structure will cause another 30 second delay.
Attempting to click away from the "Select a source" screen back to the main Lightroom parent screen will cause an immediate white screen with "Lightroom Not Responding" on the main program bar.This will happen with a click on the Parent or when using the Cancel button. Once again, Lightroom will recover itself from the crash and eventually load the Parent screen.
Attempting to once again return to the Import screen will start the entire process again.
At this point Lightroom is unstable and unusable.

Additional Actions: I have attempted intallations with all external USB devices disconnected and connected.
Note: Although there are only 4 Action items detailed I have attempted many different ways to resolve this Bug but with no success.
Having problems with Civil 3D 2010 locking up, it did when I right click in the data shortcut folder to set my working folder. When it locks up and I close Civil 3D 2010, I reopen it and Civil 3D 2010 stops loading at Loading AECC BASE UI, The only way I can use it again is to do a clean sweep uninstall and reinstall 2010. A repair does not work.

I just purchased a new computer - an HP h8-1360t with an intel i7-3770 core, 10 gigs of RAM, NVIDIA GeForce GT 630 graphics card. I have a solid state hard drive as my start up and scratch disk with a separate hard drive for files.
Everything is running very quickly in photoshop with the exception of saving my files. I'm working on photographs (around 3000x5000 pixels). I use lightroom first, then open in photoshop, adding maybe 10-15 layers. When I go to save, it takes a minute or so. I know it's not long, but it's the slowest part of my workflow, and when editing many images it really adds to the overal time. Is there something I can do to make this process faster?
I've been using CS for a short time, but when I open the file browser the program comes to a crawl. I'm currently using a laptop with a 700mhz processor and 512mb of ram. Are there any setup settings I should be using to get the thing to run faster, short of dumping the file browser?
View 4 Replies View RelatedPhotoshop CS3 opens very slowly. Not the programm, i mean the files. When i make FILE -> NEW and make my setting and press OK it takes about 45 seconds to 1 minute to make the new file.
When the file is open, it works normal till i want to make the next file.
When I have a raster image power clipped into a vector frame and I attempt to trim that power clipped image. Corel locks up.

I have need having trouble with cs6 running slowly on my iMac. The computer runs fine with all other applications but will quickly run up several gigs of page outs when handling camera raw and photoshop files, it starts to creep along after a short while. Apple ran "stress tests" on the computer and everything is perfectly functional. I used to have no issues with cs5 and the computer should be able to handle the task easily. I have tried to reinstall photoshop.
View 2 Replies View RelatedSo, I purchased CS6 when it was released and have been dealing with it's ridiculous speed ever since. It's gotten to the point where I can't tolerate it and can get no work done inside of it.
Basically, the main issue is the menu bar. I'll click on File or Image and have to wait at least 5 seconds for the menu to drop down. In the layer pallette I'll go to Alt Drag a layer and it'll freeze for a good 5-10 seconds, then reset and let me drag at will. Until I want to do another layer...then it does it all over again. Brushing occasionally becomes painfully slow and delayed. I used CS4 for years and never had these problems on the same computer. I work with extremely large files and am only having trouble with them after upgrading to CS6.
I'm running on Vista, yes I know. 6GB of Ram, so that should not be the issue. I do plan on purchasing a Mac in the next few months, but really need this problem sorted out Asap. I've googled endlessly and cannot find anything that works. I've changed drawing mode to Basic, disabled OpenGL, seemingly all of the obvious fixes, that haven't worked.
I want to use Vellum section dividers in my portfolio for the same reason everyone else likes them: they're translucence.

The first 2 photos are Illustrator files. They have a solid white background and the black text. Then, I pasted the fading images. I made these images fade on Photoshop, by using the gradient tool, and setting the fade on top of a mask.
But this doesn't work. It does not fade to nothing....but rather fades to white. I need it to fade to nothing so its somewhat translucent on my vellum.
if print like this on vellum, the image won't fade into the transparent sheet vellum sheet, but would rather fade into a white square (which will print on the vellum and therefore not be translucent).
When I make the image fade on Photoshop, I want to see the checkered pattern underneath, not another layer of white.
Simply put, my image fades to white (the white layer beneath it). I want it to fade to nothing.....so i can paste it on something else, and can see through the faded, part to whatever is underneath.
My Elements 9 program keeps crashing. This occurs often -- after I have edited, saved, and closed a photo image file. I then cannot get back into the Organizer. I have to shut down and restart Photoshop Elements in order to work on the next image. My operating system is Windows 7, 64 bit processor.
