I'm trying to build my first catalog and keep getting an Import Failed on certain files. These are .jpg images and can be opend outsid eof PSE 12 just fine. I've looked at the image properties and they look fine (just as fine as images that are able to be imported). Is there anything that can be done? I'm trying to move off of Picasa and these images have been imported just fine into Picasa.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a large image collection, in excess of 40,000. I'm running on a PC with Windows 7 and all updates installed. I just purchased PSE 11 to replace PSE 10. After installing PSE 11 I converted my catalog. That seemed to go OK. At that point I discovered that my C: drive was almost full so I decided to move my image collection from its C: drive location to an external hard drive that had sufficient capacity. In order to ensure the integrity of the catalog I decided that I should use the PSE 11 Organizer to move the files. This would allow the Organizer to update the location information for the files as it moved them, although it was clear that this would take many hours to complete. So, using Organizer I did a "drag and drop" of my image collection's root file from the C: location to the external drive which happened to be the J: drive. Organizer appeared to be running properly so I left it to continue overnight. The next morning I discovered that only about 2/3 of the files had been moved. There was a very cryptic message that said the opertion could not be completed because of "possibly unsupported files types, files with read only attributes.." etc. I did not write down the actual message and it did not tell me where in the transfer the failure occurred. After doing some detective work I discovered that many folders and files had been copied to the J: drive that were not appearing in the Organizer catalog and consequently were not being displayed. Some folders had only a portion of their files copied. Fortunately, the files were still visible and cataloged on the C: drive. I did look at my files on the C: drive and there were some that for what ever reason had read only attributes.
The selected file, files, or folders should be copied to the specified destination. At that point they should be added to the catalog, then the files should be deleted from their original location and the catalog updated accordingly. If an original file is read only then it can't be deleted but the attempt to delete it should be reported as an inability to delete with no consequences imposed on the files that have been placed in their new location. The "problem" should not be promoted to the status of a serious or fatal error that causes only partial completion of the overall operation.
I have had Elements 8 working for quit a while on a HP windows 7 64 Bit machine (years) and now suddenly the Organizer crash's when I try to start it. The editor starts and works OK. The problem seemed to start when I switched on the option to autoanalyze on startup , but cannot verify as the setting panel is in the organizer menus!
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have PSE 8, PS Premier 8 and LR 4 insta;lled and haven't had any problems with them. Yesterday I tried to open PSE 8 and received a 'Bad Image' message that stated
"C:Program Files (x86)AdobeElements Organizer 8.0amtlib.dll is either not designed to run on Windows or it contains an error. Try installing the program again using the original installation media or contact your system administrator or the software vendor for support.'
However, I went to My Pictures, selected a file that I had edited in PSE 8 a few weks ago, right clicked on Open With PSE 8 Editor and there it was. When I right clicked on Open With PSE 8 Organizer, I got the same error message as shown above. I also tried openiong Organmizer through Editor ald also got the same error shown above.
How do I resolve this? I'm running WIN 7 Pro, DELL XPS 8300.
I recently upgraded from Photoshop Elements 10 to 11. Everything works great while I am using it but if I do not do anthing in Elements for 4-5 minutes I get the 'Elements 11 Organizer has stopped working' error message, the only option I have is to push the 'Close Program' button.

Is there any external program to import face tag metadata into the organizer? I used Windows Photo Gallery to do the face tagging and it properly writes the metadata to the XMP fields. Problem is the photoshop organizer doesn't read the XMP fields! It's using it's own standard(?)
We are talking thousands of photos here so re-tagging is just not an option. Is there a way to get photoshop to import the tags and regions?

But I'm missing two options in this tool. The first is to make sub-folders with the capture-date without spaces between the date (spaces are still problems for some programs). The second option is a second location where the data is copied for backup. Today for whatever reason, when trying to import any file, say from my desktop or a download foler, the list of locations to import appears for a second, then disappears. I am unable to do any other action and have to quit or force quit. In PSE Editor, I am able to open a file, but when trying to save it, I get an error that "Could not complete your request due to a Program Error". I use a Mac and just recently upgraded to OS Maverick. I also tried using PSE 11 and run into the same problem.

Unfortunately PE 11 Organizer doesn't seem to see those on import? Any suggestions on how to make that happen?
