View 1 RepliesI am fairly new to elements and I am having problems with resizing my images. I have cropped some images and want to upload them to say 'photobox' but I can't seem to get the images into the correct size for printing I.e 6x4, 7x5 etc. I have also noticed that I start with an image that is say 7mb in size yet when it has been edited and uploaded it is 700k and rated as a medium quality image ?
View 1 Replies View RelatedWhen an image is cropped using the cropping tool to a preset aspect ratio (without specifying a resolution), the resolution of the cropped image is different than the original. I'd like to be able to understand exactly how this new resolution is determined and be able to calculate it myself. The help section of the software just says, "If you use a preset size, the resolution changes to fit the preset." But I'd like to know the details of how the resolution changes.
How the resolution of the cropped image is determined in Photoshop Elements?
I've cropped a 10 megapixel photo in Cs4 10X15 centimeters, but when I save it as jpeg file with maximum quality, the file is very small (200-500k)when I open it afterwards.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI am working on a MacBook Pro running 10.7.4 using CS6 and ACR 7.1.
I was shooting video with the 5DIII yesterday and shot a few stills as I was working. I shot in RAW for the stills. When I look at the still image in Photo Mechanic, I see the full image and Photo Mechanic tells me it's 5760x3840 in size.
When I open the image in Photoshop 6 using Camera Raw it shows up cropped 5760x3240 - the 16x9 video crop. But I can't get to the full image - the crop tool in Camera Raw doesn't let me reveal anymore of the image. How to see the whole photo.
This is an embarrassing question as i'm sure it's a basic photoshop tool, but I can't figure out how to take crops out of images, and merge them together to form one photo.
I have 4 photos of individual people, and I want to take equal 'slices' of them to merge into one- but still keeping the image the same size as a photo.
I know that my photo sizes are 3543px by 2362 px, and I know how to crop the images to the right size (885.75px by 2362px) but how to combine them.
Should I be using layers? I'm using CS4
Tif files when cropped and save as, seem to double in size. The crop tool is set at Unconstrained and the value boxes are empty.
e.g - Original 16bit Tif was 228.96 MB, 7304px x 5478px @ 300dpi, once cropped down to 7304px x 2390px @ 300dpi and saved as becomes 405.21 MB.

If I'm using the marquee tool to crop an image, how can I save the new cropped image as a jpeg file type rather than as a PSD, PDD file type?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI am relatively new to Photoshop, and am using CS3. I would like to be able to create a collage with a background image, with superposed layers that are each an image cropped to a circle or ellipse. I found an article on how to do this with a heart shape using Photoshop Elements. He...using-Elements), but after a few paragraphs, the controls specified there do not correspond with CS3.
Preferably I would like each circle to be framed with a relatively thin colored border, to set them apart from each other and the background. Outside the border, the circular layers should be transparent.
I understand that I can create a simple circular shape that will show up as a layer and have a corresponding path, and that I can make a selection from the path.
When merging groups in Photoshop CS6 (Command-E), the images are now being cropped to the document edge. I need to retain the image data for repositioning/sizing. This was not default behavior in previous versions and I can't find an option to change it.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI open a jpg file in gimp and use the crop tool. I see the cropped part highlighted and the part to be discarded as a surrounding shaded area. I am happy with the cropped part and open a file-save-as dialog through the file menu. I type in the file name and think I am done. But when I open the saved file, it looks the same as the uncropped file that I started with in the first place. What am I failing to do to make the gimp save my change? I guess the answer is that I didn't really make a change but only thought I did. So how do I actually change to the cropped image?

I am editing old pictures. To save time I am scanning four pictures at a time. I'm using the marquee tool to crop each picture into their own layer via right click method and choosing "Layer via copy." After I'm done doing this for all four pictures, I have to hide all but one layer, trim the project to the picture size, save it. Then I undo the trim, and start over for the next picture to save.
Is there any easier way to save each cropped section as their own picture/project at the size of their crop without effecting the other pictures? Was wondering if there was a way to crop the portions I want out but instead of copy to layer method, I could just create a new project with that cropped picture?
I work with lightroom for wedding photo. I use Book Module to prepare lay out of the final book.
When I put images in a book they are sometimes cropped by the specific page lay out.
I don't use the printing service of Lightroom, instead I prefer to send the files to my local printing service and then stick them to an album (wedding stuff).
Is there a way to export cropped images from a book?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI am now getting a program error when I try to save some images as jpegs. It seems that only a small percentage of my pics are having this issue, and they are the ones I have taken in the past two days. I can go back into my catalog and run any other pics through PSE and save as a jpeg with no problems. But if I try to do any touch ups on any of the pics from yesterday or the day before, i get the error message. I can even go back into lightroom 4 and export any pics from 3 days ago and have no issues saving them as jpegs. I always get the option to save as a jpeg, it just errors out while trying to save. I'm using a somewhat older laptop w/ vista 64 bit.

View 7 Replies View RelatedI'm in PSE 10 and when I crop a small portion of an image and accept the crop, it remains a small image instead of snapping to a larger image like it did in PSE 6. I know there must be some way to have the small image automatically made larger rather than having to click on the magnifier and "+" and then on the image until it is a size I can work on. I've checked the FAQs and Photoshop Elements 10 but can't find the answer.
