Mar 21, 2013New user to PSE11. Is it recommended that ALL photos be in albums or is the idea that photos in albums are a subset of the photos in folders? With all the sort and search functionality, I don't understand the benefit of albums.I name my image folders using a standard naming convention with the date embedded so it makes them rather easy to manage.

When I attempt to sync photos in iTunes (to synch with my iPhone), Photoshop Elements appears in the drop down and when I select it, it finds all the "albums" in the catalog. However, when I select an album to sync, iTunes indicates 0 photos are available in the album.
I'm running photoshop elements 11, iTunes 11.0.1.12, Windows 8 Pro.
if I try to sync "all photos and albums" it still reports that there are "0 photos" available to sync.
I've tried to make new albums, which iTunes "sees" the names, but there are "0 photos" available to sync.
I've also tried to sync with a folder (file system) which works just fine.

Mar 18, 2013I can not paste photos from my photos file. If I start a blank file I can paste anything photos want from the web in as many layers as I want. If I try to paste a photo from my own photos file it becomes the back ground by itself. I don't know how to stop this. Using photoshop elements 11.

Is there some way to reconcile or combine the regular lrcat and the conflicted one? Or do I have to just start using the conflicted one?
I know this all has something to do with waiting for all the files to upload and download to DropBox, and I usually don't have a problem since the 2 machines are rarely in use at once...but sometimes I need to shut down quickly or perhaps I miss part of the transfer, so I'm really just checking to see if there is some way to reconcile when I blow it.

Lightroom :: Publishing To Dropbox On Two Separate Machine?
May 28, 2013I have a bit of a unique setup which isn't quite new and isn't the issue. I have a LR 4 catalog (catalog settings) and collection of images in Dropbox that i use to do some small work between a desktop PC and PC laptop. Works fine on a good connection as long as i avoid conflicts. That's not the issue. I'm wondering if their is a solution to using publishing services in the catalog on both computer. The problem i am running into is that the destination path for each publishing service (in this case they are publishing to another folder in Dropbox to upload to someone) is unique to the machine that it was created on. So if I created the publishing service on one machine it can't be used the publish if I'm updating it on the other computer because the paths to the files are not relative.
The only solutions I can think of are:
Have the paths on both computers be exactly the same, which means updating the user account names to match on both machines.Setting up separate publishing services to the same folder for each computer (an annoying solution).Look into a dropbox plugin which i haven't done yet.
While I am at it, any add on to prioritize the LR catalog file to be the first file to sync over the connection or LAN once it closes. This would certainly work with occasional conflict file.

Jan 4, 2013My office uses Dropbox as a server for all of our working files. I can create and work with CAD files (using many x-refs) without a problem. The problem that I have occurs whenever someone else in the office tries to use the CAD file that I created with x-refs OR whenever I use a different computer station (still logged in as myself)...the X-refs are always missing (detached). I can reattach them but this defeats the purpose of using the X-ref. how Dropbox works.

May 31, 2013I have been using Dropbox to collaborate with a remote office. The problem we ran into was that for some reason, data references don't work when a drawing is reopened. In other words, when I open a drawing, none of the objects I dref'd into the drawing showed up. In the Toolspace, the objects appear just fine (i.e. no broken reference indications). If I manually synchronize the object, then it shows up int he drawings. If I save and then reopen, the reference is gone again. Feb 22, 2013I noticed that my computer was slowing up, BIG time. This thing's got dual quad core Xeon, 12gb DDR3, ATI FireGL V8600, etc. I could hear it processing something constantly and as I was in CAD I couldn't really do anything. When I opened the task manager and looked at the processes, "accoreconsole. exe" (an AutoCAD component) was using 10.5gb of memory. On my performance tab, my memory was maxed at 11.5gb for at least a half hour.
Today, I dealt with it all day long by ending the process whenever I'd notice it on the list of processes, or if the computer suddenly began to lag. I've also been having trouble with Dropbox. Not sure if this would at all be related but, if I try to save a file to a shared dropbox folder, it gets to 81% and freezes with the (Not Responding) message up top. I can save just fine to my network folder though.

All files are saved to the dropbox which is loaded on both computers that need to access the files. If I do work and save an xref in a file that is then opened by someone else on a different computer, the xref is not loaded and has to be re-routed.
