Lightroom :: Publishing To Dropbox On Two Separate Machine?
May 28, 2013
I have a bit of a unique setup which isn't quite new and isn't the issue. I have a LR 4 catalog (catalog settings) and collection of images in Dropbox that i use to do some small work between a desktop PC and PC laptop. Works fine on a good connection as long as i avoid conflicts. That's not the issue. I'm wondering if their is a solution to using publishing services in the catalog on both computer. The problem i am running into is that the destination path for each publishing service (in this case they are publishing to another folder in Dropbox to upload to someone) is unique to the machine that it was created on. So if I created the publishing service on one machine it can't be used the publish if I'm updating it on the other computer because the paths to the files are not relative.
The only solutions I can think of are:
Have the paths on both computers be exactly the same, which means updating the user account names to match on both machines.Setting up separate publishing services to the same folder for each computer (an annoying solution).Look into a dropbox plugin which i haven't done yet.
While I am at it, any add on to prioritize the LR catalog file to be the first file to sync over the connection or LAN once it closes. This would certainly work with occasional conflict file.
I am doing dynamic stimulation of machine to separate out material. When i loaded into simulation tab, the moving parts goes as grounded objects. I can't do analysis the free flow of material due to its constraints restrictions. I didn't constraints those components in assembly. Even, i set the flexible option in main assembly. I am not sure where i went wrong. How can i overcome this problem ? I am beginner to Inventor.
It seems that when I use my laptop to add keywords to LRCAT, I wind up with a conflicted copy in my dropbox folder...
Is there some way to reconcile or combine the regular lrcat and the conflicted one? Or do I have to just start using the conflicted one?
I know this all has something to do with waiting for all the files to upload and download to DropBox, and I usually don't have a problem since the 2 machines are rarely in use at once...but sometimes I need to shut down quickly or perhaps I miss part of the transfer, so I'm really just checking to see if there is some way to reconcile when I blow it.
How do i get my photos from a folder in lightroom 4.3 to Dropbox? when i put go to export in lightroom i only have option to burn to dvd, email or move to my hard drive.
I now have Two Macs next to each other. The older one is a MacBook Pro, the new one the new iMac.
Now, I have my Lightroom Library on the older computer, but I would like to have the same one with the same settings on the new iMac. But, when I need to, I would also like to keep the same one on the MacBook for when I'm working out of office.
How can I fix this, and can my Dropbox Pro 200 GB account?
Got a new computer. Copied and upgraded Photoshop CS2 to CS5. I would like to give the old computer to a family member or friend. Will they be able to use the CS2 on the old machine? (an iMac 10.6) or is that the end of that CS2?
I use a iMac to capture and tag photos as finalist. I then transfer the folder to another machine for editing. When I add the images into the editing machines lightroom, all the tags, ratings, stars, colors don't show up.
When I was on Lr3 on both machines, these tags transferred. Even when a client used Bridge, they showed up. Now, not so much.
I have installed Lightroom 5 Beta on my new Windows 8 PC a few weeks ago and have a serious problem with it - ocassionally (From a few minutes to an hour), while I am working on Lightroom, I get a blue screen saying something about a problem with "Memory Management", and the PC reboots.
Also on D: is D:DataMy Catalog 7catalog.pse7db, D:DataMy Catalog 7 humbe.5.cache and D:DataMy Catalog 7itemData.mk4 with other 1KB files; these are pointed there using Elements 7 options.
The pc runs Elements 7 with all images tagged in Organizer.
D: is a separate physical 1TB drive. D: is backed up to a USB drive; this backup drive (500GB) is now almost full (it also backs up other machines drives) hence why I will use the current 1TB image drive as backup and retire/reuse the 500GB drive.
I now have a new 64 bit pc with its own 1TB drive, on which I would like to run Lightroom 4 with Elements 10 for additional editing. I would like to store the both Main Images currently on D: drive in C:UsersMeMy Pictures on the new machine. The 1TB drive from the old machine is now in a USB housing and will act as the onsite backup for all the images and image data and other machines drives.
I have all my images tagged in Elements 7. Can Lightroom read/use these tags?
If so what is the best way to get my images and their tags into C:UsersMeMy Pictures and Lightroom?
Trialing Lightroom 3.6 on my iMac. My wife and I have different user profiles and logons on the machine. I want to access the same catalogue crated under her logon and user profile. How do I get Lightroom to use the catalogue created under another username on the same machine?
Lightroom 4.3 won't start up on my Windows 8, 32 bit machine. Install went fine but when I click on the Lr icon the program appears to start up and I get the Lr in the task bar at the bottom and when I hover over the icon I get a thumbnail of the start screen. When I hover over the thumbnail of the start screen it appears on my desktop but when I move the mouse off the thumbnail the start screen disappears from the desktop so there is no way to get past this point.
I am having a problem setting up Lightroom 4.3 Publishing Services. Each time I click “OK I’ll Authorise button in Flickr it goes to a blank screen with no completion of the process. After many attempts over the last couple of days, this morning I was able to get error message from flickr that says “Oops! Flickr doesn't recognise the "oauth_token" this application is trying to use.” And goes on to say “You don't really need to know what this means, except that you can't use the application until this problem is fixed. (It's a third-party problem, not a Flickr problem).
I moved my lightroom 3.6 catalog to a new machine ( a Win7 machine so I could upgrade to version 4 and 5). When I did that photos that I had tagged as RED came over without the RED color and just a white box in the lower right-hand corner of the grid view.
I cannot establish a publishing connection to Flickr from Lightroom 4.3. I get this message: Oops! Flickr doesn't recognise the "oauth_token" this application is trying to use."
When publishing to an existing set on Flickr the entire set description is delted. Very frustrating. I hope Lightroom 5 will have a greatly improved publishing system, the present one is a disaster.
I'm using Lightroom 4.0 and I'm having problems with the Flickr Publish Service. In the publishing manager, the incorrect login shows and the logout button is non functional. I need to authenicate to Flickr's API with the correct login. I've tried un-installing and re-installing, but to no avail. I have no idea where the plugin picked up the displayed login name from as it's not one that I've ever used. Is there a way that I can force a logout so that I can enter the proper information.
After deleting and recreating the "publishing service" in Lightroom, I was able to export a single photo. That's it. Doesn't work. Very similar to the Facebook publishing plugin, which does not work either.
Also, why do I have to wait for "downloading comments" and similar stuff? We have the web browser to interact with the website, only a fool is going to do it in Lightroom.
I'm wondering if the people designing and coding these things for Lightroom do actually ever get to use it. The answer obviously is no, because then they would know that their software doesn't work.
Is there an easy way to publish an image to FB's Wall, vs. creating or adding to a current album? Is there a special setting hiding somewhere in the Publish section?
When using the Publish function, LR sometimes publishes a number of photos with no problem, sometimes only the first one, sometimes it publishes but says the operation failed, and sometimes it behaves like mission accomplished when nothing published at all!
I just started out using Lightroom 4 for managing family photos. What I want to do is to share the LR catalog so that my kids and wife can access the database from their own accounts. I tried sharing the directory with the catalog and all the photos. But when I open lightroom from my kids's account, I keep getting an "unexpected error openning the catalog".
I am using Windows 8, 64bit
The catalog was created in my account (adminstrator)
the other accounts are normal accounts
I have searched around but all the questions ask about sharing on network drives. But I just want to share the catalog on the same machine on local harddrive. I made sure that all the other lightrooms are closed in the other accounts (everyone else is signed off) before I tried to open it from my kid's account.
