Lightroom :: Publishing Image To Facebook Wall?
Nov 1, 2012Is there an easy way to publish an image to FB's Wall, vs. creating or adding to a current album? Is there a special setting hiding somewhere in the Publish section?

When using the Publish function, LR sometimes publishes a number of photos with no problem, sometimes only the first one, sometimes it publishes but says the operation failed, and sometimes it behaves like mission accomplished when nothing published at all!
I am attempting to use the Facebook Publishing service but I can not get my albums to show up. I have removed autorization (both form LR and FB) and reauthorized both. This use to work for me, not sure what changed for this not to work now. I am using Windows 7 64 bit, LR 4.4.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have installed Infrastructure Design Suite 2014 on one of my users' workstation and one of the several problems she is having I can't find info on anywhere: When she uses the DWG to PDF driver she is getting strange artifacts that, at first glance, look like little blocks randomly placed around her drawings. These are always over/ in viewports. They do NOT show up in plot preview. I tried plot and publish. Both give same results. When zoomed in you can see they are tiny little viewport control dialog boxes that seem to have been placed on the plot at random.

I'd suggest something matching with the text.. something dark and devilish? Also also, do keep in mind that it should be in a proportion to fit the facebook cover perfectly.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI created an image using the new Gimp 2.8 update, but when I try to upload the image to Facebook it gets all blurry. Any other photos I upload are fine, and I made another image in Gimp 2.6 of the same size (2400 pixels x 1800 pixels) which uploads normally, but for some reason no matter what I do the new picture made in 2.8 always uploads blurry.
I exported the image to jpeg format (although I also tried png) without messing with the export settings at all. Do I need to change them to make it upload to Facebook normally?
I sent my PSD file to a publishing company and they sent me this reply:
"The PSD file is close. It is missing the fonts and is in RGB format. Both will need to be corrected in order to produce the magnet. I can't tell the PMS colors from the file (RGB issue) and the fonts (text) was not converted to outlines. Someone on your end really should do these fixes. We would be guessing. Other than that, it looks good. The image looks just like your JPEG copy. The text may not look right to you either but that is the font issue. Someone just needs to call out what font they are using. The exact font."
How the heck do I save my file in PMS color? And what outlines or 'call out' font are they talking about?
I have not been available to upload the graphic to Facebook fanpage. Has this feature been blocked via the trial version?

I go to the Lightroom Publishing Manager, and in the middle it says, "Videos will not be uploaded into this album. Facebook organizes them under "My Videos". OK, but it doesn't have an option for selecting that album.

View 2 Replies View RelatedMy .JPG exports look more vibrant and contrasty when viewed on Flickr and Facebook. I didn't have this issue until I calibrated my monitor. I recently purchased a new monitor (Dell Ultrasharp U2711) and went with the factory calibration for awhile. Using the factory calibration my test prints were acceptable for color but the prints came back a little too dark so I decided to calibrate the monitor with an Xrite i1. I haven't submitted test prints with the new calibration on the monitor yet but I have exported and uploaded some .JPG's to Flickr and Facebook and they look way more vibrant and modestly more contrasty than they do in Lightroom.I want others to see my images the way I intend them to.
When exporting the images I have always selected sRGB as the color space. I tried selecting the monitor profile as the color space for the .JPG's but it didn't make a difference. The exported .JPG images looked the same on Flickr and Facebook. I also tried using a color space called sRGB IEC61966-2.1 but it did not correct the boost in saturation and contrast that I am seeing now either.
I want my exported .JPG's displayed on Flickr and Facebook to look the same as they do in Lightroom. I had no problems with this when I first got the new monitor and was using the factory calibration. It's only become a problem since calibrating the monitor with the i1. I don't think I can go back to using the factory calibration but even if I could, eventually I am going to have to calibrate my monitor.
I don't often publish to facebook, but in the past I have created several collections under the facebook publish service, each going to its own album of the same name.
However today I decided to add 2 photos to an existing album, but when I click publish they appeared in a new album called "Adobe Photoshop Lightroom Photos" instead of the existing album.
Is this a change in the plugin or maybe something facebook has changed?
Is there any way to get it to publish direct to albums again?
I have Lightroom 4.3 and am using Windows 7, 64 bit, and wanted to use publish services with Facebook. Add photos to Facebook through Lightroom which is stated possible. When I try to utilize it, I am told under the Mozilla Firefox that
" it doesn't know how to open this address, because the protocol (lightroom) isn't associated with any program. You might need to install other software to open this address."
I'm attempting to set up the Facebook plug-in in LR4. I get as far as logging into Facebook, and clicking "allow" on the permissions page. Then LR4 attempts to go to: URL....
which of course, fails and LR complains that it did not receive the authorization token from Facebook.
I have LR 5.3 and when I go to File>Plug-In Extras it says "(none defined), even though when I go to the Plug-In Manager it indicates that the Facebook plug-in (and others) is installed and running. The Facebook plug-in is on my machine but LR doesn't seem to recognize it. All I want to do is export some photos to Facebook.

This plug-in’s post-processing task did not finish successfully.

Now I have searched and searched for answers, which is normally it's a permission problem with facebook. Well it's on fb page, it's set to public and app has a permission of public.
I have removed the app from fb, removed authorisation from lightroom, deleted the prefs file, logged out of fb, tried to publish when all access to fb was logged out etc, etc and still no joy.
It doesn't matter if it's a new album, an existing album, my profile or a page!

Any user who uses Facebook to showcase image galleries knows that Facebook changes how images are displayed from time to time. One month it will be on a black background and the next on a white background. And then they put overlay's on top of your images and they change things around whenever they wish. There is not rock solid consistency from Facebook on how they display your images across devices or over time.
What I am trying to do is to add some consistency to how my images are displayed by adding my own border to my images.
Ideally, I would want Lightroom to add a border for me based on some setting under the export manager. But as far I know there is no setting to do this? (Why doesn't lightroom have any border options anywhere yet for anything it exports? This would be relatively simple I think.)
Here is the only way I know how to solve my issue.
First, my other considerations: I want to keep my original images in my catalog in tact and as is w/o a border and with layers if it is a .psd file. I do NOT want to destructively add a border to the catalog images, only the images that end up on Facebook. I also want to add my watermark image to the final image so that it is done as the last step so that the bottom part of my watermark shows my web site address over the white border on the bottom of the image. Using a droplet and the watermark in the same step does not work properly because it applies the watermark before it runs the action, not after.
I have created an action to add a x pixel white border by: Merging (flatten) all layersCreating a new unlocked background "image" layerExpanding the canvas by x pixels.Creating a new white filled layer and moving it to the bottom of the layer's pallet.Adding a 2 pixel black inside stroke to my image layer and adding a drop shadow. I created a droplet from this action and put it in the droplet folder for LR.
Now for the repeated steps that I am going through...
Select the images that I want to write to Facebook.Export these images to a new folder using the droplet.Import the folder of all of these images back into Lightroom.Move the new images with borders on them into the correct LR FB publish service.Publish the photos using the sharpening and watermark settings.Delete the .psd files created in Step #2.
The steps that I would like to avoid are #2, #3, #6
I'm using Windows 7/32 + LR 3.2 + FF as my default browser
For the last several days I've been trying to get the Facebook Publish Service authorized against my facebook account without sucess. Facebook would add the lightroom application to my list of approved applications, but LR would not recognize that the auhorization was sucessfull after I clicked the "Allow" button in Facebook. I tried this with Firefox, Chrome, and IE and all three browsers failed. Firefox threw an error about the (lightroom) protocol being unknown and then redirected to my Facebook Wall. IE would simply say that it could not open the web page. And Chrome did something similar but I cannot remember the details (I think it redirected too). In all cases LR would report that the Facebook Publish Service was not authorized. I tried reinstalling LR several times and I tried adding the lightroom protocol to FF and associating it with LR but to no avail. Finally I stumbled upon a process that worked for me.
If this is the error you are seeing, then the procedure below should allow you to get properly authorized in LR:
If you already tried and failed to authorize then go into you Facebook Application Settings (Account --> Application Settings) and remove/deauthorize the LR application (using whatever browser you like to do this).Make IE your default browser. This is just temporary, unless you like it like that. You have to use IE, FF won't work and since IE worked here I didn't try Chrome. When LR opens the browser to authenticate you it needs to open IE, not FFOpen LR and click the "Set Up..." link for Facebook Publish Service. Then click the "Authorize on Facebook" button. When IE opens log into FB if your not already, then click the Allow button to authorize LR.If your having the same problem I did then IE will immediately throw up an error saying that it couldn't open the requested page. Look at the URL in the address bar. It should begin with "lightroom://...". Select and copy the entire URL to you clipboard.Go back to LR and click the "Done" button. This will return you to the Facebook Publish Service Setup Dialog and you should see that you are still not authorized. Dang! But you'll notice that the "not authorized" label is not a hyperlink. Click it. This will open a dialog prompting you for the authorization URL. Paste the URL you copied from IE into this box and click OK.You should now be authorized. You can now restore you prefferred default browser.
Tried to publish to face book in Lightroom 4 and 4.4 on both PC and Mac. You can create a new empty album in FB from Lightroom but Lightroom will not the allow you to select the album to upload the images. You just get an error message at the bottom of the screen telling you "error - no album selected" Wasted hours trying to get it to work as per Julian Kost video tutorial.

How can I fix this since I do share a lot of my work on Facebook as well.
I cannot get the correct code from Facebook to link to LR4. The publish manager displays the plug is installed and running, but then when I try to publish, I get a message from Internet Explorer and Firefox it does not know what to do with each particular protocol.

It says, "Adobe Photoshop Lightroom is requesting permission to do the following - Manage my Pages -Adobe Photoshop Lightroom may login as one of my Pages". There is an icon on the right to click on in order for it to be able to do so, but it is grayed out so I can do nothing. What do I do to correct this ongoing problem?
