Photoshop Elements :: Organizer Doesn't Die On Exit
Dec 12, 2012I've been using Photoshop Elements for more than 10 years now and I use it for 40,000+ photos, videos and PDF.
I'm currently using Elements 11 on 64 bit Windows 7, but the problem has been there for the last few versions. I've had a consistent problem that when I exit the organiser, the process is left running. I can see it listed in the task manager. In order to re-lauch the program, I have to first kill the process.

Dec 20, 2012I downloaded some photos to a file under my Photos. When I go to get photos from the file, they aren't there (in windows explorer). What is locking these out?I've tried other downloads, they work fine. Running version 10. I uninstalled & re-installed with no luck.

Apr 28, 2013Having installed Photoshop Elements 11(Windows 7) I cannot open the Organiser from the welcome screen. It can be opened via the Editor but few of the thumbnails are shown as pictures rather as empty squares. The situation does not improve with time but tends to get worse with pictures turning into squares. I have tried the tip with preferences but to no avail.

Aug 7, 2013I have a problem with the organizer 10. Im using the program for longer times without any problem.But since nearly a week the new pictures, i import to my PC will not shown as a miniature in the organizer screen. i only see a sand-glass. Older pictures are already to see and i can select a single picture to see just this one...it will be shown.
I try to reorganize my catalog...doesn't change.

Nov 6, 2012the organizer doesn't present thumbnails in alphabetical order which is crucial for my business as everything I do is based on a running number. There fore I like to suggest to Adobe to create a patch where this problem is fixed. Its a shame that Elements 11 doesn't contain this function as it has any way been improved in so many other ways.

Jan 6, 2014I have been using PSE 8.0 for three or four years now, and I have never experienced any problems with it. Today, after installed a Wacom Intuos Creative Pen Tablet, my PSE 8.0 would not open-- nor would Editor and Organizer. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the program, renaming certain files (as read in other answers), creating shortcuts to bypass the Welcome Screen (which also will not appear), among other solutions that I read about for similar problems. Whenever I attempt to open Organizer, a crash report appears, stating that the program has quit unexpectedly--that's all it says. If I try to open PSE 8 or Editor, the circle next to my cursor appears for a moment, but soon it disappears without a single pop-up or explanation as to why the program won't open. Since I cannot access the Welcome Screen, I cannot locate the Preference file to change the name/delete it. If it matters, I use Windows 7.

Nov 20, 2012Installed PSE 11. OS is Win 7. Worked ok a short time then got message "PSE 11 stopped working". I try to open file from Orginizer into Expert Editor and only get a blank screen now. Tried all three ways of opening into Editor. (Works ok in PSE 9). What other info do you need to solve this problem? This is the second time this has happened. The first time I believe it corrected with out any action on my part.

Nov 24, 2012I just bought Adobe Elements Photshop and Premier 11. I spent 2 to 3 hours getting my picture video library into Adobe's organizer. I had some problems with duplicate picture (that I wanted to be there - so I had to rename them) and a couple pictures with corrupted metadata. After I got all that sorted out I am a bit miffed about the folder view on Adob'es organizer.
I love that you can switch to folder view - since this is how I have been organizing my pictures for a long time. I would like to continue organizing this way for now until I get a grasp on the other ways I can organize them in elements. However, every time I close and re-open organizer it switches back to the default view instead of folder view. there is a way to set folder view to the default view!

Nov 3, 2012I'm using Photoshop Elements 11 Organizer and Adobe Bridge CS6 concurrently. If I have Bridge open to the same folder as PSE Organizer and I do an "Add captions ..." operation to a group of files selected in the Organizer, then there is a very good chance that PSE Organizer will rename one or more files to OriginalFileName_edTMP-1.extension and leave the renamed file in the directory rather than completing the update and returning the file(s) to their original name. In most cases my original files are Nikon .nef files with .xmp sidecar files, but I've also seen this happen with .psd files. The .nef files are generally large, averaging 35 Mb per .nef image and the .psd files are usually over 100 Mb. If PSE Organizer and Bridge are open to different folders then Organizer does not leave the renamed file. logical threading error in PSE Organizer where it does not consider that another application may be monitoring the folder and also opening the files, which is what Bridge does when it discovers that a file has changed (the addition of a caption changes the file contents.) This was also a defect in PSE Organizer 10.
