Photoshop Elements :: 12 - Images Won't Open / Can't Even Create A New Image
Jan 2, 2014
I am trying to open .jpg images in Elements 12 running on Windows 8. File, Open, (select image from thumbnails provided in directory) Nothing happens. The image doesn't appear on screen. If I try to create a new image (File, New), nothing happens either.
Windows Explorer set to open image files with PSE11, but when I double click on image in WE it launches PSE11, but I then need to click on Open tab in PSE11 to get it into work window. PSE10 did not have this problem
I am a professional photographer and educator. I have a client who just purchased a Canon G16. He has PSE 10, and he has contracted with me for some tutoring. I want to include editing G16 Raw images.
However, I wonder if PSE 10 can open G16 Raw images? My client's computer is not powerful enough to upgrade to PSE 12.
I understand that I can have him convert the Canon G16 Raw images to DNG's using the free Adobe converter and import those into PSE 10, but I was hoping that PSE 10 could use the new 8.2 Raw Converter from Adobe that includes the G16, so it could import the images directly.
For some reason, I am no longer able to move files over to photoshope from within the Lightroom developments module. The option to "Edit in photoshop" is greyed out.
Photoshop starts as normal. When I do File>Open or File>New nothing happens. [URL]
I've uninstalled, deleted all AppData and ProgramFiles folders, installed, updated. Still no luck. Version 12.0.4 x64.I've removed all printers.I've done the preferences reset trick by holding down CTRL+ALT+SHIFT when launching Photoshop.I've done the super weird ESC and CTRL+SHIFT+S described in the last link above (sounds like nonsense!). Photoshop was working fine on this same computer earlier, but one day decided to stop working. Can't even access the Adobe Chat support for CS5 even though I paid them a lot for this currently 100% useless software.
I'm not able to open the "Create"-tab in elements 10 anymore. It onlys says "initializing" but nothing happens. I've tried to reinstall the application using the uninstaller, without success. I run Mac on OSX 10.8.2 What should I do?
I can create a rotating image with sevaral images in Photoshop? Much like a gif? Would this improve my page load time or would it be the same as loading a slideshow? Here is an example of what we wanna do
I'm traveling right now and so not in my natural environment, dont have full resources. I'm using my Mac Book Pro and doing some light editing. I can not, however, get Lr3 and PSE9 to play nice together though. If in Lr3 I request <Edit in PSE9> it only tries to launch PSE even if it is already open but will not open the imaged. If I drag the images from Lr3 to PSE it will be locked and I can not even create a duplicat layer.
HW & SW: Nikon 3200: Apple MacBook Pro OS v. 10.8.5, Adobe Photoshop Elements 11, Adobe Lightroom 5, Adobe DNG Converter
I had a Nikon D60 and used a removable card to store images. No problem. One week ago, I bought a Nikon D3200 and still use the same memory cards I had used with the D60. I have taken about 100 pictures in Aperture, Shutter and Automatic mode, all in RAW format.
Am using Nikon Transfer to import the images from the card to the MacBook.
Photoshop will open JPEG images captured from the D3200 in the JPEG format, but not those captured in RAW format.
I can preview the images on the D3200, but when I download to the Mac, the images do not open in Photoshop Elements 11, or in Adobe DNG 8.2, or in Adobe Lightroom 5.
Photoshop failure message is: “Could not complete your request because the file appears to be from a camera model which is not supported by the installed version of Camera Raw. Please visit the Camera Raw documentation for additional information.”
DNG Converter failure message is: “The source folder does not contain any supported camera raw files.”
Adobe Lightroom failure message is: “The files are not recognized by the raw format support in Lightroom.”
I have downloaded most recent versions of Adobe Camera Raw and Adobe DNG. I have also uninstalled and then reinstalled Adobe Photoshop Elements 11. When I try to open or import the images, the same failure messages occur.
I am trying to create a custom image that I will later use to crop my pictures to that shape. I have been search the web and can't seem to find how to do that with Photoshop Elements 10.
I have loaded about 10 pictures in the editor of elements 10. I want to save them to an sd card. When I try to do that it tries to save all of my pictures instead.
I recently upgraded to the Nikon D600. With that, I’m unable to open RAW images in the programs that I currently have (PS Elements 9). Does Photoshop Elements 11 have the correct software (Camera Raw 7 and higher)? Or will I need to get the full version Photoshop CS6?
I've created a collage using Microsoft Picture It! by cutting images out of photographs and layering them. Can I open this file in Photoshop Elements and be able to move the layered images around separately?
how do i open or drag multiple images onto the same window or blank background in elements 11? was easy in 2.0 as all images were available on same page. where is this option in 11?
My Windows 7 and Photoshop Elements 10 will not open image CD's downloaded from another Photoshop file. Could open them in a previosu Windows XP and older Photoshop. Now get message: "This file does not have a program associated with it for performing action. Please install a program or, if one is already installed, create an association in the Default Program default control panel."There are hundreds of asscociation files listed.
After I open a create new image, the cursor disappears and the last tool I choose (rectangle...) appears and the cursor (arrow) disappears. Is this standard or is there a way to exit from the tool box and use just the arrow cursor?
PSPro X. Any easiest way to compose an image comprised of 2 imported pictures.I want to have an image made up from 2 jpeg photos and have the two alongside each other, ie one of the bride on the left side and one of the groom taking up the other half of the finished image on the right side.
How to set image size/resolution when opening a raw file in pse 11 editor? win 7 pro; pse 11 settings: edit>preferences>print resolution = 337.596, screen resolution 109 dpi( 27 inch, dell U 2711). Originally print resoltuion was set to 240 dpi but was changed in case this was causeing a problem. CRAW v 7.4.0.137 Camera alpha 65, image size is: 6000x3376 dpi; (83.33x46.88 inch) Problem is: Currently when I edit a RAW file in CRAW and then open in pse editor image size is: 6000x3376 px; 25x14.667 inches at 240 dpi ( by ration this corresponds to:17.773x10 inch at 337.6 dpi)
I am trying to change settings so the raw file opens as: 17.776x10 and anywhere from240 to 337.6 dpi whatever works or is esiest to set.
My settings are for use in creating blue ray dvd movies and with cropping and editing printing high quality pictures for family.
I just purchased PSE 12. In Lightroom 5, I can set up an Edit in Photoshop Elements preset.
When I try to edit a .dng or .cr2 raw image in PSE from Lr5, the first dialog I get asks if I want to edit a copy with Lr adjustments. Then PSE opens but no file(s) are loaded.
If I open the file directly from PSE 12, it will open (with Lr5 adjustments)... but that's not the point.
getting the Lightroom 5 --> PSE 12 workflow to operate properly?
For several years I have been managing my photos in iphoto and using PSE as an external editor for editing images. I currently use PSE 11 on an iMac with OS X Lion (version 10.7.5). My iPhoto Library is divided into a number of sub-libraries via iPhoto Library Manager. I have unexpectedly encountered a problem attempting to edit a RAW image (in this case a .NEF image from a Nikon D200) in a sub-library containing images shot in 2007. When I right click on the image and select Edit in External Editor the image opens in PSE 11 Editor, but it opens as a jpeg and not as an .NEF image. This is in spite of the fact that in iPhoto/Preferences/Advanced/RAW Photos I have checked "Use RAW when using external editor."
As an alternative approach I tried dragging and dropping the RAW image into the PSE 11 Editor icon in the Dock, but I got the same result.
