Photoshop :: Display CRW (Raw) Images In Bridge CS6?
Sep 20, 2012
I have recently upgraded from PS CS3 direct to PS CS6. I have an issue with the display of raw images taken by my Canon PowerShot S70 camera (.CRW format). Many of the portrait-style images are displayed as landscape. This appears to be random as not all portrait images are affected.
I did not have this problem with CS3. I have discussed the matter with the Adobe helpdesk which suggested various remedies (purging cache, resetting preferences) to no avail. They came to the conclusion that PS CS6 does not fully support the file structure generated by this camera in that it cannot detect from the file data that it should be displayed as a portrait image rather than as a landscape image.
I have two issues with this. Firstly, if true, it means that PS CS6 has taken a slightly backward step as far as I'm concerned and secondly, it does not answer the random nature of the incorrect display.Obviously I want these images to be displayed correctly. I can rotate them in Bridge/PS manually, but I have a lot of them scattered over many folders and it is a task I would rather be automated.

This issue also occurs in Windows 7 Home Premium, but as I was using Win 7 HP with CS3 without this display issue, it appears to be an Adobe problem as it only occurred after the upgrade to CS6.
I am unable to display raw files automatically when downloaded into CS3 bridge from a D300 camera. My working system consists of : Windows XP, PSCS3 with camera raw_5_3, dng converter 5_2. Interestingly, similar raw files from a D70 camera display as expected without any problems. Is this a problem with the D300 camera?
I'm working on a textbook that's a mix of new images and pickups from the previous edition. I've noticed that many of the new images I've created with transparent backgrounds and saved as PSD files in CMYK mode display as negatives in Bridge.  I just now made some edits to a legacy file that was displaying properly in Bridge. I added some layers, deleted other layers, and saved the file with no color profile, and as soon as it refreshed in Bridge, it was a color negative.  what's going on here? I'm using Photoshop and Bridge CS5.1 on a Mac running OS 10.8.4.
I am having a problem with tif and psd, (& I see now it’s on some jpg) images displaying properly on my XP SP3 desktop. The thumbnail looks ok, but the preview image appeared rippled, and none of the original image is discernable.I’m using PSCS4 Extended. I’ve looked on my Vista Ultimate SP2 laptop and for the same program the images are displaying fine. The Adobe programs on the desktop are up to date .The images in question on the desktop appear fine in Photoshop or IrfanViewer. I have copied on of them to the laptop and in Bridge on the laptop it appears fine.I’m assuming that somehow, Adobe Bridge has got corrupted on the desktop. Is there any way to cleanly reinstall just bridge?
When I open bridge CS5 i see my jpegs thumnails for a second, then they all convert to the jpeg icon and I get this message.
"Could not complete your request because a SOFn, DQT, or DHT JPEG marker is missing before a JPEG SOS marker".Â
I try rebuildign the cache then they all conver to the icon. I have thousands of jpegs. How do I corect this? Â They do open in the mac preview, but that is useless for lage folder previews.
How can I get photos in folders on an external hard drive to display in Bridge? At present only those located in Users>Pictures will display. I'm in CC.
We are teaching 3 young 8 year olds Dreamweaver CS6 and Photoshop CS6 (recent installations). We are going fine with Dreamweaver but then we needed to learn how to manipulate images. In particular make new logos for the site and create images for uplaoding from the camera.  We are new to photoshop CS6 but wouldn't expect the issues we are getting right now.  We can't open jpegs completely. We get a transparent background or just a part image. Must be something we are doing wrong I guess. It looks fine in Bridge but really isn't loading well in Photoshop.  Here is where you can see about the laptop we are using : [URL]....  Here is a screendump of the issue: [URL]....  By the way this is a site [URL]....which we are using dreamweaver for. We have made a members login page which appears to be working but as you can see unfortunately we badly need to create a logo and make some images for their site which isn't created yet. If I can keep them from games and from Minecraft then we will make progress  It needs to be ready soon so that I can get a domain for them and host it on my Dad's servers.
multiple image layouts where images are placed with mini bridge are not editable until the layout is saved, well still not, save and reopen and the images are not placed in the layout. deleated ps6 today, reinstalled, updated, purchased cc for ps.... still not working
I'm trying to download my pics from a card reader on a Mac via Bridge rather than Lightroom. It can see my images but when I try to select a destination folder it freezes leaving the only option to force quit.
thumbs and larger previews in CS5 bridge look too light and lack contrast. When opened in photoshop they look fine. Can I adjust the way images look in bridge?
I have installed and updated both PhotoshopCC and BridgeCC.
I can display the images in Bridge. However, whenever I double-click on them I get the following error message' "Windows cannot find C:ProgramfilesAdobeAdobe Photoshop CS6 (64 bit). Make sure you typed the name correctly and the try again."Â I can open the files from PhotoshopCC without going to Bridge.
What can I do? This may be related to the above problem: PhotoshopCC does not seem to set the file associations.
Recently, Bridge has stopped opening pictures in Photoshop CS6. Each time I try the screen signals that Photoshop has to close down. However, I can open the pictures in ACR 7.4, but again, those images will not open in Photoshop. If I use the Mini Bridge in Photoshop, everything works fine, It seems there is a problem in the link from Bridge CS6 to Photoshop CS6.
If I want to load images into the bridge, if I put a stick to the pc it always connects me to Lightroom. What can I set that the windows appears that I can choose if I want to open it with bridge. I use a PC
RAW images opened in CS2, Bridge or Lightroom have bands of different colors depending on the image and are unusable. Running Windows Vista 32 on Dell Desktop 531 w/2g of ram. Have been searching but haven't found a solution. I have not called Adobe yet.
Lightroom stopped running on Vista 32 windows error message says "Lightroom has stopped running windows is searching for a solution to the problem". At the same time Lightroom works fine on my laptop running Vista 32.
Lightroom will not display preview images during import of raw images. Any images in other formats display fine but with raw images I get a gray window the size of the preview image and the words "preview unavailable for this file".
An interesting abnormally with Bridge 5.0.2.4 X64 Â Bridge is loosing images with keywords. After purging the cache and running a search all images return. However, this does not retain the images. I have seen the images disappear while watching the screen. Subsequent searches only retains a few of the hundreds of images with the keyword. Â I have also removed and re-installed Bridge to no avail. I also believe I have the latest updates?
I normally shoot with my Nikon D3, But I recently borrowed a Canon. When viewing my Nikon Raw images in Bridge, I am able to see the Images. But when I try to view the Canon Raw Images, all I see are Icons. Is there a setting that allows me to see the Cannon Raw Images? Â I am using Windows 2000.
When I bring an image from bridge into photoshop CS5 the image sometimes (more than I would like) breaks up into multiple images in the same window. (see attached example). It was suggested that my video driver may need updating but on checking I have the latest drivers!
This problem has only been happening for about a month and everthing was working fine before that. Im running win7pro 64 bit and am running photoshop from my ssd drive. The display driver is a Nvidia Geforce 240 which again has been fine previously. Would it be worth unistalling/reinstalling the program, just a thought!
Photoshop and Bridge CS5 does not rotate SOME of my vertical images. Most other photos taken in the same time frame and with the same camera display perfectly. Orientation is checked for display under Preferences, Metadata, Camera Data.  There also seems to be a discrepancy how Orientation is described under Metadata for those images which DO auto rotate : sometimes it is -90 (which is how I hold the camera for verticals and which displays on most verticals) and sometimes it is "normal" even when it has auto rotated the image.  I do not understand this difference."Normal" is also used to describe the orientation of those images which DO NOT auto rotate for viewing.  The photos in questions were taken using a Nikon D-300 which is programmed to indicate the orientation of the camera and has always been programmed to do so. I know I can manually change the orientation but we are talking about hundreds of images (I have over 10,000 photos in all; most of which display fine). What should I be looking for to explain and correct this issue?
Re: Icon issues in Bridge CS3 and also with Photo Downloader that have never been there before.     So, these are the issues.  Just one of the folders that previously would show thumbnails now only shows DNG icons, and none will open in Photoshop to let me work on previous image.   Issue #2 - can't download images with Photo Downloaders - both my wife's Canon G9 only shows CR2 icons, and my Nikon D300 only shows NEF icons - neither of these issues had appeared before or been an issue. Third issue. None of my Bridge folders - even those with regular thumbnail immages- will open now - get a message that says words to the effect of Photoshop doesn't recognize this type of file. Computer is a Mac, with OS 10.5.8  I recently tried to make more room on HD, so must have taken some critical files/commands out by accident. I'm sure that in trying to correct things have made things even worse- as may be noticed by the two snapshots I've attached. The first is one from a library from my user section. The second library image is from my hard drive. Hopefully you and others aren't laughing or crying too much over what you see - redundantcy, etc! All of my energies have focused on taking photos, obviously none to proper setup/use of organizing things on my Mac. I am most anxious to getting back to working with and saving images.  "user image"  Hard Drive image:
For no reason that I can think of, When I click on a single image in Bridge to preview or to try and select multiple images to load as layers or merge to HDR, the first image clicked opens in ACR. How can i Stop this?
I haveElements 9 and CC on the same computer. When I click to open images from Bridge, 9 is shown as the Default and CC is not shown. How do I eliminate Elements 9 as the Default?
I'm on a MacBook Pro retina.  While I have a 500 Gb hard drive, I notice that the Bridge CS 6 cache is getting larger quickly (looking forward to 1 Terabyte SSDs).  I have most of my images on external hard drives, but Bridge CS6's cache seems to be on my computer.  Can I store the Bridge cache locally?  So, if I have 1000 images on hard drive A, the cache for them would be on hard drive A.  And for 100 TIFFS on hard drive B, the cache would be on hard drive B.  And for the 100 most recent TIFFs I keep on my computer's hard drive, the Bridge cache would be on my computer.  It this what checking the box next to "Automatically Export Caches To Folders When Possible" does or am I misunderstanding this - and this option only puts COPY of the cache files on the external hard drive, but the Bridge cache file on my computer still contains all the images, not matter on which hard drive they'd be?
I just finished installing photoshop, and tried to open an image to edit. The image seems to load as there is a tab for it and it is visible in the layers panel, but the area where you edit the photo itself remains grey. I have updated my video card driver software.
