I'm trying to create a solid black-line-only (clear background), maybe with some grey scale, image of curved spacetime; a good example would be that field around a black hole.
I can just invert that one, and it looks pretty cool.
But, I would really like to take this image and transform it, keeping only the black lines and maybe some grey scale.
On Photoshop CS4 - I want to place a 2d image onto a curved 3d object so that the object rotates with the picture curved right onto it. How do you achieve this?

I know that this is probably really easy to do but Im just not having much luck with it. I want to crop and image but give the image a curved border and then add a coloured edge to that border.
Ive tried using the rectangular marquee tool and applying a stroke to the end image but I am just not doing things the correct way as it doesnt seem to work out properly.
How to create a flow arrow label for a feature line that parallels the curve?
I've a vague notion that this could be done with a dynamic block and a few fancy expressions. I'm comfortable with expressions, but I've never used dynamic blocks at all, so I wouldn't know where to start.
To be clear, I know curved text is possible, but I'm looking for a curved line (ie an arc) that would look 'parallel' to the arc of the feature line (ie have the same centre point). This would have to be dynamic to allow for different radii and for flipping to the left and right side of the feature line.
Having a time getting ribs to align 2m below top of ridge beam, and connect to curved wall below. I created one, then arrayed, but the radius changes at each 2.5 degree interval. I don't think I should have to calculate the % radius change to get the beams to do this. Some constraint button maybe?
Not sure if editing a wall profile is the best way to model this, but it's working.
I want to extrude a big number of pillars to a rather complicated surface and that works out fine. But each end of the pillars warps around the surface and I want them just to go up to it and stop with a resulting horizontal face.

As you can see I need to arc the image without distorting to fit a cup template. I am more comfortable in photoshop but I can export to AI if necessary to complete which appears what I need to do via envelope distort from what I keep seeing. However, the template provided is not a path. I tried to trace template shape manually with pen tool and use envelope distort to arc my image to conform but it looked very distorted and no even close to what I was trying to achieve. I tried to do tradition arc warp in photoshop but it still seems to distort proportions.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI do a ton of rendering for my work. We have many curved surfaces within our product line. My problem is that, A lot of times my materials (jpeg's) warp and blur when added to a curve. My guess is it has something to do with the UCS orientation because if i rotate the curve to be parralell with the current UCS, the material shows up how it should, Until i change the UCS back to world.
Same Image material, Surface on left is curved and surface on right is flat. Warp.jpg
I am trying to create a puzzle from an image but I am having some trouble with the edges of each puzzle piece. Basically in short what I am doing is this.
1) I load my image in gimp (image layer).
2) Create new white layer (puzzle layer).
3) Use Filters -> Render -> Pattern -> Jigsaw...
4) From the Jigsaw windows I select; Bevel width; 0, Highlight; 0, Jigsaw style; curved.
5) I then select the white area from the puzzle later, copy this area from the image layer, and paste this on a new layer (piece layer).
6) I duplicate the piece layer (duplicate layer).
7) Paint the piece in white in duplicate layer.
8) In duplicate later I select Filters -> Blur -> Gaussian Blur
9) In piece layer I select Filters -> Map -> Bump Map
10) I select the duplicate layer as layer.
My problem is that the edges look really bad. Is there any way how I can make them look better? That is, not so much crippled? My aim is to have each puzzle piece in a different layer since I have to save them in different files. I checked several tutorials on how to create puzzles but all give me similar results.
Im trying to custom fill a curved object with a jpeg image. Im sure ive done this before with no problems but ive been doing it all morning with no success.

The tools I know are for straight walls, not curved. and the Opening/wall makes a squared opening, not curved.

As I understand it when I drag from a straight segment to create a new path for a curve and release the mouse and I should get an anchor point and one direction line and one direction point, but all I seem to get is what appears to be a tiny plus sign at the end of the line.
I need to figure out how to get a nice curved line. Just like the one below (in the label/middle area). A different designer made the bottle.
I know it has to eb the pen tool,
how I can produce curved text?
For example, txet that follows an arc, how to do distorted text, but that's not what I want.
I want the text to look normal as it follows, for example, an arc or circle.
Just wondering if anyone knew how i could put text into complex shapes?

I've figured out how to make paths...what I'm trying to do is make a line that follows a path - without having the program "fill in" the path-defined region.

I have tried messing with paths and then attempted to just do it manually/freehand but it just doesn't look right. Surely there must be a quicker simple way? Any ideas?
