Aug 10, 2012Can a file created in CS3 be opened on another computer and edited in CS6?

View 2 RepliesUsing Win7 64-bit O/S. My usual procedure from LR4 after editing is to export to Elements 9 catalog using the Cntl-Shift-E commmand. I rename the file as it suits me then export to my hard drive location by pressing "Export". I then go to PSE and get the message "New files have been found. Do you want to import?" Clicking yes adds the file to my Library. After installing LR5, I can't import edited files from LR5 OR Photoshop (CS5).Â
View 1 Replies View RelatedFor no apparent reason my PSE 11 application seems to have developed an annoying glitch whereby part way through an editing process it stops doing as requested in the "Save" options, by not saving edited files as version sets of the original file in the Organiser. The files are saved OK to My Pictures and I then get advised that a file is available to import and I have to import each one, stack it with the original, and put the edited file on top. This is driving me nuts as I have about 1000 photos to edit. My only thoughts are that I have c.30000 picture files in the Organiser (but this hasn't caused any problems in adding new files)Â and that the problem seems to have arisen since I started editing files directly from within an Album.
View 1 Replies View RelatedSuddenly the images I edit in photoshop (and then save) are appearing at the end of the folder rather than right after the original image as I much prefer.
View 1 Replies View RelatedAfter sending files to Photoshop for further editing, use simple "save" command to return them to Lightroom. That used to work but now only JPEG files do round trip, not raw files (DNGs) although round tripping to Elements works fine. Photoshop is saving them to my catalogue instead.
Adobe agent spent more than an hour tinkering with my computer before giving up. Tried to blame use of DNG but this is an Adobe invention. Also said to use synchronise folder command as a work round but this restores deleted files as well. He promised to "escalate the problem" and I would be called back, but that was a week ago.
My recently edited files do not show in the editor. All the repairs, optimise etc have been done. Photos have been saved as Jpeg and PSD and the check box to save in Organiser also ticked. Timeline does not show anything saved today and untagged media is not picking up anything.Â
View 8 Replies View RelatedWhy are my previously edited canon 5d mark 3 raw xmp files no longer recognized and all sliders set to zero? I can see the xmp files associated with the raw file in their folder. The files were originally edited in CS6/ACR 7.x -in July 2012 - and recently re-opened in the same CS6/ACR 7.x.
Â
The canon 5d mark 2 files from the same time/event are showing up fine. I have updated everything, but both before and after the update, same issue with the Mark 3 files.
Â
On a side note:We have found that opening mark 2 files (that were originally edited in CS4 / ACR 5.7) in CS 6 / ACR 7.x and making any changes such as color coding causes all previous xmp information being zero'd out in the mark 2 xmp file. Not sure if this is a symptom of the same problem? Except the difference here is the Mark 3 files have never been touched outside of version CS6/ACR7.x - however the folder which holds both mark 2 & mark 3 files from the same event has been opened in the CS4 / ACR 5.7 window but without touching the files. By opening the folder in CS4 I can see that the Mark 3 files aren't reading and then know this event was originally edited in CS6/ACR 7.x

Canon 5d Mark 3 Raw files
Knowing that a retouched photo is stored in a specific folder, how to catalog old files that are not edited? The goal is to have a full match in the catalogs.
View 4 Replies View Relatedusing lightroom 4. i have edited a bunch of raw files in LR4, before i exported the files to jpegs i accidentally deleted the raw file from the hard drive. i ca n still see the the file and images in LR4 is there any way I can export them to jpegs or do anything with them so as I can use them?? yes I have also emptied the recycle bin
View 5 Replies View RelatedI received some exported jpgs with presets (edited files). I was supposed to receive the edited original raw files.
Â
I am still learning LR but if they sent me the catalog file (lrcat) would that allow me to "zero" out all the edits they did to the files I have or would they still have to send me the originals?
I have a lot of images in my library. Last night I was working on a picture, I had to force restart the computer this morning.Just wondering if there is a way like "previous import" to show the images "Developed"
Â
I don't use smart collections much. Could that be set up as an attribute? Like the way Itunes has last played in decending order.
Â
I'll have to scroll through 5,000 images now to find it and export to PS for some final work.
I see a picture in LR4. Open with PS CS3 and crop it, save and close. Back in LR the picture remains in its unedited crop in both gallery and loupe views. If I reopen in PS the crop I made is still there. How can I preview the edited file in the new crop in LR?
View 4 Replies View RelatedWorking on an iMac in LR3, I thought I was deleting one unwanted file from disk, but actually had all 22 edited images highlighted and deleted them all. I need to undo 'delete from disk' on edited files, however 'undo' is greyed out and command Z is ineffective. I see them all in the trash and the preview shows how they appeared with my edits. When I did this once before, I moved images out of trash back into original file on the hard drive and reimported into LR3, however the edits were not maintained. I need to retain these edits (days of work!) so how do I undo my mistake?
View 8 Replies View RelatedI have been exporting photos into a folder called edited in my originals folder. then i delete the originals and dump the edited into the main folder. but then i can no longer access the photos in lightroom because it says the file is missing. what am i doing wrong? do i have to keep originals and edited photos in my folders? i try to export to replace originals but that doesnt work and it will only work if i put in sub folder. i dont want to keep a copy of originals and edited, but i also dont want to not be able to make more edits in the future.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI recently upgraded my PC and cant figure out how to see my edited files from my old hard drive. All my photo's are saved on external hard drives and I have edited thousands but cant see any of the edited versions, only the original photo. How do I get that info onto my new hard drive? I am using Lightroom 4.
View 2 Replies View RelatedWhen NEF (raw files) in LR4 are edited, it generates two additional files: tiff and jpg (by "save as"). Later on, when I want to furhter edit those images, how do I start with?   Obviously, I could re-edit from history panel of the orignal NEF file or tiff file using CS5. I wonder which approach is more efficient or convenient?Â

View 3 Replies View RelatedI can't create MPEG-4 HD 1920x1080 25fps files from my edited video's. Even creating a template with 1920x1080 and 25fps seems impossible. I only get a 30fps (default?) setting.
View 2 Replies View RelatedGot a weird thing happening in CS6 and wondered if any of you have ran into it. I've imported an .obj file and I was able to move, scale and edit as desired.
Then I closed the doce and reopend at a later time to find that not only did the position and scale of the mesh totally change, but I was also no longer able to move, scale or edit it in any way! every time I'd use the 3d tools to move it around or scale it
I recently upgraded my RAM and since that day I am having problems with Photoshop I am not sure how that could be related. The Photoshop crashes,
When I insert an image and try to Transform or Move it When I try to initialize the Text Tool When I try to Transform a item After a certain amount of time, automatically.
Using Windows 7 OS.
i just downloaded CS6 and after editing every photos, and pressing save as nothing showing up?
View 32 Replies View RelatedWe are using Photoshop CS3 on our G5 Mac running Leopard. When we open any JPG or EPS file and attempt to edit the meta data it crashes Photoshop completely (before we can even attempt to save the file). It does not matter which meta data field we are editing it happens to all of them. Not sure what has changed on the system as we have not done any updates recently. Thought it might be a corrupt preference file but not sure which one to delete?

I am having problems uploading my pictures into a sight called

and the pictures keeping the right color quality. I have been using Photoshop CS5 extended for about a year now, I never had a problem with colors before but now when trying to upload into

and they are looking very saturated instead of bright and bold colors like should. I don't know what is wrong if it's Photoshop or snap fish. I have been trying to contact snapfish and figure the problem out with them as well. I can take my images from one computer to another and they are still bright and bold until I try to upload them into

Im using photoshop CS3 on Vista, now Im trying to remove the background from a picture using the filter, extract method, I did that correctly and can now move the picture around over the gray and white tranparency backdrop. My problem is trying to save the picture without a background. Every time i save it as a JPEG the white background returns,
Im trying to upload the picture to a webpage without a background, so it matches the webpage's background, and doesnt have the white background it originally had.
I have a jpeg photo taken with a digital camera. The problem is that it appears different depending on what software I view it with. When I view it in Windows explorer / Windows picture and fax viewer, the colours appear very bright. When I view the same image in other software such as ms paint or firefox, the colours appear much duller. Originally I thought this photo was the original from the camera but after looking at the Exif data it showed that the image had been edited in Adobe Photoshop. I don't know how the image was edited in photoshop. A raw image directly from the camera does not have the same problem - it looks the same in windows viewer and other software. What could have happened to this jpeg in photoshop that would cause the colours to look brighter in windows viewer but not other software? Sure a jpeg is a jpeg and should look the same in all viewers?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI am having a problem saving photos after editing them in Photoshop. I had a similar problem in a previous photo-editor, so I realize this may not be Photoshop-specific but am hoping someone might have an answer.
I open a photo normally in Ps, edit it, and save it as a jpeg. Then if I go to reopen the file in Ps it tells me that it can't because it is the wrong file type.
In the file properties it shows the file type simply as 'file', and Vista displays it as a blank page icon. I am able to open the image in the default Windows image viewer.
The oddest part is that this seems to happen only to some photos, with others working problem-free I am completely at a loss on this one.
I have Photoshop CS5 installed on my windows7 system. It was working all fine until last week. From last week, I am unable to save the photos that I edit in photoshop. Its like, I save them, but I do not find them anywhere, not in the folder I saved them nor anywhere else in the computer. I also tried saving the pics as a copy still no luck. This is a work environment.
View 2 Replies View RelatedHow should I save edited photos for clients? Save as or Save for web and other devices? When I "save as" the client can't upload their photos into i Photo. When I "save for web and other devices" my resolution drops from 300 to 72? I am using JPG.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI just got CS6 and have been working on some new images in RAW. Once I finished the editing I wanted to do in RAW, I saved the image as a JPEG, then clicked "open image" at the bottom of the RAW window.Â
The image that came up in Photoshop looked nothing like my edited RAW image. It's as if none of the edits ever occurred.Â
I just don't know how to save a picture I made to my SD card . I have latest version of Photoshop Touch, tablet Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 Jelly Bean.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI was given a pdf by a customer. It's not quite laied out well for print so I need to move around some items. Unfortunitly not all the items are moveable in Arobat X pro. So I figured I would make the edits in PS5. Everything works well except the color after I have edited the page in PS is darker and muddier. I have no access to the orignal raw file so I have to edit the PDF. Is there a way to make sure the edited pdf matches the original? I tried opening the selected page of the pdf in both RGB and CMYK mode. I am using acrobat x pro and Photoshop Cs5 on mac oc 10.6.8.
