Photoshop :: Unable To Save Edited Image In CS5?

Aug 14, 2013

I have Photoshop CS5 installed on my windows7 system. It was working all fine until last week. From last week, I am unable to save the photos that I edit in photoshop. Its like, I save them, but I do not find them anywhere, not in the folder I saved them nor anywhere else in the computer. I also tried saving the pics as a copy still no luck. This is a work environment.

Photoshop :: Image Edited In ProPhoto RGB - Way To Save Color

Jun 3, 2012

Well, it looks like I edited an image in ProPhoto RGB and now when I save as JPEG I get a color change (always looks warmer, like a change in white balance.)

When I convert to another profile, the color change.  Is there anyway to either convert and get my colors back or as to JPEG with the color's I'm getting in photoshop?  What is odd is I'll see a nice white background in PS and even in the thumbnail.  But if I open it in anything but PS I get color change.

GIMP :: 2.8 - Unable To Save / Export Image

Aug 7, 2013

I cannot save or export an image from GIMP 2.8 at all. No matter where the mouse pointer is on the save/export window only a caret is displayed and not a cursor. The exception to this is when I hover over the vertical slider in the directory pane and I am able to move the slider on left click and drag. When I was using 2.8.2 (see below) and attempted this operation the cursor changed to an icon resembling a text document. The icon does not appear in 2.8.6

The problem has only occurred in the last 10 days. It first happened to me about a week ago. At that time I was using GIMP 2.8.2. Today I uninstalled this version and installed 2.8.6 with no improvement. I also tried deleting the .GIMP2.8 directory (as recommended elsewhere in this forum) with both versions but to no avail. As implied I have used GIMP (for more than 18 months) without a problem until the last week and a bit.

I am using Windows 7 Professional 64bit.

Lightroom :: How To Set Default Save Format For Photoshop Edited Photos

Oct 14, 2013

I just spotted that some of my photos that I've edited in Photoshop from Lightroom are a whopping 450MB. Looking deeper I found that they are saved as uncompressed TIFF files, this despite the default save format for Photoshop in Lightroom's preferences being set to ZIP compressed TIFF files. So why doesn't this setting work and how can I make Photoshop save things compressed?

Photoshop :: Retaining Quality Of Edited Image

Mar 19, 2009

I have a JPG image that I want to edit with photoshop 7. I know that if I edit directly the JPG image and save again as new JPG image, the quality of the new saved image will be degraded. Experienced user know that because JPG is a lossy format.

I want to retain the quality of the edited image. Then I heard that the TIFF format is a lossless format that support compression.

I usually done this:

A. Let's say I have a JPG image that I want to edit, then I open the image and directly save it as a new TIFF image (with LZW compression).

B. Then I will do editing to the TIFF image.

C. After the editing TIFF image done, I will save it as a new copy of JPG image.

Note: Step C is only performed if I want to publish the image.

The questions:

1. Is the step A a correct step from the view of experienced user? I mean is this a step that I should do if I want to retain the quality of the want-to-edit image.

2. Does the LZW compression in TIFF give a quality loss in the image?

3. If I save a JPG image in TIFF format (with LZW compression), is there any quality loss (i.e., artifacts) in the saved TIFF image?

The next question is about saving the image as JPG in maximum quality for publishing.

Usually I choose these settings in the JPEG options:

* I choose "12" for the quality (the highest number).

* I choose "Baseline optimized" in the Format Options (There are 3 options available: Baseline ("Standard"), Baseline Optimized, and Progressive).

The questions:

- In save as dialog, there is "ICC Profile" checkbox. What is it used for? Does it affect the quality of the image? Should I check this option if I want to gain maximum quality image?

- Am I choose the correct option in the Format Options if I want to gain maximum quality image? What's difference of the three Format Options? What should I choose if I want to gain maximum quality of the JPG image?

- Is there any other factor that I must consider if I want to gain the maximum quality of the JPG image?
