Photoshop :: CS6 Version 13.1.2 X64 - 3D Mysteriously Grayed Out
Aug 4, 2013
I've been using Photoshop CS 6 extended, version 13.1.2 x64, for several months. I've never had a problem using the 3D features (except I suck at it), but now my entire 3D menu has mysteriously been grayed out. I can't perform any 3D tasks. My video card, drivers, RAM,etc... all appear to be working fine. In fact, everything else in Photoshop appears to work fine.
I'm doing a series of illustrations for a client. I scanned in the black and white inked drawings and then colored them in Photoshop 7 as TIFFs. I worked in CMYK mode the whole time.
when I look at a thumbnail of the saved TIFFs or open them in any other application (windows picture & fax viewer, paint, etc.) I get these dark and murky colors. I get these same murky colors printing from these applications. However, if I open the TIFF image in Photoshop the colors go back to the way they should be. They also print correctly from Photoshop. If I save the image as a JPEG, the colors save correctly.
My client just printed off the first round of proofs (from a laser printer, I assume) and the colors are dark and murky. The problem is that they want the images sent as TIFFs and I don't know what the four color offset printer is going to do.
I have been working on a painting for a few days, and after I was done with the underpainting, I saved the file as another one with a different name, and continued work on that file.
I had finished it, saved, and left photoshop open for a few hours. Later today I came back to it to make some final adjustments and while I was drawing, it suddenly and apparently for no reason reverted to the state it was when I first saved it (that is, like the original file).
I know there's probably no way to recover the file how it was before this thing happened, but what might have happenedSomething weird though, is that I opened the original file, the first one, and it had bits of the work that was supposed to be saved on the newer file.
I have this XREF that is the topo for many drawings. I don't remember the original size, maybe around 6 MB, and now it is 9.9 MB and nothing has been added to it. It bogs down all of the drawings it is Ref'd into. Drawings with it take around 5 mins to open, save, and close.
I ran drawing clean up, no ref's attached to it, purged everything, zeroed out the Z values for everything in the drawing. There are about 51,000 +/- objects in the drawing. I have also tried copying and pasting everything into a new drawing, but crashed CAD.
I've used the blend tool to make a series of lines between two other lines; I need to expand everything so that the whole thing becomes a fill-only object (no strokes):
- I expand it (Object > Expand; Object box checked, Fill box checked, Stroke box checked) and the object becomes strokes-only (no fill at all)
- I expand it again (Object > Expand; Object box greyed out, Fill box checked, Stroke box checked) and the object becomes fill-only (yay!) except the shape of the lines has changed (boo!). Unchecking the stroke box and leaving only the Fill box checked seems to have no effect, the object remains stroke-only).
Just opened a Premiere project and went to edit a title. Although the title still shows up as a purple clip, and is still in the same location in the project explorer, it is no longer able to be edited, but instead plays like an AVI file. Also, it seems the underlying video and title have been merged into one clip on the timeline instead of two overlapping clips.
Screenshot below: See in the project explorer where the title files have been converted, plus in the timeline how all videos are compressed on Track 1 as a newly created avi.
I installed the retina display-optimized update to my purchased (non-Creative Cloud) version of Photoshop Design Standard (via the Adobe Updater app that pops up in my menu bar only when updates are available), but now when Photoshop launches, I get Photoshop Extended (and it's a trial version). Is this a known issue? Will I need to reinstall Photoshop?
I updated CS4 (student version) to CS5.5 commercial version. The brushes, patterns, shapes and styles I had installed in the CS4 Photoshop version were not loaded into the new version. I no longer have the original files of these assets (or customizations).
After the installation of Photoshop Elements 11 and Premiere Elements 11 on my new system, the catalogs of version 10 do not appear for the conversion to version 11; my 2 catalogs are installed on a LACIE-2BIG NAS system.

I downloaded and paid for the upgrade version of CorelDraw X6 because I have X3,X4 and X5. I have installed it already but I went to reinstall on my desktop PC as I wiped my hard drive back to factory state, CorelDRAW no longer gives the upgrade option.
On start up it gives the following message ( see below ) as a 30 day trial.
I have recently upgraded to ver 2012 from ver 2000. I have numerous macros that were written for the older version that I need to utilize in ver 2012. I manually recreated them in the new version by typing in the commands from ver 2000. As I expected I am getting errors when I try to run these macros in Ver 2012. The mlayer command, for example, does not work. I am pretty sure I need to use the -layer command and have tried this but I still get errors. While I am relatively proficient in ver 2000 I am having some trouble finding commands in ver 2012 that match the old version. Below is an example of a macro from ver 2000 as well as my attempt to rewrite it in ver 2012.
is there anyway of opening old files from previous edition of autocad on the newer version, have a file from a few years ago and it wont open now on the new one?
I have the 2013 AutoCAD Student Version and I want to transfer my file to the AutoCAD 30-Day Proffessional version, Can I do this by easily Copying and Pasting the drawing from version to version?
Yesterday, I mistakenly opened up the version 3 icon and put in several hours worth of image work, metadata changes, and created a couple of collections.
1. What will be the easiest way for me to update the changes to my version 4 catalog without undoing work that I have done in that from the last couple of weeks?
I cannot save my previous files created on a student version to an upgraded 2014 version. I tried changing the save as path in the options menu, but no luck. I am able to open the file in the upgraded version but it states that it will open as a student version. Also I cannot copy and paste anything from the student version to the upgraded one. Not sure why.
I am experiencing a problem with the 3D tools on CS6 Extended. I have checked and my vRAM is 512mb which seemed to be the biggest source of this problem for other people, but my 3D tools are still greyed out. I have converted the working file from CYMK to RGB and the 3D tools have become available.
I have Photoshop CS6 13.0.1 x64 Extended and all options under the 3D manu are grayed out. My graphic adapter is nVidia GeForce GTX 650 (it has 1024 MB memory). I have Windows 7 x64 and 8GB RAM.
In Performance settings I have checked to use the graphic processor and in Advanced settings the drawing mode either Basic, Normal or Advanced, it doesn't make a difference.
I just tried to create a 3D postcard and got this message: why the 3D doesn't work and what can be done about it?Here is a fragment of System Info regarding the display driver. The line with OpenCL Version is empty, although I have checked "Use OpenCL", could this be a problem?
Memory available to Photoshop: 6314 MB Memory used by Photoshop: 32 % Image tile size: 128K Image cache levels: 4 OpenGL Drawing: Enabled. OpenGL Drawing Mode: Advanced OpenGL Allow Normal Mode: True. OpenGL Allow Advanced Mode: True.
In my Camera Raw 6.7, when using the Tone Curve, the RGB channels are grayed out and can not be switched on, probably because the Raw Defaults are missing.
When I copy a selection from one image in CS6 I am unable to paste it into a second image (same file format, TIF). The Paste command is grayed out. In CS4 I never had this issue. Running it in OS X Snow Leopard.
At first my 3D menu wasn't showing up, but after reinstalling, I was able to get it. Though, the problem now is that the 3D menu itself is greyed out. I have an up to date graphics card, more than sufficient VRAM, and an overall powerful machine; I'm sure it can run 3D.

I do have some issues with the inverse selection. Once I finished using "Pen Tool" and all dots have been connected I go to Select-Inverse to select the image but unfortunately the"Inverse" is grayed out. I remebere having this issue few years ago . I did called the Adobe Tech Support and have been navigated to the program folder to replace some of the files that have been corrupted. After that everything was working fine.
