Photoshop :: CS5 - How To Keep All Layers Of A File

May 14, 2013

I am using CS5 photoshop.

My friend is using the creative cloud.

We are collaborating on a project.

These are simple graphics screen for Ipad home menus.

He has sent me some files that I need to edit slightly, but every time there is a problem.

I get the following error message.

If I choose flatten, then I can't edit or modify the project.

If I choose keep layers, essential information is missing. Certain graphic elements are gone.

Is it the downloading that is the problem? Will this problem still happen if we do a flash drive transfer? Can this work with me being on CS5 photoshop? How can I get the complete files?

Illustrator :: Layered Vector AI File With Raster (Photoshop) Layers Included As Vector Layers?

Apr 20, 2013

I've been using Illustrator since the late 80's but this request just now came up for the first time, twice in one day: the clients each want me to send them layered files (OK-no problem) wherein all the layers, even the raster layers, register as vector layers. Or at least all the layers, regardless of file-type (vector or raster) are contained within an unflattened Illustrator file. One of the clients specifically asked that the Type layer (No problem-all the type is on one layer) be  "vector mapped", whatever that means, while all the other layers can be Photoshop layers, if necessary.  So how do I hand them an open, unflattened Illustrator file containing both vector art and raster art? Can it be done in Acrobat, as a PDF? I'm working in AI and PS CS5, but I can and will upgrade if I have to.

Photoshop :: Copying Two Layers Into Another PSD File

Apr 3, 2009

I have created a file with about 35 layers. The top layer is needed to make the lower layers look right. My plan was to copy the first two layers into the new file, turn off the second layer, turn on the third layer, and then copy it, along with the top layer still turned on, into the same new file. I want to repeat this process until all layers have been copied. I just cannot seem to find out how to do this without a tremendous amount of extra work. So I know how to do it the looong way, but surely there is a way I can copy two layers, in their arranged order, as one new layer into a new file?

I know I could flatten the image and copy it, but I'd like to retain the layers.

Photoshop :: CS6 - Editing File With Many Text Layers

Aug 29, 2012

I've got a serious issue since the begining of my Photoshop CS6 installation. It's not happening to all my files but few are enough !

I explain myself : When I open a file with many text layers and when I try to edit one of them the text is instantly remplaced by another random text present in this same file. Then the file seems to be corrupted because when I open it with CS5 it does the same thing.

I can't re-edit those files and I must rewrite all those text layers, this is not possible to handle that in a professional way.I tried to launch the script for texts crashes but nothing works.

For example i am creating a layered Photoshop file that contains a bunch of photos and i want each of the layers to be named the same as the separate photo files i am copying them from - make sense?

Anyway, just wondering if this can be done without having to manually type or paste in the file name.

Photoshop :: Export Layers To File (With Same Background)

May 30, 2006

I have found the "Export Layers To Files" in File-->Scripts which is pretty slick. I have a PSD file with about 60 layers, so this is handy.

The trick though, is that when they get exported out to a file I want them all to have the same background.

I have a layer that I want to be the background for all the images, right now it's "Layer 1". Is it easy to modify the export all layers script to use Layer 1 on the image copy before saving it? It looks like the script takes each layer, creates a new file, copies the layer (which is transparent) and then saves as a JPG. I just want one extra step in there that will copy the Layer 1 layer for each image too.

Zipping the layers manually is very tedious, but gets the size down to about the same or slightly less than a psd. It seems to me that selecting zip for compression should zip everything by default. Photoshop :: Automate Multiple Images Into Seperate Layers In 1 File?

She gives me hundreds of animation cells to scan using her scanner into photoshop CS(nothing), using the scan utility in photoshop. the result, as we are doing it, is hundreds of separate image files. i then copy and paste each of these image files into another custom sized file as separate layers.

i know there must be a way to automate this or do it with an action, but i cannot figure it out. if you think this isn't possible with photoshop CS(nothing) i have CS3 available to me on my personal laptop.

Lightroom :: How To Edit File In Photoshop With Multiple Layers (TIFF Or PSD)

Apr 21, 2013

I have a scenario that I can't seem to get working the way I want.

Scenario: I edit a file in photoshop with multiple layers (.tiff or .psd). I then add that file to my lightroom catalog and would like to have it automatically updated in lightroom when making changes in photoshop. I know this is possible when using the "Edit in Photoshop" option but I can't seem to get it working when I had the file in photoshop first.

If I import the file into lightroom and then make changes in photoshop the changes are not applied in lightroom. If, in lightroom, I choose "edit in photoshop" then I get a flat image generated from the lightroom file that does not have all my previously created photoshop layers.

Photoshop :: Copying Two Layers Through Same Selection Mask Produces Different Dimensions On New File

Oct 29, 2013

I'm creating an animation in AE eventually but initially have two hand drawn images of the same object that I've scanned into PS.

I have a single mask created that I turn into a selection to copy the two images to output as new single files to then import as 2 frame png sequence into AE.

Normally, and this is critical, the dimension of the new files would/should be exactly the same. But they're not! How is this possible, the selection is the same for both layers.
