Photoshop :: Copying Two Layers Through Same Selection Mask Produces Different Dimensions On New File

I'm creating an animation in AE eventually but initially have two hand drawn images of the same object that I've scanned into PS.

I have a single mask created that I turn into a selection to copy the two images to output as new single files to then import as 2 frame png sequence into AE.

Normally, and this is critical, the dimension of the new files would/should be exactly the same. But they're not! How is this possible, the selection is the same for both layers.
I have created a file with about 35 layers. The top layer is needed to make the lower layers look right. My plan was to copy the first two layers into the new file, turn off the second layer, turn on the third layer, and then copy it, along with the top layer still turned on, into the same new file. I want to repeat this process until all layers have been copied. I just cannot seem to find out how to do this without a tremendous amount of extra work. So I know how to do it the looong way, but surely there is a way I can copy two layers, in their arranged order, as one new layer into a new file?
I know that title sounds confusing, but i was wondering if there is anyway to automatically name a layer the same as a separate file. For example i am creating a layered Photoshop file that contains a bunch of photos and i want each of the layers to be named the same as the separate photo files i am copying them from - make sense?
Anyway, just wondering if this can be done without having to manually type or paste in the file name.
Why is it sometimes a clipping mask produces jagged lines? IÂ know if there's a dark background and a light one sitting on top of it, then this happens. is there a solution to clearing this out when applying a mask?? You can see in the screenshot I've circled where you see the jagged lines and in the layers palette you can see the clipping mask object.
When I blend layers using multiply, and lower the opacity of the top layer (such as to compensate for too much flash), photoshop puts all these vertical lines on the image. The only time they are not visible is when opacity is set to 0% or 100% for the top layer.
Having a really annoying issue that I've noticed since the latest CC update. If I have, let's say, a square of 100 x 100 mm in Illustrator and I copy it and switch to Photoshop, create a new document using the clipboard as the preset, it gets the mm dimensions wrong. My understanding is this should be consistent and not effected by things like DPI/PPI and I've ever had the problem before. It's effecting everyone in our studio and we're all running the Mac version of CC.
When I copy a square fromt illustrator to photoshop this happens: Â - illustrator: 6px x 6px - copy - paste as smart object 100% x 100% - photoshop: 19px x 19px
trying to copy a selection and paste it into another layer, but no matter what i do it slightly shifts. I need it to be in exactly the same place as the original, only on another layer.Â
I am trying to save a selection from a photo to open in Dreamweaver. I am able to mask the selection and eliminate the background, but when I open up the image in Dreamweaver I have white where the background was. How do I eliminate everything around my selection to have just the selection appear?
Importing VHS tapes to VideoStudio Pro X2 produces a video file and a .upd file with the same number. As I intend to store these files on my external Seagate HDD would it be permissible to rename them to correspond to each VHS tape? At the moment I've just placed the two files in a folder and named it eg: VHSTape_1, VHSTape_2 etc. Are the .upd files really necessary?
I've noticed a problem with my Photoshop CS5 (12.0.4) / Windows 7 64-bit setup. Maybe once a day, after using Photoshop for a while, the current document's colours will look like they're using the wrong colour space, usually looking more vivid and artificial. The only way out of the situation is to restart Photoshop. Â Example 1: after editing an image in AdobeRGB, I flatten it and run an action to resize, sharpen, and convert to sRGB. Occasionally, the picture ends up looking psychedelic. Â Example 2: after copying a selection in a flattened sRGB image, I create a new sRGB image and paste. Occasionally, the new image is clearly off, still similar hues but changed in tone and saturation; going back to the original window, there is visual corruption. Â I've got an ATI HD5670 graphics card, and have gone through maybe 3 driver revisions while this problem has existed. It's too infrequent a problem to easily replicate, and what I usually do is save and earlier state as a PSD and reload Photoshop.
I try to copy+paste a shape from Illustrator CS5 to Photoshop CS5 (Windows). My goal is to recieve a shape layer I can use in photoshop. But it just copies it as a VectorSmartObject and I can't convert it to a shape layer. I read, that "normaly" or at least in the Mac version a dialog box should appear, which let's you choose how you want to paste it in ( SmartObject/ShapeLayer/...). This doesn't happen. Is thia bug?
I created a file in Illustrator CS6 (v. 16.0.0), and saved it as an (editable) PDF. When I try to reopen that same PDF inside Illustrator CS6, however, I get a "Could Not Open The File" error. The file opens in Acrobat just fine, but I need to continue editing/working on it. Opening it in 5.1 works but it's all flat and not ideal for editing. Renaming the extension to .eps or .ai didn't work, either. I also looked into potential font conflicts (none) and restarted my Mac (OS 10.7.5) to no avail.
I'm taking a web design class, and we are doing a preliminary layout in Photoshop CS5. Last night the prof taught us how to do something he calls "slide copying." It's basically holding down Opt or Alt while clicking on the layer, and then sliding it downward. You then get a new layer and its number. Â Here is what I am trying to do. I have a 1" border around my web page. I am typing in a single letter, and then copying it. How can I make sure that when I drag it into its new position, it will be aligned with the original letter? There are going to be dozens of these going around the border, so I want to get this right from the start. Â Something like "distribute horizontal centers"? Â I know that I can group layers and make any changes there, of course, but I'm wondering about the easiest way to do it in the first place. Â The border will be around all sides.
I have a button that is comprised of two layers. I use this button extensively on my page so I'm trying to copy both layes at once. I make one layer active, then I link the other layer, then I use the Move Tool and press ALT, but only one layer gets copied. Is there an easy way to copy 2 Layer elements at once in Photoshop 6.0?
In PS CS3, is there a simple way to copy the contents of a partially transparent layer from one image and paste them into another image of the same size without PS trying to center the pasted content? If so, how is this accomplished?
Here's the situation. I am trying to make a bunch of blending mode reference images. They consist of a base color layer, a blend color layer, and several different layers for labels. The base and the blend color layers have off center squares of gradiated colors, so you can see how the blend changes based on changes to the base and blend colors.
I've finished grayscale versions for each layer blending mode, now I'm working on a color version. I have created one (Luminosity), and now I want to past the blend color and base color layers from the color Luminosity image into all the grayscale images so that I can reuse the labels in grayscale images.
When I drag the layers from the layer palette of one document to the document window of another document, it places the color squares in the location based upon where I drop them. If I copy from one document to the other, it centers the color squares (they need to be off-center to work with the pre-existing labels). I've not tried replacing the transparency in the blend and base color layers, because... well.. because I shouldn't have to. Dagnabit. But, I suspect that would work.
I'm running Photoshop CS3 Extended v10.0 on Mac OS X v10.4.10 w/2GB RAM.
Do you know of a method to copy layers from an existing psd file to a new psd file? See I'm doing a website design in photoshop but I want to be able copy over the menu bars which will remain on all pages without having to spend time constantly recreating the thing on each page?
I have an issue with the behaviour of the alpha channels and layers.I have upgraded to the latest version.I have tried resetting the preferences per Julianne Cost's Key Board Short Cut (KBSC) method. None of the preferences were reset.I still have all my saved workspaces available etc etc.  After making a selection in the channels pallet and saving using the "Save selection as channel" button I have what appears to be a bug when trying to import the selection into the layers panel.  I make the selection. Save it as a channel. Make the selection active.Then switch over to the layers pallet. I then try to copy the selection across using the KBSC 'Cmd J'.On the first attempt I only get an exact copy of the layer (in a single layer document).  However, when I use the same KBSC a second time (immediately after the first attempt - no changes) the third layer created has my selection as masked.So after the process in a single layer document my layers stack up as follows (I have layed them out as if in the layers pallet).  -Layer 1 (with just my selection) -Background Copy (an exact copy) -Background (with lock icon).
I want to process a series of pics for my photography business and I think I have a way to do a great deal of them with minimum effort. What I want to do is to work on one photo and create a smaller project that I copy and paste my Adjustment layers in. Then, I want an action to go through my queue of pics and copy the layers over, create a blurred layer (for skin touch up) and a sharpened layer. That way, when it's done, all I have to do is open each saved PSD and do touch up as needed.
The problem is that I can't get an action to recognize that I'm dragging a layer over from one comp to another. Is there a way, instead of creating a brand new action for each set of pics, to do what I want to do?
I created a layer mask. I want to make new layer via cut. Then, I want to go back to the layer, inverse the mask & create another layer. Basically, I'm creating the same picture, but making layers. Unfortunately, the marching ants line (from the selection) remains. So, I have a hair thin line of transparency. I have tried feathering, borders, expand selection, making the selection smaller.
When creating a selection in CS4 and then adding the selection as a mask I cannot seem to get around a black background surrounding the selected portion of the image by default.
In CS2 the background surrounding the selection/mask displays as a pattern of small gray and white squares, which I usually prefer for initial review of a selection as a mask. Yes, I can go the mask panel in CS4 and switch background views but none utilize the gray/white pattern as used by default in CS2.
Can this behavior be changed? I've tried manipulating preferences to no avail and cannot seem to locate any options to change the default display options.
When I make a selection on a photo with quick mask in photoshop CS3 and shift > Ctrl > I and delete the background, my image that i'm left with is like 50% opaque. I don't know why its doing this. I've even tried Ctrl > J and then deleting the background and its still opaque. So I am needing some help here because i need to figure out why the images i'm selecting with QM aren't coming out at 100% opacity. Thanks. I'm new to the CS6 interface. In the past this was my process to make add a gradient overlay adjustment to a portion of a layer:  1. Make a selection on a layer 2. Go to the Layers Panel > Select 'fx' menu 3. Choose 'Gradient Overlay' and go from there  Result: a Gradient Overlay adjustment layer with a clipping mask applied to the layer below.  Now in CS6 when I follow this process, it does not automatically create a clipping mask from my selection and make a new adjustment layer with the clipping mask. Instead, it applies the Gradient Overlay to the entire layer. It does this for any option in the 'fx' menu in the Layers Panel. It behaves the same as it did before with any of the options in the Adjustment Layer, however.
I am working on a .psd in Photoshop CC in which I used a selection to precisely remove a portion of a layer in a layer mask. The problem is that it is removing a percentage of the opacity in the non selected area. The brush has 100% Opacity, 100% Flow and is in Normal Mode. The layer has 100% Opacity, 100% Fill, and is in Normal Mode. I have tried restarting Photoshop and starting over from scratch. Here is an image of the issue.
My only other concern is that on Friday we had a power outage due to lightning and PS CC closed unexpectedly. Could my PS CC be corrupted? My computer has restarted since then.
My question is this (its pretty easy so I hope its just a stupid oversight on my part) but anyway...
I just got into messing around with photoshop lately and in a tutorial in a magazine I read for a certain step I read the following:
1) "We need an accurate selection of the figure, so go to the Channels palette and click on the Red channel. Choose the Brush Tool and select a hard round brush from the Brush Preset Picker . Hit Q to enter Quick Mask Mode and paint over the figure...after completing the Quick Mask, hit Q again to exit Quick Mask and save this selection via Select>Save Selection naming it Outline. Click on the RGB channel, before returning to the Layers palette."
Now that was simple enough to understand and the first time I went about it it worked fine...as soon as I clicked "Q" again to leave quick mask mode the portion i just colored in in quick mask was selected by a dotted line...
My problem is that now it doesn't do that anymore. No matter what .jpg file I use...after i leave quick mask mode there is no selected outline and no option to "save selected"...the only thing that is selected is the entire square outline of the canvas...IT COMPLETELY IGNORES WHAT I COLORED IN QUICK MASK
I open a JPG and enter quick mask. I use the gradient tool with a radial gradient and make a small gradiated area. It appears in red fading out to the edges. So far so good.
I USE to be able to exit quick mask, and that gradient would now be a selection. What is happening now though is when I exit quick mask, the area selected is the entire image and not the gradiated area.
