I just bought a new computer. I've seen some mention about incompatability issues. The last thing I want to do is start deleting everything on my new machine. It has Premire elements 10 on it. I read something about a caps database. I have renamed it but still get the same corrupt DB error. What can I do to install my CS4 and not delete other files on my new machine?

 I learned from Adobe that I could use the WinCS3clean script, which I downloaded and ran on my computer, using level 1.After this I tried installing the extended version of CS3 but got the message "Installation database corrupt" and I can't install CS3. Can anyone help me with this and let me know how to solve the problem? I use windows, XP 2.
I have been using Illustrator CS3 for several years under WinXP, and have now upgraded the OS to WIN7. I am failing to install, whatever I do it comes back with the following error message:
`The installer database is corrupt, if this continues .....'
I had onscreen chats with Adobe's Vallen and (maybe) Sumar, who just sent me back to the Support page and forum page. Digging there I eventually found [URL] ....... and followed the instructions, including deleting the caps folder because neither of the database files were in it.
There is a suggestion that I would get somewhere if I was disconnected from the internet. I am wondering also if removal of Photoshop Elements 10 would get rid of a conflict (I have already stripped out most other Adobe programs). I am pretty sure that before loading WIn7 I had been forced to uninstall CS3 for reasons of space, so I don't think ther should be an issue of serial nos.

PS6 was working fine before I noticed it, it no longer open whenever I trigger the .exe. It just won't run.

I have tried to install my CS4 on the new machine and have the following problem. Disk 1 loads fine and goes to the end and asks for Disk 2. I insert Disk 2 and it won't continue the install. I have opened the disk and all files are in good shape.

So why this happened(value changed)? And if I want to make the color of two buttons EXACTLY the same, is there any way I can do it in PS?
I just updated my PS to 13.1 and after i restarted my system and continued to work with PS, it freezes plenty of times.
At first it was at random but then i could reproduce the error. When i try to scroll to the end of the styles list, PS will display the styles list not properly (see image below). When this happens i can't press anything else. I have to kill PS via the Task Manager.Never had a problem with PS before neither did i update something else in the meantime.

Windows 7 64Bit (Service Pack1)
I did a system restore now because i have to finish my work. PS 13.0.1 works fine, no issues. But not to update can't be the final solution...
PhotoShop CS6 on Win7 starts only in administrator mode. Also InDesign CS6. I can't work with task list or direct job contact.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have been haveing severe catalog issues for the last week after installing Windows 7.
I decided to insert my original HDD in my laptop, along with the new HDD and Windows 7. I then deleted the MY Pictures folder from the new HDD and copied the My Pictures folder from my old HDD to the new.
Since I felt my newly restored catalog file was corrupted, I wanted to copy the catalog file from my old HDD to the new one. I renamed the folder on my old drive by appending 'old' to the end of it, doing the same to the catalog .db file within the folder, then dragged the folder to the Program Data/Adobe/Elements Data/Catalogs folder.
I fired up PSE9 holding the Shift key to select the catalog that I was using on my old drive. It would not let me select the folder or find the catalog file in the folder. I tried creating a new catalog file, but the message "Catalog file with same name already exists in that folder".
I then just tried to point to the catalog file on my old drive, (btw, using 'custom' option in the catalog management window), and it still would not let me open the file. I say it won't let me open the catalog because, when I navigate to the folder with the catalog name, even single and double clicking on it, I don't get the 'Open' button on the Catalog Management window highlighted.
Is there something I am missing about catalog files? Do the have to be registered somehow within Elements before I can use them.
I've combed through the forums and tried every fix that I've read, however nothing has worked. I've just been given a new work laptop with a clean install of Windows 7 64-bit Enterprise Edition running SP1. Full administrator privledges.I am attempting to install Adobe Photoshop CS3 straight from the DVD, so no updates, patches, etc.
After running either the autorun or directly setup.exe within the Adobe CS3 folder, the Initializing Adobe Photoshop CS3 bar makes it between 80-90% before jumping to the Loading Setup screen where I'm presented with the error, "Critical errors were found in setup.
OK, the support pages have had me look for "FATAL" (case sensitive) within the setup log. It appears on the very last line of the 80 mb text file. Here's the surrounding elements:

Properties Panel would go correct value, after I select a another layer and select adjustment layer again. I checked all of adjustment layers, and I found that most of them has the same behavior. (Between Brightness/Contrast... and Selective Color...)

Most the the Creative Suite misbehaves with respect to the Windows 7 taskbar. One behavior that's particularly unproductive is seeing a bunch of gray icons for open application windows, and having the associated full size peek image grayed out too. I frequently work with many open image windows that I prefer to keep undocked. If they're minimized, more often than not there's a gray taskbar preview.
Once I click on the thumbnail and activate a window, the thumbnail taskbar image updates. But when I switch between applications, the updated thumbnails will usually go blank next time I peek at the PS6 taskbar.
I cannot record into a HP laptop with win7. VX3using. I can do it with another one using Vista. What could the problem be? Using Canon HV 20. What sould the setting be? It plays and I can control the camera with VX3. But after I test for 30 seconds it says "cannot save file corrupt" or somethong to that effect.

It tells me it's extracting the .msi file and the progress bar gets about 90% of the way full, but then the installer just exits with no error message. I have tried directly launching setup64.exe and running it as an administrator, no good. I have plenty of free disk space - but even if it were a full disk, I'd at least expect to get some kind of error message.
Not sure if it's a bad installer or just something messed up on my system.
i'm using lightroom 4.1 x64 under control of windows 7 64 bit. all my videos (.mov) imported to lightroom have no sound when playing them in ligfhtroom 4.1. outside lightroom these videos do have sound very well. what can be done to enable lightroom 4.1 to play theses videos with proper sound?
View 9 Replies View RelatedI had LR3.6, never tried to tether. I upgraded and now have LR4.4. I tried tethering my 50D and my 7D, LR wont recognize either camera at all. EOS Utility works fine. Same cameras, same cables work on a fresh LR 4.4 install on my wife's laptop perfectly (never had EOS utilites or LR installed previously).
Both PCs, running win7 64-bit.
I uninstalled LR3 and EOS utilities off the problem PC then restarted, but still no go. Windows recognizes both cameras on any USB port with any cable, so I have eliminated those variables. I am at a loss at this point, other than re-installing LR4. Hoping I dont have to do that and rework several thousand images...

Currently, I do not have access to this Apple computer. I am trying to play a movie generated by Video Studio on my Win 7 PC using my Windows QuickTime Player 7.7.1.
May I ask, is this the way I can test if I can successfully generate a movie suitable for an Apple computer using my Win7 PC?

I recently installed Win7. I then downloaded the trial version of X5 from Corel's site and tried to install it. The splash screen I get has no caption on the "install" and "cancel" buttons. When I press the "install" button I get nothing, it goes nowhere. When I press the "cancel" button it cancels, moves to a cance screen from where I can only exit by clicking the top right close icon.

I've downloaded thumbnail handler from Bot Productions, but when I try to install it, Win7 tells me " this installation package is for Windows XP or newer, x64 edition. Go to the product's web site and look for a version for your operating system."
Same thing happens if I try the 32 bit version .

To try and resolve this I have disabled Win7 Indexing, turned off the preview pane and have tried ending the explorer process then restarting it (sometimes works). I don't know what else to try.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm running LR 3.6 on Win7. I have a dual monitor setup with a Samsung 2443 and a Dell E6400 laptop screen.
My problem is that the color profile used by the monitor is way too mangenta on the Samsung monitor. Every image is tinted very mangenta when shown on the Samsung. If I drag the image over to the laptop screen, the color balance are normal. If I drag the entire LR window over to the laptop screen, the color balance of the images changes when the window is released.
How can I change this? (I have no access to a screen calibrator at the moment.) I think its the ICC profile for the Samsung which is wrong, as the same happens if I open images in other picture viewers. Except windows GUI itself has nice, white, crisp colors. If using the monitors on say Mac, they are also fine.
