Can anyone recommend any good reading material for CS4? I'm not too keen on Scott Kelby (bit too cookbook like although he's a friendly type of guy :-)), nor Martin English (bit too much in depth for me personally).
View 24 Repliesperformance of my pc in Photoshop CS4 (nor in Lightroom 2.4 or Photoshop Elements 7) and I suspect that the weakest point is the graphics card. So I ask for advise to get a high performance graphics card. In addition to pictures I do (or wish to to) full HD video with my Canon 5D MkII. My current setup is (2 years old): Asus P5K motherboard with P35 chipset, Q6600 CPU, 2 Samsung SP T166 500GB harddrives and 2 Samsyng SP F1 750GB harddrives both sets in RAID 0 (striped) and the sets have plenty of free space, 8 GB DDR2 RAM, Asus EN8600GT graphics card with 256MB RAM and a Dell 3007WFP display running 2560 x 1600 resolution. When I open more than 4 pictures in Photoshop I get the message: "With the current settings, up to 4 OpenGL documents can be shown at a time. ... This limit depends on the screen resolution, and the RAM available from the graphics card. ..."When I work in Photoshop there are always plenty available RAM and the CPU are not usually on heavy load, and the disk activity is usually low. Therefore I belive that the bottleneck in my system is the graphics card. I just finished building my first "serious" (i.e., with lots of clips, titles, sound track, etc.) video for YouTube. It runs about 7 minutes.
I used Video Studio 8 to develop the project. I tried rendering it in the .avi format with no compression, and ended up with something that runs slowly and has the audio badly out of synch. The file size, of course, is huge.
What format and settings are recommended for a project that is going to be put on YouTube? (I would like to use 640 x 480 if possible. That's the size used to build the project).
when you load up photoshop, there is a window that shows what it is loading. and everytime i load up Photoshop, it stops responding when it gets to "Reading Fonts..."
i don't know what to do. I've deleted/reinstalled it and it didn't fix.
I have windows 8 x64I uninstalled and re-installed from my Web Premium DVD's This started happening recently and was working fine for quite a while To fix it i tried:
ctrl+alt+shift to reste prefrences - still crashes, uninstalled and re-installed (just photoshop x64 & acrobat 9). Searching the forums but a lot of the links appear to be dead.
How do I read Canon 5D mk III images in PS CS4? I know the new ACR 7.6 upgrade doesn't apply to 4 so what's the work around?

I have CS3 10.0.1, Vista Ultimate and 3Gb of ram. Until a week ago, CS3 was running fine - quick start up, quick file opening, quick filters. However, for reasons I can't fathom, it has started to take around 30 seconds on "Reading Preferences" during start up, and around 40 seconds to open a 22.8Mb file (with a "Progress/Reading Photoshop Format..." dialogue and progress box).
I have no network printer and have deleted and reset my "Preferences". Made no difference.
I have not installed any soft- or hard-ware which I can imagine conflicting with CS3 in some way.
how to get back my normal CS3 performance.
I just purchased and installed PS Elements 11 and it seems to be unable to read the .CR2 raw files from my Canon 6D although according to the website this camera is supported.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have an early 2008 Macbook Pro running Snow Leopard. It's been awhile since I've tried installing Photoshop Elements 6, but I am trying currently. Disc is good, no scratches, used for install plenty of times in the past. Every time I insert it into the laptop, it takes the disc and thinks on it, like it's going to load. But then just ends up spitting the cd back out.Â
View 5 Replies View RelatedI use the histogram feature in PS to figure out how many square feet of yarn I will use in a rug that I am making (I work as a rug designer). I am running into a problem with this which is scary because my numbers have to be accurate.

As an example, I may have a 9x12 (inch--this is later blown up to feet using a transparency) drawing. In the drawing there may be 45 organic looking shapes that will be green. I use the magic wand tool and choose all of these green shapes. What I am noticing is that once I get to a certain number (not always consistent) in the histogram reading it will all of a sudden change to a different number and go to (for example) Cache 3. Because of this I have no idea if my histogram reading is accurate.

Is this some sort of memory issue? How do I prevent this from happening so that I can get an accurate heading?
because the specified color book cannot be found? The file is opening without any colors and as i am trying to set the file up to print, it is VITAL that i have colors.

View 8 Replies View RelatedI am trying to read JPEG files generated by Panorama Tools software into PS 7. Some are read with no problems and some files can not be opened by PS 7. In the later case the following error message is displayed: "Could not open file because of a problem parsing the JPEG data".
The problematic files are read and displayed with no problem by Windows pictures and fax viewer software.
I've been using the photoshop for a little bit, everything was fine, then like many others i've got it hanging on the "reading global text resources" line. However, i've found the explainations on the adobe site, and several other forums. However, i CANNOT find the file that its telling me to look for. Im currently running a Vista 64bit.
They've said to find it in application settings, however i think on my computer it is program settings, which i found but there is no folder for Photoshop Just Acrobat and Updater.
when I fire up PS the opening splash window only took about 15 - 20 seconds to cycle through and PS opens up. Since then it takes a very long time to open. The "Reading Preferences" takes nearly a minute or so then all the other race through and PS opens. Why would the "Reading Preferences" take no time at all one day then the next take over a minute? I haven't changed anything to my knowledge in the Preferences tabs to cause this.

The start-up screen shows "reading preferences" for 2 - 3 minutes most times. I've re-set and trashed my preferences file with no change. I've also removed all plug-ins, also with no change. Once PS is up, it works normally. Does anyone have any suggestions?

I've rebooted a couple of times, and uninstalled/reinstalled via the CC Control Panel. Even more comical is when I try to retrieve information about my installation I get this error from the Adobe CC site: We're sorry, something seems to be wrong on our end. Please try again later.
I've been running the cloud version of CS6 for a few months, and in the last several weeks, Photoshop has become incredibly slow, and often gets stuck on the "reading preferences" at startup.Â
I went through all the suggested things, (got rid of bad fonts, downloaded brushes as they were INCREDIBLY slow, and reset some settings to enhance speed), but it's barely made a dent. I already contacted Apple support, and they said it's only an issue with the Adobe software. Also, it reallllllly doesn't like to open .ai documents in psd, which is a problem for me as I need to work in both every day.Â
For some reason my Photoshop CS 8.0 that I have had for years started freezing up and I have uninstalled and reinstalled, looked on C drive for prefs (no file found), tried to delete any new fonts that were uploaded recently (unsure how to locate all of them) and still not able to open and view my files/designs that were save as PSD. I downloaded the CS6 for a free 30 day trial to see if it would open, and yes it opened. if I purchase the CS6 will it freeze up as well? I was unsure if I purchased another version of Photoshop if it would be a waste of money and not open.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI subscribe to Digital Photo magazine, from England. They supply a CD with every issue. I attempted to read in a .jpg file directly in the PSE 12 editor. PSE consistently crashes as soon as I start the process. I tried the same process on PSE 10 and 11 with the same result. I then took the CD on my Windows 7 system, which also has the save versions of PSE. On Windows 7 the process works without a hitch.

Workaround. If I import the file from the CD while in PSE 12 organizer, highlight the file and then invoke the editor, it works fine. I do NOT want to use a workaround. This should work AND in no event should the system crash.Â

NOTE: I have submitted the crash reports to both Apple and Adobe without getting any response.
