Photoshop :: Burning Artwork To A DVD - Low Quality?

Mar 16, 2009

My artwork is in 72dpi - 1920 by 1080 for HDTV... Artwork is clear and sharp on my computer. I understand to save to a BMP or TIFF instead of a JPG... but how can I acheive that same great clarity once I transfer that artwork to a DVD (for commercial purposes..)that I also want to send and share that DVD for others to view. Example: When you see a video game cut scene, or the menu screen... (such as in "Conan" for PS3) the cut scenes STATIC SHOTS are watercolor artwork (as mine) and they are brilliant in sharpness and clarity - though when I burned just a few of mine to a dvd... they were not up to good standards as previously explained.

Is it best to save to Blu Ray Disk or... Don't think it's compression yet as I only tested 3 pieces of art on one dvd. What is the best manner possible to put my artwork onto a DVD and get that same game design quality in appearance... and not slightly fuzzed out? The TV I viewed it on is a plasma 50in 1080p or i think.

VideoStudio :: Loosing Quality Burning In V7?

Apr 14, 2011

I know I have an out dated version of VS, but all my videos are shot on a DV camera with 4.3 resolution.When I'm done editing I burn to a DVD using the VS program.

The quality of the DVD in not that good for some reason.I have checked all the properties and they seem to be right.But being a novice maybe the're not.If I save the file as an AVI then import it into another program (in this case Power Producer) to burn,I get a much better quality DVD.

PS. The reason Im sticking with VS 7 is that I can navigate around it fairly easily.Not saying Im confident, but enough to get by.May look into upgrading to a new version in the future with a new HD camera too.But for now VS 7 works fine for me.

VideoStudio :: Pro X4 - Losing Quality When Rendering / Burning?

Apr 2, 2012

I'm working on a video to propose to my girlfriend with next month, and I have all the edits done and the project is complete (including the DVD menu), but every time I render it it loses quality, and then when I burn a disk it loses even more quality. I'm just burning it onto a standard DVD so I know it won't stay fully HD, but it's pixelated in several parts which really is annoying.

Some details:

Original file properties (.mts):
File Format: NTSC HDMV
Video Type: H.264 Video, Upper Field First
Attributes: 24 bits, 1920 x 1080, 16:9
Frame Rate: 29.970 frames/sec
Data Rate: Variable bit rate (Max. 20899 kbps)

I don't know what camera they were shot on, a friend did the shots for me and I didn't think I'd need to know the camera specs.

I've tried rendering using several of the default options in the Share tab (MPEG Optimizer, DVD, MP4). So far, MP4 has worked the best.

When I burn it to a disk, though, it gets really bad. I tried burning straight from the project and burning from the rendered video file. Burning from the rendered file was less pixelated, but still not as clean as I want it to be.

Illustrator :: Recolor Artwork From Black / White To Color Inside Recolor Artwork?

Dec 11, 2012

In Recolor artwork is there a way to change the black and white colors to a color? When I try to edit them it doesn't edit them at all. It would be nice if I didn't have to manually tweak the colors to have color before I go into Recolor Artwork.

Photoshop :: Turning A Low Quality Picture Into High Quality?

Nov 30, 2008

I'm pretty new to photoshop, and I've started on a personal project. I want to basically take a video still from a music video and turn it into a poster. Sadly i can not find a good quality version of the video as it is older and not super famous, (kyuss-one inch man). So i found an online video that is better then youtube but not great, and i captured it through the vista snipping tool (screen capture).

Basically I want to take this low quality picture, and turn it into a good quality poster (not huge). What techniques and things must I do? I'll probably have to find a printer near here and require a specific dpi as well.

GIMP :: How To Maintain High Quality (original Quality) Of Image After Resizing It

Jun 23, 2012

My problem is related with the quality of a image.

My question is how to maintain high quality (original quality) of a image after resizing it?

If i resize it with same ratio like:

2816x2112px to 1600x1200px (4:3)
2816x1584px to 1920x1080px (16:9)

Mainly i use scale image option in Gimp. But now i need to resize many images for my work so i tried David's Batch Processor to resize my images. After using it, i found there is some quality promble with the resized image.

Then i tried, the scale option with, use quality setting from original image and JPEG quality parameter is 95, in gimp but the problem is same. I did it with also with David's batch processor- JPEG quality parameter is 95.

Other thing is that, the original image 2816x2112px (4:3), size- 3.6 MB is displaying in image viewer with 47% and the resized image 1600x1200px (4:3). size- 1.2 MB is displaying in image viewer with 83%, So my questions are: How can i check the quality of a image after resizing it, means the image is exactly same as the original? Or Is David's Batch Processor maintain the original quality of the images after resizing?. I realy need to resize many images for my work.

Photoshop :: Dodging And Burning

I had finished working on a b&w photo when I saw an area that needed to be burned in. However I was unable to do it, I assume because a layer or something was in the way. Is there a way to do burning or dodging sort of after the fact or should I do that very early on when I begin to edit the original photo?

Photoshop :: Burning Logo

Jun 11, 2004

I know there are zillions of tutorials on making burning texts and logos out there but the ones I found allways make things burn on a black (or dark) background using the wind effect.

Now, if I am right wind takes the brighter pixels and blow them into the darker ones. If you have a white background and black text the wind effect isn't working, couse it will give the effect of a burning background. The idea of using the wind effect is to make the flames come out of the text NOT go into it, right?

how to make a borning logo, text etc on a bright background? I have tried but it's not 100%.

Photoshop :: Non Destructive Burning = Different To Regular

Jul 21, 2008

I want to use the burn tool for a special effect but I want to do it on a new layer, I've read all about making a new layer set to overlay mode with 50% grey but this produces a different effect than when I burn the backround layer.

When using burn>highlights>15% on skin colour I get a grey kind of burn which is perfect but it destroys the pixles but when using the non-destructive method I get dark red effect which is not what im looking for.

I'm not using the burn tool in the typical sense (to darken part of the picture) I use the highlight/midtone/shadows seperate to create a very specific special effect with the burn tool.

Photoshop :: Premiere Elements High CPU% Burning

Mar 24, 2005

I just bought an LG DVD burner and everything appears to be working well. I can burn a data DVD with Nero and do about 4 gb in 6 minutes. So, I know it's working okay.

When I try to burn a 53 minute DVD with Adobe Premiere Elements (home videos), I encounter problems. Basically, when its encoding the data (the first step) it says the time remaining is around 4-5 hours. Does this seem right?

Also, the CPU% goes really high. I tried burning it last night before I went to bed and when I woke up I had a virtual memory error. It looked like about 75% along the way it stopped with the error.

Now, I've been searching around reading about VM, etc. and I've tried a few things:
* expanding my VM
* closing down programs in the background both manually and with msconfig (all non-windows programs) then retried it
* defragged HD
* my hard disk has 10 gb remaining so that shouldn't be an issue.

Photoshop :: Dodging/Burning - Protect Tones

Nov 14, 2008

In PS CS3 I had set up something very useful on my Wacom tablet. I had two buttons mapped to two different actions. They would do the following:

1) Load tool preset for Dodge, 25px soft round, 10%, Highlights

2) Load tool preset for Burn, 25px soft round, 10%, Shadows

With PS CS4 this doesn't work because of the new "Protect Tones" checkbox. If Protect Tones is on, the tool preset will not change from "Highlights" to "Shadows" automatically. It just gets stuck on whatever it was on previously. To make matters worse, Protect Tones turns itself ON every time you switch from Dodge to Burn, even if you've saved a Tone Preset with Protect Tones turned off!

Photoshop :: Color Changing When Using Overlay Layer For Burning

Aug 28, 2012

I generally do my dodging and burning with an overlay layer.  When burning, I typically have opacity set between 10 and 15%, and pain with a black brush.  The layer is an overlay layer with 50% gray fill.

THIS MAY HAVE BEEN HAPPENING WITH CS5, IN WHICH CASE I'M CRAZY, SO JUST TELL ME, BUT I DON'T RECALL EVER SEEING THIS..........

BUT, when I burn in CS6, instead of just darkening the area, it APPEARS I'm also getting a color shift.  I've checked to make SURE my colors are white and black (black in this case), and I've tried changing the mode of the brush from normal to luminosity just to see if that would make a difference.

Photoshop :: Dodging And Burning On Soft Light Layer

Other than making the brush strokes more visible when viewing the layer by itself does filling the layer first with 50% neutral grey do anything else? If one was to have painted the same black and white brush strokes on an empty layer set to soft light would there be any difference?

2.   I cannot burn the slideshow. Trying in Photoshop (trying a CD as well as DVD) it will not burn. The CD seemed to burn, but there was nothing on the disc when it said it was completed. Trying on the DVD it put me into Premiere Elements 10. It showed the soundtrack but not the pictures. During the burn the disc came out before burning had finished. Another time it completed the burn but there was nothing on the disc.  sometimes the unknown error 2131042560 was quoted.

Photoshop :: Artwork Size

Jun 22, 2003

I usually design for the screen (72) but lately i feel that if im putting massive amounts of time/effort into a piece.... that I dont want to deny myself the option of getting it printed down the road. Now here is the catch...my camera is only 2MP. So the best i can do with that is an 8X10 @ 150dpi which isnt much (its ok quality.....i have an 11X14 @150 hanging on my wall thats decent).

So now when i go to create a new piece i dont know what size to make it. I cant jam up the ppi to far cause i dont have that kinda quality photograph...but i dont want a small document set to 72 cause if i want it res it up i get an extremely small print.

Like 2 examples...one piece i have i made 612x792 (8x10) but its at 72..so if i wanted to print it at 150 (at best) it's going to be really small (4x5... if that). Now another piece i made is 1000x1294 @72 (a large 8x10). Now with this size my 1600x1200 photographs fit fine and if i res it up to 150 i can still achieve an ok 8x5.

So now what do i do. I cant make an 8x11 @ 300 ( i dont have that kinda quality) but i hate the fact that an image i put so much work into can only print like 3x4.
