This is my first post because I could not figure out the problem. I'm trying to use the font ARIAL BLACK in Bold and Italic. However, when I select the font, the bold/italic feature is disabled. It only happens in PS as I can bold and italicize this font in Paint, Word, etc.
View 1 Repliesi have photoshop 7.0 on a windows xp machine. trying to work with a psd file that uses arial narrow bold and arial narrow italic fonts. when i dragged the file into photoshop, it told me those fonts weren't available. downloaded arialnb.ttf and arialni.ttf from the internet, went into my control panel - fonts folder and deleted the old ones that weren't being recognized and installed the new ones. they are still not recognized. microsoft word doesn't recognize them either.

Now in CS6 I only find Arial as a font and can make it either narrow or bold but not both. I have installed the ”whole” Arial font family in windowsfonts, so there I can find Arial Narrow, but why does it and the other Arial fonts appear in Illustrator?

if i open old document (x4), everything is ok, but if i click update text, again Arial narrow bold is wrong.
I have problem this Arial text style. Everytime i moved the text it looks like a bold text.
I have noticed only if the snap is ON. but if I OFF the snap the text is okay. even the attribute is the same.
We have some blocks that have static text labels on the left and numeric attributes on the right. When these blocks are rotated so the text is near vertical the static text has a bold appearance.
If you explode/burst the block then this 'bold' appearance goes away. If you rotate the text to normal then the effect disappears as well. The bold appearance shows up on a plot as well. The effect is subtle at times but noticeable.
Sample drawing attached, see the block near the top of the drawing and a copy of it rotated to normal. Use the BURST command on the block on the left to see the change.
the normal form of Arial Black is not showing up on my font list in Photoshop.
Only the italic version is available for use.
I have verified in the Windows Font folder that both styles are installed.
When i write Mtxt i have to use accents on some vowels. But when i put the accent, the space line between the 2 text line gets thicker.Then, i have text with various spaceline height, i don't really like that.
Is there a way to stop autocad from giving extra space when i use an accent to get equal space lines between text?
When I open a pdf produced using dwgtopdf I get a warning from Adobe Acrobat that it "cannot find or create the font 'Arial-Black'. Some characters may not display or print correctly".
Looked at the files present within the template when I go to e-transmit and inded, there is no sign of that font, but the title block displays perfectly well.
Checked my fonts folder in control panel and while there is an 'Arial Black', there is no 'Arial-Black'.
Is this a problem within ACAD or Adobe Acrobat. The problem has only appeared over the last few weeks.
Running Canon 2620Using Post Script driver with good colour matching.Using CorelDraw X5 sp 3 and all my fonts print out really heavy on the black, they almost look Bold. Text is not cmyk, just pure black.Converting to curves or exporting as eps and importing doesn't resolve it either. Seems I have have tried all settings. Text prints fine in other applications.Also prints fine in CorelDraw x3.
View 11 Replies View RelatedI work for a website company and spend a lot of time producing images which contain standard text within svg files for use on webpages. I have noticed that the text in these files often doesn't display properly: it is misaligned and in sarif. I have found this is due to many browsers not recognising the text 'Arial-MT' that illustrator uses as its standard Arial font.
It seems that Illustrator makes it impossible to save text within svg files as Arial - a universal font that all web browsers can read. This seems like a critical failure in Illustrator and basically makes Illustrator unusable for web-based svgs...
At the moment I have resorted to creating a program that finds and replaces Arial-MT to Arial within the actual svg file. Any actual way within illustrator to save Arial AS Arial and not this ridiculous Arial-MT fonttype that no webbroswer can use.
im using CAD07 &06 when i print out a drawing with lots of text some of it come out bold and some normal yet they are all the same font/height/size etc in the dwg?
does it make a diff if its mtext or single line text?
in Photoshop, Arial 12 points, *looks* like Arial 10 points.

I am a relative newcomer to Photoshop CS5. I have been creating a document with a background image layer and a couple of text box layers. The font is set at Arial, italic, sharp. When I save the document as a PDF file, random words appear in bold. I have tried deleting these words in the PSD document text layer and retyping them but they still appear as bold in the PDF file. Interestingly when I save as a JPEG image the bold words appear as normal. CS5 version is 12.0.4 and OS is Windows XP.

for some time now I cant use Times New Roman, Arial, and some other Font Families that comes with Windows 7. I can use the fonts in Word but not in any Adobe product. Why? That wasnt happening on Windows XP.
Another thing, is it possible to sort the fonts in illustrator..
I have Arial installed on my computer, and it works in all my other Adobe programs, but in Illustrator it does not come up in the drop down menu. I have all the other versions of it there (narrow, italic, bold etc..) just not regular!

Thing is, I don't have it set to bold. I tried with Tahoma and Ariel. I tried it as none, sharp, crisp, strong, and smooth. I checked other messages here about faux type probs, but no luck.

I'm using PS6. Trying to use the warped text function, and I just get the error message "Could not complete your request because the type layer uses a faux bold style". Well, normally the answer is to just turn off the faux bold style with the flyout menu on the character window or on the top of the screen. But the problem is that it's already off. I've tried resetting all my tools back to the default settings. I've tried using different fonts. (currently using arial). Nothing seems to work. No matter what I try, it just continues to throw the same error each time.

Yesterday, while opening an older cdr file ( I believe from version 10 ) I’ve got a message ( warning ) that I do not have fonts installed used in this file and they have to be substituted. Mentioned fonts are default windows Arial fonts. Quickly I realized that X5 not only warned about missing fonts. In fact it deleted them from my windows font folder. 4 Arial types were gone, affecting not only my drawings but many other programs on my computer.I reinstalled missing fonts. Removed X5 from HD, downloaded the latest X5 version, I believe containing Sp3. Now every time I open CorelDraw I loose after mentioned Arial fonts. I've been using X5 for the past few months and used to open older files several times without such problems ever occurring.
View 6 Replies View RelatedEverytime I select Mtext, specifically in a dimension, Autocad 2010 Arch automatically switches the highlighted (computed measurement) text to Arial before I've done anything. So everytime I have to edit a dimension Mtext, I have to reselect the computed dimension (<> / highlighted text), then select the correct text style again to get it back to the correct text style I'm using (FluxArch ttf). All of my text styles in the file have no association w/ Arial, and all the dimension styles rely on the text styles...so I'm stumped. Do I need to repair Autocad due to it Mtext editor being corrupted or something to get it to work properly again?

Everything I have found is either a serif style font, or doesn't include numbers.
why the Arial narrow font used in dwg files from earlier Acad version won't display as expected in Acad 2011/Windows 7/32 Bit.
All text characters display as a very simple thin lines of constant thickness no matter how close you zoom in. Neither can I create new text using A/Narrow though all other fonts work ok.
Files with this issue were created in WindowsXP on a PC and the problem is surfacing on Win7 running on VM Ware Fusion installed on iMac & therefore preventing me from fully migrate over to Mac as I need to work now and again on old files.
we have just upgraded our 5 man shop to X6.This is happening on all of our setups.
when we are selecting a row of text to edit. if you start typing while the old text is highlighted it will keep the current font and color.
if you select that row and hit backspace to delete a few letters until the text line is empty and begin typing it will default to Arial and make the color black.
