I'm just curious why Bridge would default to Fireworks for PNG files? I pretty much use PS exclusively for my image work and I'm not up to speed on FW at all. Is there something FW offers that I'm missing out on?

Opening a 640x480 8 bit .psd file stored on a local machine is taking 30 seconds or more...unless I unplug the network cable. Then it opens instantaneously. It can be any file; I've tested more than one.
While I'm waiting for the file to be opened, I can see short bursts of outbound network activity.
I’m currently having a serious problem with my Photoshop CS4 where it continuously crashes, for no apparent reason, since July 16, 2013.  I have done everything recommended via Adobe forum to try and fix this problem though it still persists. It crashes randomly and I am usually unable to use Photoshop for more than 20 minutes. Below is the error message that appeared when Photoshop crashed,

They were working correctly yesterday, and now the presence of any extension, including 'Adobe Exchange,' will cause the entire application to hang once they are selected from their panel. This seems to be the case for any/all extensions (at least the ones I use). Once I remove them all, the stock tools on the right-hand panel work correctly. However, adding back any of them means that using the panel will crash the application - whether it is selecting an extension or using a built-in feature like "Adjustments" or "3D".

Curiously, when an extension is added to the panel (assuming I don't click on it and crash PS) and I close the application like normal, Photoshop also hangs on exit, forcing me to 'force quit' it. I am not sure how that is related, but there seems to be some kind of correlation.

I'm on an early-2011 macbook pro, 8gb of ram, Radeon 6750M with 1gb of video ram, loads of disk space.
I dont know if this is just me but whenever i try to create and work with a 3D object in Photoshop, this black square seems to pop up for no apparent reason and its really bugging me [mainly because it sometimes blocks my view of the perspective].
View 1 Replies View RelatedThe way i see it that photoshop is a great program and so if fireworks, i have used fireworks since the days of Macromedia Fireworks MX and i have just started to use photoshop within the past year or so. when i got Photoshop CS3 and Fireworks CS3 I found that fireworks has a wider selection of styles for fonts and what not than photoshop has. so for me Fireworks is a bit better.

* I know PS can not use layered PNG. Is there any tool out there that can convert these to PSD with layers intact? I have a ton of old work that is in that format and will cry if I have to recreate everything.
* I noticed that the select tool is very picky in PS. If I am working on a layer or object, I can not select out of that object to activate another layer or object. I have to confirm changes (annoying pop up) and select the object or layer from the layer panel....EVERY TIME. Is there a way to change this behavior?
* The text tool is defaulted to show in PT. Is there a way to change this to default in pixels? I am using Photoshop for the web in most cases, not print.
* The status bar (bottom left in Mac) can show document dimensions, but it is always in inches. Can I change this to pixels?
I switched from Photoshop to Fireworks back in 1999 - because of its mix of Vector & Raster editing, slice/export and GIF animation capabilities. But... my command of Photoshop and Illustrator has suffered. I feel there's so much I could do with those tools not only for for print, but also for websites. I tried going back to Photoshop a few times over the years but just couldn't manage its drawing tools - maddening!---------------------However, I'm now seriously considering switching if PS does what I need... and more. I have a few questions.
1. How should you add the content in Dreamweaver? I inserted a layer box and that worked, but...
2. Should I "punch out" areas for content? And then just put the correct color in the cell that is left?
I put text on an image and for no apparent reason, GIMP condenses it (or at least displays it as if it's condensed) no matter what font I use. I can change everything else about the font, including kerning, but the letters stay narrow. This happens even with fonts that don't have a condensed variant.Plus, GIMP gets really slow. Normally it works at a tolerable speed but when it does the condensing letters thing it acts like I have a bunch of applications running, regardless of whether I have anything else open.
This is the second time GIMP has done this. The first time was a few months ago. I think it cleared up after a few days without any action on my part. But it is extremely irritating.
I took screenshots of various fonts. I didn't insert any line breaks. GIMP is wrapping text as if the fonts are the normal width, so I'm guessing it is mostly a display issue.
Is it possible to export the different states of a Fireworks .PNG file (Gif animation) into a Photoshop PSD-animation, so that they are still editable?

On my system, it happen that Paint shop wait around 4 sec and do nothing.then it begin to calculate and progress requester is show for around 1.5 sec
Can see when switch in task manager the CPU load refresh to high(4* /sec seem value update).when i choose a setting or i change a value it take always 4 sec until CPU load increase from idle % to full load.
I have also written a Bug report and suggest that Paint shop begin calc as soon as possible, and stop if a value is change and calc again soon as possible with new value.So all can work lots faster.currently i get no response.
The Smart Photo Fix, too have a delay before calc.It is 1 sec.I test with a 320*250 Pixel image (0.3 megapixel), here the additional delays are too in.
In the feature list X4 stand that it can use GFX Card to be faster.I have a gforce 6600 with older pixelshader.So i guess X4 use no GFX card.The render speed of all effects i think good, but the wait time make the usage of this program not fun. I think the X4 Version is great, very good denoise sharp and enhance photo functions.
In one of the columns, for different parts I have value *Varies* displayed instead of iproperty value that other parts display. Why?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm currently using Photoshop CS6. Currently I have my Grid set up for every 10 pixels and 1 subdivision for each. I know how to use the "Control + ' " shortcut to toggle the Grid on and off. When I have the Grid turned on, items will snap to it. However, when I have the Grid off, items won't.
This was one thing I really liked about Fireworks, was that it would continue to snap to a Grid even if it wasn't visible. Any way to accomplish this in Photoshop?
why can't I directly import an illustrator cs2 file into macromedia fireworks mx or macromedia fireworks 8, or save the document as a illustrator 8 file and import that? (which is what fireworks says to do) It frustrates me that I can;t import them as a vector unless I import/place the file in phtoshop cs2 as a smart image then save that as a new document, them importing that into fireworks.Is there something I am doing wrong? Or is there a special way to import other vector ....

View 6 Replies View Relatedpolylines in my current drawing have started to come out with a very fat line width. It doesnt matter what layer its on, even though previously they were drawn 'properly' i.e the thin line width that shows when you have show/hide lineweight on 'hide'. This doesnt happen on any other drawing tool (arc, circle, polygon etc). The lineweights in layer control are all 'default'. I can't explain this as it seems to have just happened. Is it a known bug or something?

I have gone through all the settings i could find between my two files and made them identical, it still happens. When i paste the logo into the same file it was created in it pastes correctly.
View 20 Replies View RelatedFor some reason I am having problems exporting .CDR's to .JPG - I am using a custom page layout, 12x10" in landscape and have basically created 4 images with a 1" border around them by means of setting the page background to a plain colour and importing a .JPG to the desired size. This worked fine for two of my images, but, for some reason the other 2 images will not save as a 12 x 10 sized image, which means the 'border' is cropped on the two sides.
It's hair pulling out time for me as I have done the same process for two of the prints, but the other two will not stop cropping themselves in the export process.
I just converted a PDF file from a DWF file (from AutoCAD 2012). Â I also needed to print the PDF; unfortunatley, the PDF is taking forever to print.
This is what I did.
-I went under Plot-ModelÂ
-Under the Printer/plotter, I clicked DWG to PDF.pc3 and click on Properties
-Click under the Device and Document Settings tab
-Click on Custom Properties
-Click on Custom Properties buttom
-Under the DWG to PDF PRoperties table, I click on Capture all under Font Handling
-I uncheck Include Layer information under Additonal Output Setting
-I click ok
When I begin to plot under Batch Plot, I also went and click on Publish Options, and on that table under Layer information, I click on Don't include.
For some reason, it's printing very slow. Â I don't know what other option I have in order the print faster.

I have an AutoLISP program that hangs up for no apparent reason. I can run the program with an Alert in the loop. The program is a sheet generator, creating a border (insert with attributes), dimensions and MultiLeaders in Model Space, then a new Layout Tab is generated and the new elements are CHSPACEd into the new layout. An Alert temporarily halts the program once the task of a new Layout is created. In this form, the program works as designed. However, if I comment out the Alert, the program hangs up as if in an infinite loop. Also, hitting Escape does not cancel the AutoLISP, I must use Task Manager to end AutoCAD instead. My computer was recently upgraded to Win7 64-bit. I'm running 64-bit versions of software. (AutoCAD MAP 2011).
