Photoshop :: Exporting A Single Style
May 18, 2004i've never been big on styles, so i've never really come across this before, but how do you export a single style instead of a style library? and if you can't do that, then how do i create a new library?
all i want in the world right now is to send a single style to the guy across the office to the other graphisist here, rather than go through the process of telling him each setting one by one...

Oct 3, 2013Essentially, I've got a bunch of extruded polylines - so, some 3-d shapes - that I'm viewing in a new layout/'viewport' (?), which is set to SW Isometric view in '2D wireframe' viewing style. I've got my lines in different colors, mapped to be all black but different line widths in a custom Plot Style .ctb file.
So, when I change the 'page setup' to "display plot style", everything seems fine. All the lines go black in the viewport, and it seems as though I've configured everything correctly. When I preview an export to .pdf, however - or actually export it - this is lost. The export comes out in color.
I've done exporting using both EXPORTPDF, and PLOT, in both cases making absolutely certain that the .ctb file is being linked correctly (with EXPORTPDF, I've done it both using the 'current' page settings, and also 'override'), and with the PLOT, using the DWG to PDF converter,
I've looked through EXPORTSETTINGS, EXPORT...
On the same computer, with another earlier, simpler file, I have no issues accomplishing what I want.
For additional information/to make things more annoying for me, at this stage, the previous file which DID work seemed to conserve layer information, and allowed me to edit individual lines later, if necessary... This colored "I don't care about your plot styles I'm not going B/W" file seems to just be a flat image.
I've compared the two files in two tabs extensively, and can't seem to find ANY other difference, in any of the settings...
PC running Windows 8, Autocad 2014, Adobe Reader XI. Tried both the DWG to PDF and Adobe PDF plugins to export to PDF...

Sep 27, 2008The way i see it that photoshop is a great program and so if fireworks, i have used fireworks since the days of Macromedia Fireworks MX and i have just started to use photoshop within the past year or so. when i got Photoshop CS3 and Fireworks CS3 I found that fireworks has a wider selection of styles for fonts and what not than photoshop has. so for me Fireworks is a bit better.

Feb 10, 2004Looking at the education price for each license, Fireworks is much lower compared to Photoshops...which is a PLUS.
I understand Photoshop is the leader in image editing but Fireworks can do what Photoshop does, right?
Which would you personally recommend out of the two?
I doubt I have time to learn both program and once I start, I would like to remain with that program.

Dec 6, 2007I have noticed some annoying things about initial interaction with PS that I wanted some quick feedback on:
* I know PS can not use layered PNG. Is there any tool out there that can convert these to PSD with layers intact? I have a ton of old work that is in that format and will cry if I have to recreate everything.
* I noticed that the select tool is very picky in PS. If I am working on a layer or object, I can not select out of that object to activate another layer or object. I have to confirm changes (annoying pop up) and select the object or layer from the layer panel....EVERY TIME. Is there a way to change this behavior?
* The text tool is defaulted to show in PT. Is there a way to change this to default in pixels? I am using Photoshop for the web in most cases, not print.
* The status bar (bottom left in Mac) can show document dimensions, but it is always in inches. Can I change this to pixels?

Jun 29, 2009I switched from Photoshop to Fireworks back in 1999 - because of its mix of Vector & Raster editing, slice/export and GIF animation capabilities. But... my command of Photoshop and Illustrator has suffered. I feel there's so much I could do with those tools not only for for print, but also for websites. I tried going back to Photoshop a few times over the years but just couldn't manage its drawing tools - maddening!---------------------However, I'm now seriously considering switching if PS does what I need... and more. PS pros Most web design job ads specify PS and AI not FWsI need to be adept with PS and AI for print etc. I'm fossilizing!Assets and Artwork are often PS and AI files, it'd be good to share files with others in the company without probsIt'd be good to use the same app and sometimes the same files for web and printRaster Image editing is more advancedMore 'painterly' in its capabilities.Feels like I need to move on and upskill as a designer PS cons Can I draw in PS as easily as FWs? - or will I need to awkwardly integrate Illustrator into the workflow?Is it as easy to make animated gifs? Nov 12, 2012I'm currently using Photoshop CS6. Currently I have my Grid set up for every 10 pixels and 1 subdivision for each. I know how to use the "Control + ' " shortcut to toggle the Grid on and off. When I have the Grid turned on, items will snap to it. However, when I have the Grid off, items won't.
This was one thing I really liked about Fireworks, was that it would continue to snap to a Grid even if it wasn't visible. Any way to accomplish this in Photoshop?

May 21, 2011I have 10 years worth of .pngs with layers that I created using Fireworks. I recently rebuilt my system and really really didn't want to install/reinstall any Macromedia software in the new system so I got Photo & Graphics Designer 6.
It looks great for editing photos, however I still need to get to the individual layers of some graphics that are in Fireworks .png format.
Is there some conversion/import in any Xara software that accesses the layers? Any other raster program other than Photoshop or Fireworks.

Oct 12, 2008I have recorded an action to create a transparent image on a batch of photos. Next I ran the image processor using the File/Scripts/image processor. When running the action the error message occurs no matter how many ways I attempt to modify the action. Error: The object "Style "Shape Style"" is not currently available.
I then look in the action window to check and under the steps Make Fill Layer: Style: Shape, Style 1 appears but I can't delete it. This one error message makes it impossible for me to image process a batch of photos with a watermark on them.
