Photoshop :: Fireworks To Dreamweaver

Nov 30, 2003

I've made some mock up pages in PS and then sliced them in Fireworks and published. It works.

I have a few questions.

1. How should you add the content in Dreamweaver? I inserted a layer box and that worked, but...

2. Should I "punch out" areas for content? And then just put the correct color in the cell that is left?

Photoshop :: VS. Fireworks

Sep 27, 2008

The way i see it that photoshop is a great program and so if fireworks, i have used fireworks since the days of Macromedia Fireworks MX and i have just started to use photoshop within the past year or so. when i got Photoshop CS3 and Fireworks CS3 I found that fireworks has a wider selection of styles for fonts and what not than photoshop has. so for me Fireworks is a bit better.

Looking at the education price for each license, Fireworks is much lower compared to Photoshops...which is a PLUS.

I understand Photoshop is the leader in image editing but Fireworks can do what Photoshop does, right?

Which would you personally recommend out of the two?

I doubt I have time to learn both program and once I start, I would like to remain with that program.

Photoshop :: PS To Dreamweaver

I have a website I made and sliced in Photoshop. I thought I needed to open it in Dreamweaver and then insert my rollover buttons. Well I cannot get them in the position where I want them to be. It looks fine in DW but when I got to check it in IE the buttons are off and made worse when i change the window size.

Photoshop :: Going To Dreamweaver ...

Nov 22, 2003

Does anyone have a prefered method from going from Photoshop (save for web) to Dreamweaver and still maintain some sort of table layout? I can slice and dice my designs in Photoshop, but after I import the HTML file into Dreamweaver, there is no sort of table structure. Sure the HTML file displays the page and images, but I can't really do much with any text data on the page. Should I assume at this point that you must then create all of your tables? I keep hearing that it's easier to code straight HTML, but I spend so much time designing the page, that this can be very tedious, plus the learning curve. I know some template companies provide the PSD and the HTML, but I'm not sure if they are hand-coding the HTML.

Photoshop :: Dreamweaver MX

Mar 30, 2003

Just got DW MX. Building a site from Colin Smiths book FROM PS TO DW- 3 steps...I built homepage in PS7, sliced and optimized in Imageready and then opened up dreamweaver MX, defined site etc.

When I open (in DW) the homepage.html link my page comes up but it has 3 extra slices in my left vertical nav bar and also 2 extra slices in the bottom of my main area.

I dont recall putting these in. Can I get rid of them? Will they screw me up later on if

I leave them(nothing is in the slices, they just highlight when mouse goes over?

I also went into imageready and PS7 to try to open up my old folder where this site that

I am building was and I cant find the folder anymore..and I KNOW i DIDN'T DELETE IT.

Does the folder go away once it goes into DW MX?

Do I only work in DW MX for editing and uploading from now on?

Photoshop :: Fireworks To PS Questions

Dec 6, 2007

I have noticed some annoying things about initial interaction with PS that I wanted some quick feedback on:

* I know PS can not use layered PNG. Is there any tool out there that can convert these to PSD with layers intact? I have a ton of old work that is in that format and will cry if I have to recreate everything.

* I noticed that the select tool is very picky in PS. If I am working on a layer or object, I can not select out of that object to activate another layer or object. I have to confirm changes (annoying pop up) and select the object or layer from the layer panel....EVERY TIME. Is there a way to change this behavior?

* The text tool is defaulted to show in PT. Is there a way to change this to default in pixels? I am using Photoshop for the web in most cases, not print.

* The status bar (bottom left in Mac) can show document dimensions, but it is always in inches. Can I change this to pixels?

Photoshop :: Ditch Fireworks For...

Jun 29, 2009

I switched from Photoshop to Fireworks back in 1999 - because of its mix of Vector & Raster editing, slice/export and GIF animation capabilities. But... my command of Photoshop and Illustrator has suffered. I feel there's so much I could do with those tools not only for for print, but also for websites. I tried going back to Photoshop a few times over the years but just couldn't manage its drawing tools - maddening!---------------------However, I'm now seriously considering switching if PS does what I need... and more. PS pros Most web design job ads specify PS and AI not FWsI need to be adept with PS and AI for print etc. I'm fossilizing!Assets and Artwork are often PS and AI files, it'd be good to share files with others in the company without probsIt'd be good to use the same app and sometimes the same files for web and printRaster Image editing is more advancedMore 'painterly' in its capabilities.Feels like I need to move on and upskill as a designer PS cons Can I draw in PS as easily as FWs? - or will I need to awkwardly integrate Illustrator into the workflow?Is it as easy to make animated gifs? (perhaps I should do it in Flash)Learning curve So here it is: Why should I make the switch to Photoshop?

Photoshop :: Launching CS6 From Dreamweaver

Jul 16, 2012

Since I installed Photoshop CS6 I am no longer able to launch Photoshop from the properties bar in Dreamweaver.This problem started when I installed Photoshop CS6, I was originally using Dreamweaver CS5.5. I upgraded Dreamweaver to CS6 but it did not correct the problem.

Additional information: When in Dreamweaver, if I select an image on a web page the icon in the properties window shows the PS icon but when I click on it I get the following error message:

Maybe this belongs in the Dreamweaver section but since the problem only started after installing Photoshop CS6 I thought this would be the appropriate place for it.

Operating System:
Windows 7 Ultimate (64bit)
AMD 6 core 3.2gHz proccessor
256 Gb SSD (operating system and programs)
2 Terabyte HD (for Data)

Photoshop :: CS6 - Snap To Invisible Grid Like Fireworks?

I'm currently using Photoshop CS6. Currently I have my Grid set up for every 10 pixels and 1 subdivision for each. I know how to use the "Control + ' " shortcut to toggle the Grid on and off. When I have the Grid turned on, items will snap to it. However, when I have the Grid off, items won't.

This was one thing I really liked about Fireworks, was that it would continue to snap to a Grid even if it wasn't visible. Any way to accomplish this in Photoshop?
