Photoshop :: Algorithmically Create Nebulae / Wispy Clouds Effects
Oct 14, 2011
Is there a way to algorithmically create (no painting or brushes) Nebulae / Wispy Clouds effects in Photoshop. Random clouds and Difference Clouds filters can certainly create interesting patterns, but they are miles away from authentically looking clouds or nebulae.
On the other hand several fractal generators can do the trick - and XenoDream and Apohysis in particular can create photo-realistic nebulae and clouds, but doing it straight in Photoshop would be a good skill to have.

I'm basically getting the static line thickness. Even with Simulate Pressure check box checked, it still doesn't work.
I'm currently using CS3.

I am making revision clouds on some record drawings. They come out all peachy, but when I save the file and reopen it, all of the wonderful little clouds change to jagged straight lines.

I am trying to create tilt shift effects. issue in selecting focus and blur areas. I do the following - Go to Quick Mask(Press 'Q') --> Select Gradient (Press 'G') --> Then I draw a vertical line to define the focus area. Usually a relatively darker red color used to appear as a band. But suddenly I see a very vague red color. And when I exit Quick Mask (Press 'Q') again the marching ants selects the entire picture and not the focus and blur areas.

I have a night-sky picture with a moon. I would like to make clouds on it, which would look really realistic, in dark parts they should be hardly visible or better said they should be dark, but they should be more bright over the moon. The moon shouldn't be covered whole. Can anybody help me with this? How to make such clouds?

I am wanting to create visual tracers in my video, something like waving a flashlight around in the dark or the effect you would expect someone hallucinating to see. I found a tutorial on tracer rounds like for bullets, but I want to make flowing ones for a person casually moving, like while they talk or walk.

I have intermediate level knowledge of Photoshop (CS5). I did a one-day course a couple of months ago, where the instructor told us how to put shapes/images/text in the sky and then make it so that it looked like cloud.
For example we wrote something like, "High in the Sky", then managed to make it look like it was like clouds in the sky that were spelling it out. We also dropped a picture of a plane or something then did the same thing, so there was a cloud shaped plane in the sky. The problem is I've completely forgotten how to do this but it so happens I need it for a work project I am doing.

I have several photos with a plain blue sky
Is it possible to add clouds to these images.
I made a few sky shots today that I can use.
I did find a way to add clouds using filters but was very time consuming brushing away all the areas where I did not want clouds.

I want to try an effect on the font only.
Can I use Render>Clouds on the inside of a font only?
I want to leave the background untouched (if filled) or transparent.
I don't want to use the magic wand tool on the font, and then cut out shape from a clouds background. I need more detail than that would offer to get the effect.
