In PSP X5 I'm pretty sure there's a way to make User Defined Instant Effects in the Adjust mode, but I can't find the steps in the Help Files. I'm thinking these are just scripts, but I'm not sure.
View 1 RepliesI installed PSP X6 Ulitimate and when I first pulled it up I saw Instant Effects Thumbnails under the Adjust Tab. I experimented with a few then had to get off. When I reopened the program all the thumbnails were gone. No matter what I do I can't get the Instant Effects to show up in any of the tabs. Sometimes I'll scroll the mouse over the area, click it, and the photo will have one of the instant effects applied, e.g. black and white. That doesn't do me any good because I can't see what is being applied before clicking if the thumbnails aren't showing. how to get the instant effects to show back up?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI saw a very neat tutorial for spotlighting a photo in PS [URL]. I tried my darnedest to translate to PSP X4. I naturally went to the the menu bar in PSP, EFFECTS> ILLUMINATION >LIGHTS...
Basically, I can get the light everywhere but the actual area I want spotlighted.
I currently have X4 Ultimate installed with KPT Effects & Nik Color Effex Pro 3. I now also have X5 Ultimate installed. Now X5 came with the same Nik Color Effex but I haven't installed it yet.Does KPT Effects from X4 will work in X5? Can I copy the folder from X4 into X5? (Same question pertains to the NIk Color Effex. Useful to install it again when it's already intalled to get it working in X5.)
I thought about just trying to point X5 to the X4 plugin folder but after just trying that with something else, I'm a little leary. I tried to point X5 to the Photoshop CS6 folder where AlienSkin Eye Candy 6 installed. But right after doing that and re-starting PSP, the startup box hung. I used task manager to stop it but the program still opened anyway. I knew that wasn't right, so I removed the link to that folder and X5 opened normally again. The newest installer for Eye Candy 6 won't let me do a custom install. So, how to get the filter working in X5.
Anyway, my main question is if I can get the KPT effects from X4 working in X5 and if so what I need to do.
This really doesn't qualify as a tutorial, rather it's a reminder that various effects (including distortions) can be applied to masks to achieve interesting results.
Take this somewhat boring publicity photo, for example:

1. Make an elliptical selection, re-position it as necessary, and feather it by 20px.
2. Create a mask from that selection:

3. Apply Effects...Texture Effects...Polished Stone to the mask with these settings:

4. Apply Effects...Distortion Effects...Ripple to the mask with these settings:

The combination of the polished stone and ripple effects works nicely here, since the final effect is similar to the loose strands of her hair style.
I used the KPT Collection's KPT Noize effect to create a nebulous background and added a yellow-to-blue gradient layer above it (set to "Multiply" mode); and a bevel layer style to the text, reducing the kerning after the capital J's to -50. I also applied the Smart Photo Fix to the original photo, reducing the brightness slightly.

I took photos of some old building drawings and used clarify, noise removal, contrast, etc. I wanted to apply the exact same modifications to all of the other photos of the drawings. Is there a simple way to do this? Can I save it as a preset or filter or something similar. It would sure save a lot of time.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI recently upgraded from PSP X3 to X4 and, once X4 was installed on my system, uninstalled X3. After the uninstall I noticed that the Corel Instant Viewer was no longer on my system.
The Instant Viewer that came packaged with X3 was a nice light-weight photo viewer which I thought was much better than the Windows Preview functionality and there appears to be no replacement for it in X4 (or at least I cannot find one). I have also gone to Corel's web page looking for a separate downloadable product to use in its place, but have found nothing. I cannot find a way to uninstall X3 without also uninstalling the viewer so how to get the Instant Viewer without having to re-install X3 and keep both X3 and X4 on my system simultaneously?
When I put my DSLR memory card into my computer the files appear in order in Windows Explorer, but when I double click a photo, Corel Instant Viewer opens but the thumbnails are no longer in order according to their file numbers. Some will be in order, but earlier (lower file numbers) files will be sprinkled throughout seemingly at random. I can't figure out how the viewer decides to arrange them or how I can make it display my files in the order in whidch they were shot. What am I missing?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI recently installed Corel Paintshop PhotoPro X3. I find now that when I double-click a gif file (and I think some other types) it is opened with Corel Instant Viewer rather than Microsoft Office 2010. I want Office to be the default viewer, so from Windows Explorer I right-clicked the gif file, selected "Open with..." then "Select default program", then Microsoft Office 2010, and checked "Always use the selected program to open this kind of file", finally "OK". The file then opened with Office. However the next time I double-clicked the same file, it opened once more with Corel Instant Viewer.
The procedure I followed has worked in other cases, so I don't understand why it doesn't work now. Is there any way of preventing Corel Instant Viewer from being the default viewer short of uninstalling it?
I am running Win 7 64bit Pro with several users defined on a PC. PSP X4 runs OK for my user, but all other users cannot start PSP X4 they get a message Temp Directory not defined. The Temp Directory is defined and valid with write permissions.
Windows is installed on C: drive, but User directories are on E: Drive

I have even tried copying the corel hive of HKCUSoftwareCorel from my user and "DocumentsCorel Paintshop Pro" directory to the other user, but still get the temp directory is not defined message
So basically although PSP X4 is running for one user on the PC, none of the other users can start it to run for the first time

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have created keyframes from audio file and used them to generate some effect, all works fine, it is amazing how easy it is However, I would like to generate flash (?) so that these effects would be dynamic to different audio files after export.
What I want is basically to create effects that can be used in life event to the streaming music.
After intalling Premiere pro CS6 and After effects CS6, I installed add-ons for these programs (newblue, boris, prodad...). When I open After Effects it gives me 38 cases of effects (Detail Enhancer, noise Reducer...) redundant in other programs, telling me to get rid of them.
When I check these effects in my programs, they are mainly .aex files, located in Premiere Pro CS6, Adobe Common Plug-ins, NewBlue Video effects collections 1 to 6. Some of them also exist in avid /pinnacle studio programs (my former video tools I still use to close previous video projects) before concentrating in Adobe CS6 suite. I don't know what to remove in a safe way. Premiere pro CS6 doesn't worry about redundancies ! Only After Effects...
Specifically the Boris Continuum plugins. I get this error:
Seems to happen for really no reason, even if I apply the effect and let the comp sit idle, it hapens after a minute or so.

I have made a short film of 6 minutes (in 6 parts on after effects) I have added all the effects and the camera work on AE, but it needs a lot of editing here and there, which I find impossible to do on AE since you can't cut and join scenes like Premier pro. I need to import all these sequences onto premier pro for editing now. The problem is once I import the files, it imports in the right order in systematic folders etc, but it doesn't show any of the camera work or the special effects like gaussian blur etc. All my hard work has gone.
There must be a way you can import the after effects file on premier the way it looks on AE.
Another problem is I read some boards and it has been suggested to edit the clips first on premier and then add effects on AE but I read this really late and I've already composited the whole film on AE. I just need premier for cutting now.
P.S: I also thought about exporting the AE sequences as TGA files but there's ZERO space left in my internal hard disk for that, and it would take forever to export them all anyway. Any other kind of export would reduce the original quality which I dont want, and which I dont have space for anyway, so that option is out as well.
I lost my Windows 7 system disk, and reinstalled on a new disk. I have reinstalled PSP X6, but I really want to restore all those favorite user preferences/settings.
Corel does not let us bring settings over from version to version, but surely I can restore my X6 settings to this reinstall?
I have a backup of almost! everything that was on my drive, and have restored my user files, and my profiles for many applications. But where are the PSP settings stored?
I'm getting the same error on a project. Originally created in CC/Mac, down converted to CS6/PC (I don't yet have the exact version release). The sequence is 10 layers deep, and throws this error if we try to preview. If 8 of the 10 layers are turned off, then the sequence will preview as normal. So, is this a bug and is there a CS 6 version release that fixes this, or am I looking to reallocate RAM?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI've made a fabulous Smoke Text effect that I then insert the .mov file into Final Cut Pro. The smoke effect I downloaded from the tutorial has a black background and therefore when rendered out, it's a basic white text against a black background. Once in FCP, I have to turn the file's opacity down in order for it to layer over a video file and not black out what I layer over it.
How can I make the file transparent? A simple toggle of the transparency grid isn't going to do it. I need to make or find a video of smoke that is transparent?
How can I make the streaks in these pics and the white glow/streak effect above her name in the first pic?

I've been trying to paint some paint effects on the tree but when I make is paintable and try to paint on it I get problems. I paint on the surface and everything looks fine. As soon as release the mouse button my curve and paint effect jump to the base of the tree. No matter where I paint on the tree.
