Paint.NET :: How To Move And Manipulate Text Items
Mar 6, 2012
How to create a piece of text art using Paint.net? I have been trying to create something with a variety of text element in different colors and fonts, and every time I switch to a new element, I seem to lose the ability to move and and/or manipulate the text items that I created prior. Not sure if this is clear…
I am hoping to link text items between pages and items in the drawing such as elevations?
So, ideally, I would have a front page to my drawing set, and this would have a 'Contents' type table on it, with the title name of each drawing in one column, then the drawing number in the next column. This is the tricky bit, someone must know: If i was to change the name / number of any item in this table, could it change also (linked to) the following items:
Drawing title (as a text idem on the layout sheet that that drawing relates to)
Drawing number (as a text idem on the layout sheet that that drawing relates to)
Elevation call-out (on the plan view)
And possibly:
Excel reference cell
Drawing layout tab title (this might be pushing it!!)
Perhaps this could be done by linking to an external Excel spreadsheet with these titles modified in there? I'm not sure. This would be ideal as typing into excel is a lot easier than the triple click text modify method required currently.
I waste a lot of time renaming and updating sheet names / titles / numbers. Are there standard templates for drawing sets that may have this built in available anywhere that I could try?
I have Paint Shop Pro X4 which I am using to try and manipulate images of postage stamps. I scan the stamp using a film/slide scanner and using the cmyk splitter can produce a good images of the watermark and postmark cancellation, which I save separately. On a lot of the older stamps the plate number, from which the stamp is printed, is engraved into the design of the stamp and quite often this number is obliterated by the black cancellation mark. Is there any way using layers, or any other X4 feature, I can lift the cancellation mark from the image to see what is underneath?
I'm having a heck of a time moving text once I've placed it. I assumed I could just grab the text and move it as long as I'm on that layer. I'm finding this isn't the case. What's the trick to moving text once placed?
What is the best way to manipulate text in Photoshop? Let's say I need to edit an "A" and I want to stretch out the bottom corners of the letter, while not moving the upper portion (wide bottom, skiny top)... what is the best way to do this? I know the "skew" function somewhat moves corners, but I want to take the binding boxes (while in the skew function) and move them individually so it doesn't affect another corner.
I'm sure I'm doing something wrong. I'm on the right layer, selected some text with the rectangle, clicked the move tool & tried to drag the selection (have the little hand showing so I'm in the right corner) but the box just expands the contents. (I tried both move tools, although I've no idea what the difference between them is.
I have used the move tool a little in the past, and it worked.
During text creation, I can resize the text by changing font size, use move it around..Later on if I want to modify the text (resize, move to another location)...I don't know how..
The items are not locked The items are not in groups The layers are all unlocked
I select the item I want to move then try and move the item to the layer above (or below) with the "dot" on the right side of the layers pallete and nothing happens!
I have two enhancements that would really make my day in Photoshop Elements Organizer:
The first would be the ability to move and copy items from one catalog to another. This might entail being able to have more than one catalog open at a time. I could then drag and drop or copy an item from one to another. I have several items in a family picture catalog that more appropriately belong in my genealogy catalog. The only way to rectify this now is to delete from the one catalog and then recreate it in the other. The second would be the capability to stream albums directly to my Smart TV. Windows Media Player can currently do this, but I would have to recreate my albums in Windows Media Player, which seems a waste of time if I have already built albums in the Elements catalog. (There apparently is a way to do this currently using iTunes and an Apple TV device, but I would like to be able to do this directly from Elements). The above two enhancements would be really cool!!
Using CS5.When I try to move any object by selecting and then trying to drag, it won't let me. It allows me to drag while selected maybe half an inch before not moving anymore, and then snaps back to the original position anyway. I CAN move by using transform - move, or selecting and using arrow keys. When I restart my computer everything seems fine, but then it soon gives me this same problem.
Also, when I'm having the object moving issue I also have problems with dropdown menus. For example when printing, I can see the list of printers, but clicking them has no effect. Another example is the Preferences menu box, clicking "Type" or "Units" has no effect.
I think it might be the GPU but i used apple computers with intel hd 4000 and it didnt do that. I have amd hd 7750 with an i5 and 4gb ram. Photoshop doesnt run slow its just the picture going in and out.
A program that prompts:"select objects:" then I can select some objects like as text, line, circle,... after that program find all texts in selected items and swap text
swap means: xxx/yyy ===> yyy/xxx ; "/" is a divisor
When I'm working on a project, I sometimes create bits of artwork that I may or may not want to use in the piece. However, when I move the items off the canvas, they pretty much disappear. Is there any way to store items "off canvas" and have them visible for quick selection?
One option, I guess, is to make the whole Edit preview area the canvas and only crop the item to final size when I'm done, but that seems wonky.
Is there a simple way of cutting a figures or items away from the backgrounds of one or more photos and and merging them into a paint net background image to make it look like the figures belong in the paint net image, not just superimposed or floating on the front of the image. I have been trying to create an image of my grandchildren together in one picture and not just stuck on, also trying to do this with animal images
I have started getting dialog boxes at launch about having duplicate items for Patterns, Textures, Gradients, and Swatches. I am not sure why or what to do about it. Attached is a screen snip of the dialog.
Is there a way to switch between items without closing out an item while in edit? ie: You have two (or more) items open in edit, and you want to cut from one item and paste on another but you don't want to close out the one you just cut on. I tried using the little arrows on top of the edit workspace, thinking these would be the way to switch items, but they don't do anything, at least for me anyway. I tried looking in the user guide but no luck.
I'm trying to select all Text-based items (Text,Mtext and Attribute References) in a drawing to check to see if they match a pattern in a regular expression. Although i have a block with an attribute in the drawing and the selection filter consisting of
I'm working in Ai but this question applies to other Adobe programs.
Is there some way to abrreviate the text menu items ("Stroke", "Opacity", "Character", "Paragraph", "Transform") to "S", "O", "C", "P", and "T", this would save space (working with two windows juxtaposed) and eliminates need to access the drop down menu on the right if working window is smaller.
Perhaps this is too deep for the Preferences to reach... (but maybe it shouldn't be)
I have about forty maps created in DP6. Each of these has numerous pieces of text within it. These include title, map number, descriptive notes, individual letters such as A B C, scales, map symbols etc etc. These are currently all in Arial with some parts being bolded.
My question is:
In any one map can I select all the text within that map and change the character of the font? Ie can I grab all the text and change it from arial to a serif font? Or change all the text to a different colour?
I hope it can be done. I have done a bit of experimenting but have not found a way yet.
All of the sudden I cannot double click on text to edit and I cannot select items before I use a command. If I have selected an object the delete button will not work.
Text is allowed only on the outside of a rectangle shape. The text cursor disappears when I try to enter it into the rectangle and when I place it on the edge of the rectangle, it rurns into a slanted "A" and allows texting on the border of the rectangle. Corel Paint Shop Photo Pro X3 (build date Sept 7, 2010). This software came with my new HP Pavilion dv7.
I have made a drawing but ive noticed the hands on the figure seem to long, how can i make the change by moving hand pixels to where i think looks better.on the drawing,
I am trying to move layers either up or down. I read somewhere to go to the Layers tab and under there should be Move Up or Move Down. When I do there those functions are not present. Could it be because I am using version 3.5.11?
I upgraded from photo pro x3 ultimate to x4 ultimate. However, I have some plugins I use in X3, i.e like KPT Collection, Magic Bullet et cetera. I tried to reinstall my kpt collection, but it shows only in X3 (again) and not in X4.
