Paint.NET :: Making Certain Portions Of Image Glow?
May 16, 2012Making certain portions of an image glow. Because I am the most artistically capable of my peers, I was chosen to make a section T-shirt for my school's band's saxophone section. I have the front done, but to do back. The idea is have a slightly obscured saxophone with the key holes and bell glowing. Thing is, how to do it. I tried messing around with the glow effect in version 3.5.4, but that affects the entire images.

Sep 24, 2012I have used Photoshop for a while and right now I am trying Paint.net, there are a few things that I really do not understand.
1)When I create a font layer and wish to come back to it later on by modifying the font size or font type, I have to delete the layer and then redo type it again which I find totally useless. When you make a menu for a restaurant for example, the last thing you want is to delete the layers and replace them each time. If Paint.net works this way then I cannot see how it is possible to use it on a daily basis.
2)When I wish to crop something, it is impossible to select certain area of the cropping that have been selected by the magic wand. How to remove already selected portions of the magic wand? Sometime it may choose a tiny portion of the picture that you do not want to crop at all.
3)Choosing a layer on click.
This is a huge problem, we have on the right side of the screen a multiple layer dock, in photoshop for example, when you click on the graphical work, the layer is auto selected, in Paint.net I cannot find this "must have" function.
4)Creating a rounded picture without the need to cut the corners to get to a final rounded banner or whatever we are trying to achieve.
How can you create a rounder banner in jpeg for example(no background). At the moment I can only crop a picture from a square canvas and save it as png(foo background transparency), but how to create the same picture in jpeg? The canvas is always square.
Photoshop :: Taking Portions Of One Image To Another Image
Mar 1, 2007When I scan booklets that are printed on white glossy paper with black text, I like to scan it in black and white mode to produce the images as this save me considerable hard drive space. However, if there is a black and white picture of someone or something, I can't scan in black and white anymore, and have to scan in grayscale otherwise the pictures come out horrible. This does cause the image size to balloon considerably.
Is there anyway where I can scan a page that contains a black and white picture in grayscale, cut that picture out, rescan the picture in black and white mode, and then replace the cutout picture from the previous image into the new image?
GIMP :: Moving Selected Area Versus Moving Selection / Moving Whole Image
Mar 22, 2012I want to select part of an image with just one layer. Say I just flattened the image and have to move one part of. I select it with the rectangular select tool. It seems intuitive that I could then just move what I selected, but when I drag the selection, the selection itself moves without moving what is inside the selection.
If I then remember to click the move tool and try to move what's in the selection (seems to work sometimes, maybe when there's multiple layers?) the entire image moves.
The only way I can move part of the image over is if I make a selection and then cut it (ctrl X) then paste it.
How am I supposed to move part of the flattened image, is there a way I can set it to default to "When I select something, I can immediately drag that selected area around."

Sep 16, 2012Every single time I move an image it filters, I have to copy the image to MSPaint and then copy it back to Paint.NET to make sure it isn't filtered, it's so annoying.
Is any way to stop the images from filtering?

Nov 19, 2013I know this is basic I slect one layer for the image . When I use the rectangular selection tool on the layer and go to resize or move the selection with the move resize pixel tool instead of moving or resizing the selected area I get blank rectangle that moves or resizes. The selected area just stays the same.

May 25, 2011I just got a new computer (Windows 7) and I don't like the default "Paint" program that comes with it. I've been using the Windows XP paint program for a long time and Paint.Net was the closest thing I could find to it.
I don't use Paint to edit photos or create super detailed artwork. I use it to draw little things (the image size is usually 50x50 or 100x100 pixels) and zooming in to 400%-800%. I've used paint.net a few times but I was wondering if there was a place in the program that would let me set preferences. It would just save a little time making it more convenient and less frustrating.
These are the things that I would like to change:
1: When moving a selected item it automatically leaves a "checker board" pattern on the image. It's relatively easy to fix with the "Paint Bucket" tool. Though if there was an option to make it only leave the default area white it would be a time saver.
2: When moving a selected item it will automatically replace the image beneath where you place it. In the Windows XP program there was an option to either replace an image or to replace all other colors except white (255green+255red+255green on the custom color spectrum). Is there an option like that in this program?
3: After moving a selected image (using the "rectangle select" tool then the "move selected pixels" tool) is it possible to simply de-select the selected image without having to click on the "rectangle select" tool and right clicking? In other words, being able to move an image, deselect the image, then automatically return the tool to "line" tool?
4: While using the "Line/Curve" tool the 4 click and drag points automatically appear on it to make it "curve-able" so is there a way to just leave it as a solid line without those 4 selectable points appearing?
5: Is there a way that I can make "Line Tool" my default cursor instead of pencil?
Lightroom :: Image Size Changes When Moving Image Between CC
Feb 11, 2014Image size changes when moving an image between Lightroom and CC.
I opened a .dng image in LR and then opened it in the Develop module. I clicked on Crop Overlay and then on the ‘As Shot’ drop down menu (the lock is closed) and cropped to 11 x 17 and clicked ‘Done’-.
I click Cntl-E and the image opens in CC. There I click on Image > Image Size and the Image Size is 13.288 inches by 20.533 inches.
Why does the image size change?
I believe there is a menu to control the size of the image and I've looked everywhere I can think of in LR and CC, I googled various descriptions and I checked two of Scott Kelby's books, but I just can't figure out how to keep the image a consistent size when moving between LR and CC.

May 8, 20121) I open up a large image as background.
2) I add a new layer, then import a smaller image into that layer.
3) I try to select and move the smaller image so that it's positioned where I want it, but despite seeing the "nodes" on the side and corners and trying every possible combination of blue arrow/white arrow/shift etc., all I seem to be able to move across the canvas is the transparent box created by the nodes. In other words, I'm moving the box that contains the image, but apparently not the image itself.
Might this have anything to do with one image being a .pdn and the other being a .png?

Nov 26, 2012I found that Photopaint X6.1 is very unstable when i'm trying to move objects down or up.
Bad news is that its happening after longer period of work like around hour or more, designs with hundred or more objects.
90% of "not responding" errors are caused by moving objects down or up.
With X6 64bit I learned to save files more often than in previous versions.

Win 7 Pro 64bit, Intel i5-2500, 8 GB RAM, 128 SSD SAMSUNG + 2TB on hard drives.

Paint.NET :: Moving Layers Forward / Back?
May 28, 2013The Paint.Net tutorial shows tools to move layers forward or backward. I couldn't find these tools in the layers' drop down menu.

Never mind -- I did find out where these commands were hidden... I'm working on a map, and I'm trying to get latitude and longitude lines to overprint the actual map. As I moved the layer with the lat/longitude lines "forward" they don't appear to overprint the map in the background. Is there some other secret here to get the desired effect?
Photoshop :: Portions Of Type Disappear?
Aug 1, 2012I have just got done revising a business card that I have printed in the past. The Card was created in Photoshop Cs5. The strange issue is now when I attempt to make it into a pdf so I can combine it with the second side I am partially loosing some of the fills in the text. Here is a copy of the psd
Here is what the pdf looks like notice the missing red in vinyl and in the k of tick.This is what the settings are in the save as menu. The other odd thing is it looks ok if you view the pdf in photoshop but if you view it in Acrobat x professional it starts to lose it's fills.

3ds Max :: Missing Portions Of Geometry In Renders
Nov 25, 2011I seem to be having this issue with rendering in Max. I play this game called SimCity 4 and have a special user-built script for 3ds Max that allows exporting models made in Max into the game after a few steps.
The script basically sets up Mental Ray and some camera/light rigs to mimic realistic sunlight. In this image you can see the problem pretty obviously.. In some areas it looks like there is coplanar geometry, and i've double checked to ensure there isn't. Some objects have complete portions of the geometry missing, such as the roof.

Illustrator :: SVG File Missing Portions?
May 9, 2013Basically, I'm using another program (Axograph.X) to export a graph as a .svg file. When I open the graph in illustrator, lart portions of it are missing. I'm not getting any error message; just white space where there should be data points.
The problem isn't with the .svg file itself; the everything is displayed properly when I open the file in Firefox (20.0.1) or Internet Explorer 10.
