It use to be that when I would import a picture that was larger than the current canvas size I was dealing with it, it would ask me if I wanted to enlarge the canvas size or not. Now it just automatically is changing the canvas size and it's driving me nuts because I don't want it to do that!

View 2 Replies View RelatedI used scale image to make a 2.314" x 3" image to print so it'll fit in a frame that I have for that same size. When I print it out the size looks great but it's over on the edge of the 4x6 paper and most of the picture is cut off. I tried, I should use print size and not canvas size but when I change the print size to 4x6 it also changes my canvas size back to 4x6. I still have my original so I can do this again but what I want is a 2.314"x3" image to print out on my 4x6 glossy paper.

The problem is that whenever I add a picture using "Layer -> Import from file" and the imported picture is larger than the canvas the canvas get resized to the size of the imported pictue. View 2 Replies View RelatedI've been using PSP for a long time now (fisrtly PSP7 and now PSP9) and I wanted to buy the new version PSPX4. I downloaded the free-trial version and I saw that it is impossible to generate files bigger than 10'000x10'000 pixels. In the canvas size menu, it's impossible to give a higher number. The problem is that a made bigger files with PSP9 and I'd like to keep on working on it without resizing them.
So my question is : Is it only a limitation of the trial version or is it simply impossible to work with bigger images than 10k x 10k ? I hope there is a simple solution because PSP9 encounters some problems with Win7...
I like Paint.net quite a bit more than Gimp. I do, however, like the Single Window Mode in Gimp, allowing me to tab my windows together, then lock the cluster to the side. It doesn't cover the image, either.

I was just wondering if there is a plug in that would emulate something similar for Paint.net? I can't stand constantly moving my windows around based on the size of my image. It drives me up a wall. Even something to restrict the size of the canvas, so it can't go under the windows would work.

I discovered via a tutorial video making a transparent title in PowerDirector 9 Ultra video editor. The demonstrator used Paint.Net to create a 16:9 ratio canvas... but since installing your program I cannot figure out how to create a canvas to match these 2 video sized canvases.

It's a 10000 x 11299 pixel PNG image. I want to be able to zoom in quite far in order to look at some of the fine details, and make some notes on the image while I go. Unfortunately, as I read elsewhere on this forum, it seems that Paint.NET currently doesn't support a virtual canvas size greater than 32768 x 32768. On this image, that means I get a maximum zoom of 290% before I can't zoom in anymore, which isn't very much. Right now I'm having to use the "Windows Photo Viewer" to actually view and zoom into the image, while making the notes zoomed further out in Paint.NET, which is a bit cumbersome.
I know this is probably non-trivial to fix, but it would be fantastic if you can remove this barrier on the maximum virtual canvas size.
I'm trying out X4, and I don't know if I'm doing something wrong, but it seems like the canvas size on X4 at any resolution is much smaller than in X3, e.g., at 200 pixels/inch, X4 allows 50"x50", while X3 allows 164x164". Similarly at 150 pixels/inch, X3 allows 218", while X4 allows approximately 67". Given the fact that X4 is supposed to provide access to more memory, and uses a scratch pad, this does not make sense to me-

Default canvas size are 800x600 px . I want set it to 500x414 px by default .
I wanted to combine two images one needs to be fit to the scale of the background image. So basically I followed the instructions.
Open up your background layer which was 800x600 landscape photo.
Then I imported my other image which was 600x800 portrait photo too. Layers -Import from file. I resized it then copied into a new layer. That was fine.
The problem is as soon as the new image is imported, the background image changes so that it only takes up half of the canvas. So now I've got a white area for half of the canvas. I can't seem to change this.
I'm trying to design an a4 and a3 poster; and I'm looking for the dimensions to fill in to the canvas sizing tool....

I keep finding the dimensions but I'm confused as to what I am to have the resolution bar/ option set at? I want the posters dpi to be 300 or 400.
Also what size should the file be .mb wise?

When I open this file with Corel, it adjusts my graphics so that it's centered on the screen. The AI file is centered on another point. Also, the canvas Corel creates is A4 sized. I always have to resize the canvas and then manually adjust the position of my graphics.
Question: How can I save an AI file so that when I open it at Corel, the position and size of the canvas will be exactly the same?
I just got CS5.1 at my job. This must be a preference, but when I adjust the Canvas size, it will constrain the image, rather than cropping the canvas. The Anchor in the Canvas Size menu appears outlined (highlighted?) which indicates that this is something in preferences that I can adjust.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI am trying to make a picture fit a headline size of 960 x 150. I have resized the picture to 160 x 152 so the height is good. The object of the picture is on the right and that is where I would like to keep it. What I would like to do is extend the width, to the left, to 960 and fill in that new space with the background color in the picture. Then add the title of my website on the left. I looked at the tutorials but cannot seem to make the tools do the changes I want. how to make my headline.

When I save a picture it goes from 6mb to 700kb. Is this normal or do I need to do something different and does it effect the picture quality when printing?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have two pictures and I try to copy a small part of one picture to the other.I did a rectangular selection of 2 cm square of the first picture and copied it but when I pasted it in the other picture the selection was now 4.68 cm square.Â

I suspect that's because the two pictures have not the same resolution. How can I keep the size of the selection from two pictures of different resolution?
When photographing a tall object from the ground, for example the rectangle of a house wall, the picture perspective will be distorted in the sense that the bottom of the wall will be wider in the picture than the top of the wall.
Say, for example, that the bottom of the house wall in the picture is 1 inch wider than the top of the wall. Is it possible to increase the size of the picture gradually from the bottom to the top, from 0% of 1 inch at the bottom to 100% of 1inch at the top? So the end result in the picture will be an evenly sized wall from bottom to top?
I've just reduced the size of a canvas from 300x300 to 200x200 but when I merge the layers I'm left with a dotted line showing the original size.

Can someone please explain to me about file sizes and image dimensions. I have to put together a collage which is 165mm high by 258mm wide. If I click file new and choose default resolution (72) then the file size is ok, if I type in 300 dpi the image becomes huge.
If i chosse 300 dpi then the images I was going to use seem tiny on such a vast workspace - Im confused why does the canvas become so large when changing resolution?
I have a created a new PSD that is 8 1/2 x 11.The canvas size is the same 8 1/2 x 11.I want to put a border around the picture (say 1/2 of an inch all around), and put the finished picture in a Picture frame. After it is in the frame, you would be able to see the entire picture plus the border. Q. Should I change (reduce image size) of the PSD to (for this example), 8 x 10 1/2.     Then increase the canvas size to 8 1/2 x 11. After I increased the canvas size, do a Paint Bucket fill with white (to create the White border)? then print the changed size PSD on 8 1/2 x 11 paper so that it will fit into a 8 1/2 x 11 picture frame I realize I could have just created the new PSD to be 8 x 10 1/2 in the first place.
