I'm about to start a project where I create a family calendar for 2013. If I get it done in time, it will be what I give out for Christmas presents this year.
I have about 300 images that I want to fill in a grid 4 across and 4 high so that I can get 16 images per month. That won't use all 300 images, but I'll be able to pick the best of the bunch.
Anyway, the image sizes range from 258x235 (WxH) to whopping 5616x3744 (WxH).
If I make each of grid sizes very, very large so that I can fit the largest image, I suspect I'll have problems with RAM and the project will be very slow.
If I make each of the grid sizes very, very small, then every time I try dropping a larger image onto the project, it's going to try stretching the canvas to fit the image or I'll have to struggle with squishing the images smaller.
I have image resizing tools, but they typically do not generate the kind of quality I like from Paint.Net.
Is there a technique so that dropping a file that is too large into a region will shrink the image to fit the canvas ...or magnify an image that is too small?
I downloaded Paint.net to resize pics, images, or logos and to create window stickers. However, I am completely new to it all! After playing with it and using it for a few days, I've done a few things with gradients paintbrush and text.
1)When I am placing graphics AND text on a new creation, for some reason I can only add the text FIRST and not AFTER I add any graphics. (So, if I mess up after getting my graphics on there and realize I need my text moved, I gotta start ALL over!
2) Is there any instruction book on the program out there anywhere??? anywhere??? maybe a Paint.net book for Dummies???
3) How do I resize photo's?? How do I work with layers?
4) WHERE is the align tool? (or align object tool.....whatever it's called) I need a simple way to CENTER text and pics.....
The program has been useful to me from what I have learned by hitting the wrong buttons by mistake (lol) but I'm sure there are MUCH better ways to do things than what I've been doing......
I want to use Autosize on textboxes formatted by an object style. I use the textboxes for continuous numbering, and therefore the number inside will change if a box in the middle is removed. Â I have tried, but somehow the autosize does nok work properly when linked. It does not update automaticly, and nor if I re-apply the object style. I have tried with coloumn break or tab as a divider between numbers, but none of them work.
I just installed Service Pack 2 in my Vista Ultimate 32bit operating system. After the install I opened PS, CS4 and at first every thing looked ok. I then opened an image file, it came up in RAW, I made initial adjustments, and clicked on open image. The image shows in the Navigator window, but there's nothing in the main editing window. It remains blank. If open another window like my browser over PS, and move that window around it leaves a partial image of the browser on top of the image editing window. I had been using Photoshop just prior to installing SP2 and everything was working ok.
When I open a picture in photoshop, the window is not big enough to show it all. When I drag it to my retina monitor on my laptop, it scales down. Why can't adobe figure this stuff out? It used to be that your image would open as large as possible on your monitor, and would show the entire image.
If it was larger than your monitor could display, it would scale it to 66.7% or 25% etc so it would fit. I liked that better than this way - now you just see the top corner of your image and have to drag the window larger to see it.
LR 5.2 was working beautifully, but after shooting a couple videos (.MOV) in addition to normal images (.JPG & .CR2) my LR 5.2 started playing up when I wanted to import the content of my SD card onto my PC.  LR 5.2 (on Win7, 64-bit) stopped displaying ANY images or movies in the import window. It doesn't matter whether the images (+/- movies) are on the SD card (from which I usually directly import), or any folder on my PC that contains images. LR 5.2 however has no problem displaying the images on my PC in the library window (as they have been imported into the catalog before the problem occurred).  I'm now stuck with hundreds of photos on my SD card that I can't seem to be able to import...
I have updated my windows version of PE 9 to 9.03. However, when I want to move a selection from one pic to another, I need to open both, then go to Window-images-float all in window, and check that option. However, even after updating, the first 5 options in window-images are greyed out. How can I get them active?
I have loaded about 10 pictures in the editor of elements 10. I want to save them to an sd card. When I try to do that it tries to save all of my pictures instead.Â
On my zoom toolbar the command 'Fit to window' is faded out and does not function. I have set my window preferences to allow this functio yet it does not work. I want my rulers to fit to the image.
I have been using PSP since it was free shareware so I'm rather familiar with it. I just installed the PSP X4 14.1.05 When I open an image in the "edit" area and have the move tool chosen the image goes to "Fit image to Window" and both "Fit window to image" and "Fit Image and Window to Screen" are grayed out. I have tried the preferences and all else I can think of but can't get the window to fit to the image as it always has so I can be viewing several images at a time and working with them. I did try reinstalling. This is a Vista machine.
So the image in my window is not at a 100% and there is a whole lot of white space, it was fine till I added a new layer then it just downsized. Ive attached a photo of what it looks like.  I want my canvas size to be 36X24'' but the last bit is always just white space, which means my image is less than 36 inches longÂ
I have a document with three layers, nothing fancy. I want to make one of the layers bigger. The docs say use the selection tool (in my case the rectangle tool) to make a selection. They say if you want to resize the selection just grab on of the handles. This works as it should. However I want to resize my layer, which is essentially a square image. I can't see where to do this. The layer properties don't even show the size of my layer. Is there some way to open the layer in another window?
While I was messing with the HSV values in the pallette window I noticed that often some of the values would change from what I'd specified by increments of 1 or 2. I understand that this is a pretty small change but I still found it bothersome that something was keeping me from having complete control over what I wanted the color to be.
Is this intentional? Is this some overlooked bug? Is this common in other digital art programs? Some unavoidable result of whatever is used to calculate the color values? Something I'm missing here?
I've just installed PaintNet.. looks like what I've been wanting to replace MS Paint. I just need to know how to get the Color window back once X'd out. Also Layer and History windows.
This is my first time using this program, and I accidentally closed the 'layers' window that shows the layers and lets you move them around. I can't find where to open it again.
photoshop CS2 stoped displaying the red channel correctly on all images. The red channel displays very muted color.
After deleting all preferences of CS2, cleaning out the Windows registry, and upgrading to CS3 the problem still remains.
In CS3 however, the color shift goes away if I drag the image outside of Photoshop's main window.
I have a screenshot of this, http://www.miats.com/tmp/PhotoshopIssue.jpg
Photoshop states that both of the large images are solid R:255 G:0 B:0. However, after print screening the images and pasting them back into Photoshop, it shows that the one on the left is actually R:201 G:88 B:34.
The same thing happens for green and blue as well, though the difference is much less dramatic.
I don't remember changing any settings and my laptop (Win XP, CS2) does not have this problem when loading the same images.
My computer is running VISTA 32bit with 3GB of ram. The graphics card is a NVIDIA 6800.
I have used PSP since version 2, so have been at it for awhile. Just upgraded to 6, as I was using version 4.
The problem I have is when I am in the edit area, and have a photo on the screen I use my mouse wheel to enlarge or shrink depending on my needs. The old version the windows box around image would also resize with image. I have attached a few images. I normal could fix this in the settings, but for some reason the window will not follow the image size as I enlarge or shrink? It does when I actually resize image, but I need this to do that when I am just using mouse wheel to make bigger or smaller on my screen.
How do I minimize one picture, in order to view two pictures is the same screen?
More details...In my previous version of PSP, when working on a photo, the tab at the top for the photo had the following options: Minimize ( _ ), Maximize ( [ ] ) and Close ( X ), similar to the options found in the upper right corner of most windows.
However, in X5, the picture window/photo tab only has the Close ( X ) option and no Minimize ( _ ) or Maximize ( X ) option. What am I missing or am I just daft?
I found being able to minimize multiple photos in the same window useful when pasting/cloming one image over another.Or, if I have multiple, yet very similar images, determining which is best without having to tab back and forth.
I am not sure how this happened, but using PSPX3, when i need a new layer, the dialogue window is way to the top. The values and all are accessible but when i am doing live presentations or recording tutorials, this is an annoyance. It is so high that i cannot grab the top of the window and pull it down. It is only for that one dialogue window and only for that one PSP version.
I tried resetting the workspace to default, i tried reloading an old workspace, but that one stubborn dialogue window is still there on top.
I tried changing the screen resolution temporarily to see if i could "grab it" to move it back down, but it still is "ungrabbable".
I am trying to model a window pane with old, crackled paint. First I tried to build something myself, using smoke maps and cellular maps, but couldn't get it to look realistic. So now I found a great texture on CG Textures.
But it is a 2D texture and I can't get it to look right on my 3D window pane. I tried using the map on UV, VW and WU projections, I even made three materials, one for each projection, but I keep getting lines in stead of paint cracks. Maybe it's the tiling, but there I also tried low numbers and high numbers.
Do I need to unwrap the UVs (I did see some that use the standard primitives, but my window is an editable poly).
The layer properties window, it opens smack bang on the middle of the image I'm working on. So extremely annoying to always first having to move it off the image, before I can see the effect I'm using. Especially when working with multiple layers. Is there a way to have this window open on the SIDE of the image one is working on? Instead of on top of it, hiding it?
how do i open or drag multiple images onto the same window or blank background in elements 11? was easy in 2.0 as all images were available on same page. where is this option in 11?
