Mudbox :: Using Images With Alpha To Sculpt Details Areas?

What I did was take screen shots of my model and went into photoshop and created the texture in black and white with an alpha. I bring it back into mudbox and into my stencils where I line it up. Then  I select my sculpt brush and it works a little but it is not using the alpha very well. It sculpts the whole area instead of just the details areas.

AutoCAD 2013 :: Blocks Insert At Large Scale In 2014 - Correct Scale In 2012

There must be some variable or variables I'm missing.

Revit :: Large Areas Of Drawing Not Printing?

Jul 30, 2013

My plans are printing fine, but elevations and any 3d view print with the majority of the drawing missing. I'm guessing it has to do with the raster images used on walls for textures, but besides that I'm stumped. I'm trying to print in realistic view, because of the material textures that need to show up.

I've turned on sun lighting, as well as tried various PDF printers, but no change. When I go to the print preview it appears to preview incorrectly. The file is pretty small as the project is just a modest house. Pretty much all the settings are 'right out of the box'.

When I shift back to just 'Hidden line' mode and look at it in print preview it seems to print the drawing fine, but then the titleblock and firm logo dissapear. The actual PDF when printed is fine.

I'm working on revit 2013, in WIndows 7 inside parllels on a macbook pro.

AutoCAD 2010 :: Publish To DWF Results In Large Black Areas

When I publish the multiple drawings to DWF the 2nd viewport with the profile in it is completely black, but when I plot to DWF a single layout, it works fine which I don't understand. Surely the publish command publishes to DWF with the same settings as when you do a single plot to DWF, no?.

I have attached an example of the publish result.

Maya Modeling :: Cover Large Areas With Grass And Vegetables

Feb 8, 2013

I have a scene showing a wide plain heading towards low mountains. The perspective is such that the mountains appear to be about 1/2 a mile away, across a basic southwest desert plain covered by dry-looking yellow grass, sagebrush, some cactus, etc.

My problem is how best to cover the plain with grass so that it's covered well enough to look realistic. Paint Effects works beautifully, and eventually I'll place clumps and varieties throughout, but covering such a large area by painting short grass all over is time consuming. All I've seen by searching online suggests using Paint Effects to paint in grass, which works, but it's extremely time consuming. If the only way is to spray a little bit then convert it to polygons, watch the coverage drop due to the polygon count, then repeat the process...something tells me this can't be the most efficient way.

How to more quickly cover a large area with decent looking grass. I suspect a nice combination of the right surface texture underneath Paint Effects might do the trick,.

I've been trying to calculate large areas using fills but I keep encountering a problem with some of the hatches not showing an area and thus ruining my calculation. I've found out that I can correct it by removing certain crossing point between lines as is shown below in my screenshots. Is there any reason this is causing a particular problem and can I avoid it to save me having to go back over my hatches checking for these malformed hatches?

CorelDRAW X5 :: Can't Export Large PDF Or JPEG At 100% Scale At 150dpi

May 29, 2012

I am trying to send a file to a printer for a banner for a client. They only accept a pdf or jpeg at 100% scale at minimum 150dpi resolution.

I banner is over 12 metres long (12,935mm X 1100mm) and only contains vector items.

I am using corel draw x5 and have installed service pack 3. And it won't let me do either.

The largest jpeg corel will let me export at 150 dpi is 5080mm long. Any way to export larger jpeg?

When i export to pdf the resulting pdf is just blank! When I import the pdf back into corel, it imports back into corel perfectly and there doesn't seem to any issues (even tho the pdf is blank). however when I sent the file to the printer, they said it was blank as well. I read some forums that said pdfs have a limit of around 5metres, which explains the pdf issue. Even though the printer told they print pdfs larger than 5 metres all the time.

Maya :: How To Create Large Scale Depth Map Image

Nov 27, 2011

I'm having a problem with Fcheck that no one seems to be able to solve - every time I import a large image it resizes it automatically to a fraction of its size. Notice in the image attached below that my image is 10000 x 10000 pixels but it imports and resizes to 25% of this original size.

According to the Autodesk Maya Online Help there is a command that will "Display images in full resolution preventing automatic rescaling of large images." ...that command is -F

My question to you is how and where do I enter that command? I'm using maya 2011 on Mac

Basically I just need to create a large scale depth map image...

AutoCAD Architecture :: Large Symbol At Smaller Scale Drawing?

My RCP at 1/8" scale looks okay. Yet in my 1"=10'0" POT plan,

I would like these exit lights/signages to appear double in size when printed,

(since POT is merely a schematic)

From 1/8" scale to 10' scale (96 to 120), the symbols by logic should appear

80% smaller, not larger.

Can this be done with annotative block?

Revit :: Approach For Large Scale Housing Masterplan Model

Nov 11, 2013

We're putting together a large scale (2000+) development of various housing types. These are modular units, and there is a lot of repetition (obviously). In all there are probably 6 main types, each of which has mirrored alternatives. Whilst the houses are identical, the individual plots do vary to respond to topography and the infrastrucural layout.

What is the best way of organising this in Revit ?Ideally we would like to schedule the types, walls, roofs as well as the ground works for each. I am not sure what the best approach to this will be.

Initially I had tried setting up a few house types as 'groups' then using individual building pads for each plot - this does not lend itself to scheduling overall numbers though.

I had also thought about modelling the house types as a separate file, and linking them into the masterplan, duplicating as necessary (not sure how this will work re. mirroring though). The level of detail needed in the masterplan isn't as detailed, so long as the external / internal plan is visually correct (annotations and drawings for individual houses can be kept in the relevant house type Revit file).

I'm still not sure that the linked model approach will allow scheduling though ?

We would really want to schedule the numbers of overall house types, as well as totals for materials (although that could be extrapolated from number of plots * materials for each type).I'm also concerned over file size and performance. 2000+ houses in the single model is likely to be a pretty big hit.

Illustrator :: Line Appears When Applying Drop Shadow On Large Scale?

Some weeks ago I had to make a large scale graphic (800mmx2000mm) for a roll-up banner. I wanted to apply a drop shadow to a rounded shape, and ugly lines came up. Since it was a bit urgent, I decided not to use it.

But now I'm curious, so I quickly made an ellipse and added a shadow, so you know what I mean. This also happens when I save it as pdf or image.

Perhaps someday I will have to use a drop shadow on large scale. So, what could I do in case I need to use this effect in these conditions? I use Illustrator CS6 in Mac with Mavericks.

My first plan was to draw round the island with a black paint brush and then use the "bucket fill" with a suitable threshold to fill all of the areas up to the black outline with black, however this doesn't work as the bucket fill either breaks through the black line or when I reduce the threshold, doesn't color the water areas solidly.

AutoCAD 2013 :: Scale Command Message - Extremely Small Scale Factor Ignored

Apr 13, 2012

I have just updated to Autocad 2013. While working on existing drawings (previously created in V2012), I am having issues with the SCALE command.  Most times, but not always, when I add a line or block, with a base point on an existing line or object and try to scale it, I get an "extremely small scale factor ignored" message, although I did not get a chance to enter a scale factor.  While it appears most times, but not always, if I draw a new line in empty space on that same drawing, I am able to use the SCALE command without problems.  I also have the same issue when trying to scale an existing line or block, most times but not always.

Here is a copy of the command line while I am trying to make it work:

Command: l
LINE
Specify first point:
Specify next point or [Undo]: 100
Specify next point or [Undo]:

Command: sc
SCALE
Select objects: 1 found
Select objects:
Specify base point:
Specify scale factor or [Copy/Reference]:
Extremely small scale factor ignored.

Command:
SCALE
Select objects: Specify opposite corner: 1 found
Select objects: Specify opposite corner: 1 found, 2 total
Select objects:
Specify base point:
Specify scale factor or [Copy/Reference]:
Extremely small scale factor ignored.

If you notice, it does not give me the chance to enter a scale factor.  As soon as I pick the base point, it skips over to the error message, yet displays the scale factor prompt with a blank factor.  I'm experiencing this issue on various files (not all but most), so I don't think it is a corrupt file. Why I get this and if I can correct it?

Revit :: How To Assign Desired Scale Of Plan On One Sheet Without Affecting The Scale On Other Sheets

The long building had to be broken to be put on several different "Sheets", and each of the floor plans on each of the sheet has a scale.

Is there a way to assign the desired scale of the plan on one sheet without affecting the scale on the other sheets and on the original drawing view?

AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Label Styles Annotation Scale Versus Viewport Scale?

Jun 26, 2009

am in the process of setting up a standard file for all designers to use our local office. This file will have most of the styles created for profiles, alignments, surfaces, profile views, etc... as mostly specified by the customer and industry standards.

I am having trouble maintaining the correct annotation scale in the viewport in paperspace and when plotting.

The attached word document has 3 figures. Fig 1 shows the correct viewport scale and correct annotation scale. Fig 2 shows how the annotation scale abruptly changes during the plotting process. This abrupt annotation scale change sometimes happens during the regen process or when I switch from layout to model space and back to layout. The annotation scale goes from 1:1 to 1:40 just as in the viewport. This change in annotation scale is not supposed to happen because I want to preserve a certain plotting height for my text versus a viewport scale by using various annotation scales.

I have researched the procedures for annotation scale and have not found any info related to this "abrupt change in annotation scale".

Curiously , this abrupt change in annotation scale does not happen if the text does not belong to any styles within Civil 3D. Stand alone text stays at the correct annotation scale and is not affected in the same way.

AutoCAD 2010 :: Scale On Printed PDF File Not Matching The Plotted Scale?

Jun 27, 2012

We have recently noticed that after printing a PDF of a drawing I plotted from AutoCAD we are coming up with differences when we double check the scale on the printed hardcopy using a carpenter ruler.

For example, there is a dimension labeled on the drawing of 200 ft.  However, if I try to scale this out with a carpenter's ruler at the drawing was set to (say for instance it is 1 inch = 100 ft) I am coming up short of the  2 inches it should be (typically come up around an 1-15/16" or around 194 feet, approx 97% of the correct amount).

In the Page Setup Manager in AutoCAD, I have the following options selected (see the print screen as well):

Printer/plotter selected: DWG to PDF.pc3

Paper Size:  ANSI full bleed B (11.00 x 17.00 Inches)

What to Plot:  Layout

I don't have a plot scale scale other than the default 1" = 1'

No plot style selected

Then, on the print menu when I open the PDF that I have exported from AutoCAD, I have the following settings (see the print screens I have attached):

Printer:  The printer I use (Konica Minolta c650 Series PCL)

And I have selected the Options "Auto Rotate and Center" and "Choose paper source by PDF page size**"

** Note, that I have tried unselecting the "Choose paper source by PDF page size" option and accordingly changed the paper size in the "Page Setup..." button at the btoom to match the document size (i.e. 11.0 x 17.0in) and it gets the difference to be closer (i.e. I now get 198 ft but some of my border gets cut off).  See the print screen below for this a print screen of the print menu and sub-menu of Page Setup showing the paper size selected.

I saw that some people in other forums state that there is no real solution when trying to scale off of PDF's and that there should be a disclaimer saying as much if you are to send the file out to a customer who may rely on doing some in the field scaling from the printed copy of the PDF file.  I find it hard to believe there is no solution as we have received some drawings from others whom the scaling works just fine.

AutoCAD 2013 :: Scale Of Drawing Field Versus Scale Of Object

Jun 27, 2013

When I open a new drawing in my AutoCAD 2013 that I just recently installed last week, I encounter a problem that I am not familiar with from previus versions of AutoCAD I have worked on.  First of all, the units default to decimal, and I want them to default to architectural, with feet and inches.  I have to type UNITS in the command line every time I open a new drawing in order to adjust this.  I have AutoCAD for Architecture 2012 on another computer, and the program automatically defaults to architectural units upon opening up.  Just to let you know, the program I am having this difficulty  with is part of a package called Autodesk Building Design Suite 2013.  I was under the impression that it included AutoCAd for Architecture, but I think it has only standard AutoCAD.

The scale of the objects I draw vs. the scale of the drawing field is very out of proportion.  What I mean is, when I open a new drawing and draw a 30' -0" line, the line appears so long on the screen that I cannot see the whole object, even if I zoom out to the maximum.  I should be able to see the object in it's entirety.  In fact, when I draw a line that is only 12" long, even when the zoom is all the way out, the line looks huge in length.  I have tried adjusting the units to the architectural/inches setting of course, and I have tried adjusting the scale in model space from 1:1 to 1/4'=1'-0", but nothing is working.
