View 2 Replies View RelatedSince older versions of CorelDRAW that I have set the recovery time for Auto-Backup saving time as 3 minutes only, in order to reduce the partial loss of job, when the program crashes.I'm doing a series of small illustrations vectorized (yes, hundreds of them!) and I intend to reduce this time for just 1 (one) minute!This time decreased in 2 minutes (from 3 to 1) can make a difference, because some of these vectors are made fast, and unless those two minutes, I may lose some illustrations if freezing or any other irregular behavior of the software and/or Operating System, though these illustrations are subdivided into several files (simple vectors) and do not consume a lot of RAM.
Reducing the time of Auto-Backup for just 1 min is a risk, or how it can affect the performance of the software or OS? Or one thing does not interfere to another? [URL]
I have windows 7 and photo shop 10. I was wondering if when I do a back up in increments to I make a new destination folder every time?
I also wonder, is it suppose to take so long?
I'm trying to change "capture time" of multiple photos to a specific time.
I know that there is "Edit Capture Time" feature under Metadata. But when I try to edit multiple photos, it says that "Modify the capture time stored in the selected photos by entering the correct time adjustment for the photo displayed to the left. Other photos (but not vidieos) will be adjusted by the same amount of time". And it really does.
For example,
If A file's capture time is 1/11/2011
B file's capture time is 1/11/2012
C file's capture time is 1/11/2013
I would like to change their capture time to 1/11/2014. All the three files.
But the current "Edit Capture Time" feature of Lightroom just adds three years to each file like this:
A file's capture time -> 1/11/2014
B file -> 1/11/2015
C file -> 1/11/2016
So their capture times remain as different ones. And this is not I want...
I've googled a lot and tried several programs other than lightroom as well, but the "Capture time" recognized by lightroom could not be changed by other programs.
I am updating capture time based on GPS Time (a bit OCD, I know) but when I change Capture Time the Date Time Digitized value does not change. This in in LR 4.3 and is not affected by whether on not the Catalog is set to 'Write date or time changes into proprietary raw files'.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI have been trying to figure out if I can make capture time changes to adjust for time zone errors or the daylight saving time mistakes where the capture time in the Metadata panel is off by 1 hour or so, and then have these adjustments saved permanently to the original files (master photos). This works for JPEG files and it also works for DNG files (after converting from CR2 to DNG). But it doesn't seem to work for CR2 files directly. If I used the "Save Metadata to file" option from the Metadata menu I might just get sidecar XMP files.
Then I found this option "write date or time changes into proprietary raw files" in the Catalog Settings. This seems about right. But what does it do? I tried enabling that, created a new catalog and then imported some new CR2 files. I then changed the captured time and tried the Save Metadata to file option. It still spits out these sidecar files. It doesn't actually write this to the CR2 files.
Or does it? Perhaps I am not seeing it in Windows Explorer? Like IPTC vs. EXIF? I'm not sure Windows reads both. These are like different types or sections of metadata information about a file. So I just wonder what the benefit or consequence is of having this option enabled? Whatever it is, it is not very apparent. And as you can see from the screenshots above the capture time has not changed (not been saved) when you look at the file in Windows Explorer. Any changes are held in the XMP sidecar. Even thou I have enabled this EXIF option in Catalog Settings.
I want to add a watermark to a photo which encompasses a progress time or finish time of a sports event. For example, if an event starts at 7.00 am, photos taken at 8.05 am, in the watermark I want to display 1:05 hr (or 65 mins).
View 1 Replies View RelatedWhen i back-up the catalogue, i assumed the backup would be mede of al the tags added to photo's. When i check the catalogue-files, i see a whole lot of jpg-files. My actual photo-collection contains jpg-, raw an avi-files.
I have a habit of making a copy of all my photofiles, but now it seems double
Question: Does de backup-function of photoshop elements 11 actually make a backup of tags and photo's?
I uninstalled Lightroom, because it was too slow on my computer. It put a lot of library files and directories in My pictures folder.
When I use a backup program (SyncbackSE) to backup my pictures, it starts to scan all the Lightroom library files and it takes forever (hours and counting). Even though Windows cannot find the directories (with hidden and system files shown). I want to completely delete the Lightroom directories, because now I can't backup my images anymore. It is a pain in the dark places.
I am having an issue with Adobe products on my Mac. When I try to auto export )or save as in LR, the popup screen opens and then closes right away without me being able to update anything. I have also experienced this with the PS application. I am currently unable to export my catalog as a result.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a Canon S100 and just started importing photos and video into my LR 4.3 catalog. I convert RAW to DNG, and the Capture Time on the photos in LR is correct. However, the video Capture Time is shifted forward exactly 8 hours. I know how to correct the video Capture Time, but is there anything I can do to stop this from happening in the first place? I looked at what the metadata looks like in Bridge.
PHOTO:
Date Created = Correct Capture Time
Date File Modified = The time I imported the file into LR.
VIDEO:
Date Created = Capture Time + 8 hours
Date File Modified = Correct Capture Time
If LR4 backup does not backup the actual photos,and the work done in LR4, how do you back up the photos? Is online backup of the PC the only way? I do a backup each time I exit LR but if the adjustments are not backed up that is not good.
View 2 Replies View RelatedMy LR4 backups took forever (130,000+ images) on a 3-year old iMac (2.93 Gig i7 Intel w/ 8 Gig RAM and OS 10.8.4), but it DID complete the backup procedure. Unchecking Optimization and Integrity Check sped up the backups considerably. Upgraded to LR5 and not backups WILL NOT COMPLETE, regardless of what is checked off or not. Longest time I've waited so far is 30 hours.
Backups have been tried to internal Mac HD, an external 2 Gig, an external 1 Gig, and a 10 Gig Drobo array. ALL fail to complete.
I have not been able to restore my catalog(s) using the Backups. My computer crashed and will not start up. So I am thinking, whew – good thing my original image files and backups are stored on a separate (and unaffected) hard drive (plus 2 additional backups of all of this). Until I tried to restore my catalog from the backups.
I am contemplating what to do with the crashed computer, I decide to check the Lightroom backups just to ensure that work fine.
.If I try to open the backup catalogs on my laptop (a separate computer from the one that crashed) without moving them from their current location/ folders (in backup folders on the hard drives) I get an error message that says the catalog file is not writable (due to incorrect permissions or because another Lightroom application is using the catalog).
If I move the catalog backup to the laptop (to a folder location that has unrelated functioning catalogs), I get a message that says the folder cannot be found. I have tried to restore 3 separate LR3 catalogs. I have not attempted to restore the LR4 catalogs yet.
Upon exiting (shutting down) Lightroom 5, we're given a choice to backup the catalog. Is there a way to manually backup it up (without exiting Lightroom 5?
View 2 Replies View RelatedIs my image backup plan fundamentally flawed? My lightroom catalogue refers almost exclusively to RAW files, but for each file, once I've done the required edits, I "export as DNG" to make a backup which has the edits embeded in. I prefer to use RAW files as the main file but I save the backup as DNG just to save a bit of space)
However, if I replace a folder of RAW files myphoto1.CR2, myphoto2.CR2 with a folder of DNG the equivalents myphoto1.dng, myphoto2.dng then not surprisingly Lightroom shows the files are missing. (At this point all I'm doing is simulating a backup recovery). I can "find missing folder" easily enough and the ? disappears from the folder list, but the individual images in the library are still missing. Again this is not really surprising because although the file names are the same as those referenced in the library the extension is DNG rather than RAW.
Now the surprising part (for me anyway).....I can "find missing file" by pointing to the replacement DNG and it warns me that the file name is not the same (because the extension is different) and asks if I want to link them anyway. I say yes and once again the image file is linked to the image reference in the library. So far so good, BUT, despite ticking the box which is meant to link neighbouring files, only the one image is linked.
Clearly if I do face disaster and need to use my backup DNGs then I can't go individually linking each and every image. Is there a quicker way, or is my backup plan fundamentally flawed?
I am very new to Lightroom I am wondering how I would go about backing up my library when I used Apple Aperture It would have a file called " Aperture Library " and I would just copy that over to my external hard drive every month. How would I do this in Lightroom ?
View 3 Replies View RelatedThe LR 4.4 catalog backup fails when exiting the application. I have set my catalog backup location on a NAS hard-drive (connected via Gigabit ethernet), which has sufficient empty space and correct network permissions. An empty backup folder is created, however no catalog file is copied into it. After the backup starts and checks integrity and starts the backup, a second dialog box pops up that says do you want to back up. The first dialog box is open with the progress bar about halfway complete, but can't be made active. If I start another backup, it runs part way and says can't complete as the same as the others report.
This is strange, since in earlier versions of LR 4 (and even in LR3) I had none of these problems.
I am running Mac OSX 10.8.4 with 2GB of RAM.
What viewing and/or editing capability will exist if the Lightroom catalog (not the full image files but only the previews) are exported and installed on a laptop? I would like to vuew the images while traveling and do minor editing but the complete image files are too extensive to transfer to the laptop. The comntempated procedure is to export as a catalog with neagtive files unchecked but available previews checked.

The most important for me to keep are the Smart Collections, Keyword list and Export settings (to Flickr).
