Apr 1, 2012Im having real trouble navigating through my images whilst in book mode as when I use the cursers as per usual I advance through albuum pages, not images.

Nov 13, 2013I prepared a rough draft of a book and saved it with the tab on the right hand top of the main screen. Unfortunately, I saved it with the option of only saving the used images from the original collection. Later I brought up the draft book and tried to add some additional images, but see that only the images already used in the book are available on the image strip at the bottom. I need to get other images which are in the original collection. Is there any way to do this? If not, is there a way to save the entire format of the book and then start over with the same format but with the original full collection as the source of images in the bottom strip?

The problem is that when I did this only my currently selected images in the film strip were included in the book collection (files starred 2 and above) and I cant work out how to make all f the files in my route folder (unstarred, etc) appear in the collection.
I had been building the book from a folder on my E drive, not a collection.
Lightroom :: Adding New Images To Saved Book?
Mar 31, 2012I started a book the other day, knowing that it was going to be an ongoing project. When I was done working on it, I created the saved book and named it. I have no problems openning up the book from the collections. My issue is now that I saved it, it only shows the images that I used for the book in the film strip.
When I select "ALL PHOTOGRAPHS" in the filmstrip window (while still in my previously saved book), it opens a new unsaved book.
How do I keep my saved book open and get the rest of the images in my library in the filmstrip?

Nov 19, 2013I have made a book within Lightroom 5 and saved it. Now gone back into it days later after needing to make an error change and now decided I want to add more images to it but from a different images folder but its not allowing me. I have tried dropping and dragging from the folder in library to the folder named within books but it just shows a circle symbol and doesn't work. I have tried to add through file and import but doesn't work, it just adds new pictures to my library but not to the book of images. I have tried adding through adding new category but same.

Feb 25, 2014I am in the process of making a photobook using Lightroom and discovered when I reached page 240 that I couldn't add any additional pages, much to my surprise. I was surprised because I knew from Blurb's website that the limit for standard paper is 440 pages and mistakenly assumed that this limit would also apply within Lightroom. I did more research online and found many others being surprised by this limitation after spending hours and days on a photo book. I will likely work around this by exporting from Lightroom to .jpg and uploading to Blurb, but that will take extra time and effort and reduces the appeal of using Lightroom to create a Blurb book. I had also tried exporting from Lightroom to .pdf only to find that the .pdf format exported by Lightroom is not compatible with the requirements of Blurb.

Aug 15, 2012What are the restrictions on rearraging images in Survey mode? I could not figure out why it would sometines work and sometimes doesn't.
For example, I have a main top directory 2012 and in it a folder for each month. If I am in GRID view at the 2012 level and choose images in Survey mode, I cannot rearrange them. But I am in GRID view in one of the subfolders, then I can.
Is this normal? Am I doing anything wrong?

Oct 29, 2012I am trying to up load a 40 page 12" x 12" photo book to Blurb from the book module in Lightroom 4.2. It renders the pages and then having rendered the cover gets stuck, about 50% to 60% through the process. None of the photographs are starred or colour coded. I have uploaded successfully from this iMac in the last few weeks.

The tree view shows first image of the folder, but the library preview does not open.- Probllem is persistant and any new images after 3 weeks are not showing up.- problem is resistant, we upgraded from 5.0 to 5.3, but problem is consistant.
System specs: Generic computer, 8gb memory, windows 7 ultimate 64bits.c: (SSD) houses lightroom, windows & catalogue files.d: houses inport with Picasa files.p: Container of accepted and to be edited image f
General process of images: Import with picasa of images, verification of image quality and rejecting failures.After all images are done, use of syncredibles program to copy new files not yet on the picasa library folder. This basicly checks and moves pictures that are currently on drive D: but are not yet on drive P. After new files are transferred, then picasa will re-import with add function on import from its own folders.

We have tried to study this problem, and first we notised that folders that houses images on both driwes, started to receve "read only" atrribute. Even tho we cleared this with user restrictions (folder security) the imported images still refuse to load the previews.Catalogue contains over 30 000 raw images.
We are starting to shoot blanks here. In short, the tree view shows first image of the folder, images are present in the system, but when you click the tree view to open up the folder, no images will refresh to center view of the screen. If pressed couple of times screen will go white, and crash LR.We have tried to "find missing files" and "folder synchronication.

Feb 14, 2014I purchased Lightroom 5 and am creating a photo book through Blurb. I accidently erased 38 pages, so after I re-created them, I clicked on Create Saved Book, which put it in Collections. Now I am trying to work on the book again, and can open it, but when I go to the Library of photos, Lightroom automatically repopulates a new book with all the photos in that file and won't let me put them in the book I saved. How can I get this partially finished book so that I can use it?

May 21, 2013I've recently received a small batch of calendars from a local commercial printers. The colours are OK, but do not match the originals, especially the blue's. I've had similar problems with greetings cards from a different printer. The problem appears to be that I supply the original files in the RGB color space, but they print using CMYK.
I Raw process using Lightroom 4, with adjustments if necessary being made using Elements 10. To the best of my knowledge neither of these programs have the option of editing or saving in the CMYK color space. For more accurate colours is my only option to purchase the full version of Photoshop (CS6 or CC), then convert and colour correct my images in CMYK mode before sending to the printers ?.
Lightroom :: Watermarks Disappear On Images In Portrait Mode Larger Than 3118 Pixels
May 22, 2012I have tested this in both LR4 and 4.1RC2. 3.x versions and below I never seemed to have a problem. Using Windows 7 x64 SP1.If I have an export preset that adds a text watermark, it works fine in any image that is either already smaller than, or gets resized to 3118 pixels in height. If I tell it to resize to 3119 pixels, then the watermark is never added.
I usually crop all my images to 8x10 ratio. And then dont resize them at all, so they stay at their maximum resolution.The watermark is simply a TTF Font, set to show up proportionally in the lower right corner.

Mar 17, 2012This may be related to other imported catalog bugs, but does not seem to be quite the same. In Lightroom 4, with an upgraded Lightroom 3 catalog:
1. Select a photo in Library mode.
2. Click on Develop to go to Develop mode
Screen shows "No photo selected". I cannot edit photos in Develop mode.
I can see and edit photos that are found in smart collections, but not photos that are simply in my collections from 2012, 2011, etc. folders

Let me be specific what I am refering to : I open folder 9 year old baseball which has 150 photos in it. I open jpeg 122 in photoshop and make my modifications and then save it. NOW, I have to go back into photoshop, open the folder again, either scrool down with the slider bar or by using the arrows to get to jpeg 123 to begin the next modification. This process becomes a pain and takes alot of time. Is there a way to avoid going back to the folder and using the vertical slide bar or arrows, maybe theres a way to use a keyboard shortcut to advance from jpeg 122 to jpeg 123?

Jan 23, 2012I want to make colouring book pictures for my students from photographs of themselves (want to see kids get excited about something - give them a picture of themselves to colour in). Right now I am using the cartoon filter, desaturating the image and then painstakingly selecting by colour, each greyscaled set of pixels and then cutting them so that in effect, the image becomes a traced black and white image. I am wondering if there is an easier way to do this - I have tried using the threshold and levels filters - but I find that it makes the image too pop-arty, like those Che Guevara type T-shirt graphics. Ideally I want to literally make the image look like colouring book picture or a stamp. Is there an easier way to do that without having to pick and delete the greyscaled parts of the image?
