View 3 RepliesThis page [URL] has an example of a 3D book that I would like to know how to make on GIMP or through some other means starting from a square 1D cover.
I would also like to know how to make a good CD image from a square book cover:
This isn't a great example because it doesn't show image transfer to CD without distortion: [URL]
New to GIMP! How to make an image ready for like a bucket or fill function. I am making a coloring book app so, I needed to make my images transparent PNG's so that the fill and drawing function are usable on them. I have made it transparent and added an alpha channel so I am able to draw on it, but fill it not so much.

So, I want to know how I could "bend" the image so that it lays on the curved page of the book properly, appearing as if it is part of the page itself.
how do I make the layers of the image follow the contours of the book background to make it look more realistic like it is text in the book? I have an open book background and I want all my layers in the xcf file follow the curves of the book, how do I do that?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI want to make colouring book pictures for my students from photographs of themselves (want to see kids get excited about something - give them a picture of themselves to colour in). Right now I am using the cartoon filter, desaturating the image and then painstakingly selecting by colour, each greyscaled set of pixels and then cutting them so that in effect, the image becomes a traced black and white image. I am wondering if there is an easier way to do this - I have tried using the threshold and levels filters - but I find that it makes the image too pop-arty, like those Che Guevara type T-shirt graphics. Ideally I want to literally make the image look like colouring book picture or a stamp. Is there an easier way to do that without having to pick and delete the greyscaled parts of the image?

how can I make my images HD (high definition) in Gimp? like there are HD TVs I want to make my images have an HD look to it. I know it is possible to convert SD to HD because I've seen old sports games that were played before HD TVs were invented and the game was converted into HD. although it is not the same as if it was originally recorded in HD
whether the image looks like a SD to HD conversion or looks pure HD, it doesn't really matter to me...
how to I make my images look HD?
I have repetitive actions i need to make on images they all constant for example i have :
100 images with size 100X100. what i need to do on each one :
1. scale to 75x75
2. export as png ( with the same name )
3. close the original without saving
I have one picture of my office building and one picture of an airplane . I want to make the airplane fly and crash into the building and explode. If it's possible to make it in GIMP, how can i do it?
More importantly - how is this technique called? jpg animation? I'm new to graphic editing and don't even know how to name certain things or techniques, so i need some keywords for further research.
I'm also have adobe premiere elements, would this application be useful in creating such projects from pure jpg images?
I've downloaded some texture maps of Earth and Mars that consist of a number of JPG images that are all 1024 pixels square. What I want to do, and I've tried and failed so far, is to combine the separate images to make one big map of the planet surfaces. I assume this will be possible by tiling the images.
I've had a google around but can't find any tutorials related to combining sections of a map together.
I am making an image smaller (from 1200 pixels wide to 700), and no matter what I try it always turns out pixelated. I hate it! I just want the size of the image to get smaller without compromising the quality of said image. Here's what I've tried:
- Saving to different formats before resizing (TIF, PNG, etc)
- Changing the X and Y resolution from 150, to 300, even 900 before resizing. It seems to have no effect.
- Changing the interpolation from cubic to the others (the others ones all look worse)
I am at a loss! I am using "image/scale image" to resize, by the way. And the original image was a 1200-wide TIF. I don't see why I'm not able to increase the number of pixels while making the image smaller to maintain the integrity of the original image.
I want to join 2 images together to make a bigger image, the easiest way to explain it is, say 1 image is 10cm x 5cm and the other is 18cm X 7cm and I want to put both together to make a new image 14cm X 10cm. They need resizing too.
Image A
Image B
Join (NOT merge) them like this;
A
B
Is there a way to make the color select tool not only select a specific color but related shades as well. I have a graphic that is mainly shades of gray but with black outlines and divisions as well as other colors mixed in. I want to shift all the shades of gray to shades of dark yellow without have to select each shade individually.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI want to make a basic color filter over my image that, for instance, filters out every color that isn't red. so everything that was red would show up as normal and everything that was blue or green would show up as black.
How do I do that in gimp?
Is there a tool I can use to gradually make a color lighter? The dodge/burn tool only makes it one shade lighter for the color that is highlighted by the cursor.
So lets say I start with a dark purple I need something that will decrease the shade as I move my mouse, kinda like the smudge thingy...
I am trying to color a sketch I made and have thus far (successfully??) created a white background, an ink layer and a color layer. They are in multiply mode. The file I am working with is not GIF or JPEG, it's XCF.
Color is set to 100%, mode is normal. And yes, the image mode IS set to RGB.
I had selected a small color palette and filled an ellipse shape with it. Fine so far. I wanted to make another ellipse within this one and make it a different color. This did not work. I don't know how many options I tried, incl. exiting the program and starting again, to no avail. Somehow (how this worked) ONE additional color worked (very similar to the first). But no black, for example, no green, nothing.
Yesterday I finished a picture (my first attempt using GIMP or any software, at least for art) and I was super happy with the result. It's not working.
1. I am making a .gif with 57 images [black silhouette] with a white background. Is there any way I can remove the background from all of the images at once (like a batch tool) rather than going through each one of them?
2. If I make a change to one image i.e. crop an image and resize it, is there a way to effect that change to all of the images Vs going through each one?
I have three different pictures in separate files, and I want to overlay them as red, green and blue channels in a new file. (the images represent the different color channels obtained from fluorescence microscopy, and I just want them back in one picture).
I guess it´s pretty easy, but I don´t manage to get all 3 pictures into 1 as 3 separate channels.
as you can see I was able to make the background transparent by 'select by color' + 'add alpha channel' + 'remove selected area' but I also need to remove the white behind the 50% opaque reddish orange flames as well, i cannot select the white by 'select by color' or 'magic wand select' or any of the selection tools because of the issues of the white / reddish orange mix of opacity, so I need removing this white behind the part opacity color.
View 6 Replies View RelatedHow to use a photo behind cut out text and everything was going fine until I tried to add text and change the color. The text is invisible even though I changed the color to white and the box resized itself really small and I can't see anything even though I set it to 150 px.
Try to unchecking the 'dynamic text' button but I don't see this button anywhere in my text tab.
I have never been able to successfully use GIMP for anything because of this problem with adding text. I have had 2 versions, Windows and Linux. Right now I am using it with Pangolin.
In MS Paint when i select part of image with Polygon tool, this part is auto filled with background color. In GIMP i have to use first Selection tool (Free Select) and than switch to Bucket Fill for filling selected area with color. How to make auto filling selected area with color in GIMP as it in MS Paint ?
View 7 Replies View RelatedI have done a little work and created these images. The blur does not look completely right to me because I just used the free select tool and would copy the coin part of the picture out and paste it back on with a different layer and line it up as well as I could. I would really like to make it look a lot better with no blurred part of the coin in the back ground. I would also like to turn the background of the image B&W and leave the coin in color.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI prepared a rough draft of a book and saved it with the tab on the right hand top of the main screen. Unfortunately, I saved it with the option of only saving the used images from the original collection. Later I brought up the draft book and tried to add some additional images, but see that only the images already used in the book are available on the image strip at the bottom. I need to get other images which are in the original collection. Is there any way to do this? If not, is there a way to save the entire format of the book and then start over with the same format but with the original full collection as the source of images in the bottom strip?
