For some reason Library has disappeared from the top of screen so I must go to window to change from develope to library. I want library back to eliminate this step. I have tried updating and it did not bring it back.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI've noticed in the past couple of days that I will be refining an image in the develop module, feel I've gotten it the way I want it to look, and then switch back to the library module to export. When I do so, I notice the colors are quite different than they were just a second ago in the develop module. When I switch back to the develop module, it goes back to the way it looked in the develop module. How might I fix this?

My computer guy got it working again, but my hundreds of files (images, video clips, titles, audio clips) that I had stored in vspx2 library, so neatly organised, had disappeared. It became like it was when I first bought it. Everything was gone from the library, though they were still on hard drives. scattered everywhere.

Lost the action bar on bottom of the screen totally and the information that used to oocupy a column on the left. This situation makes it impossible to switch to the Editor.
When I start from the Editor screen all is normal. I already re-installed the program without resolving the problem.
Assistance is needed to restorew to the original installation
I cannot get the Adobe TV videos to play--even the ones in my library--all I get is a black screen--I have been ay from Adobe TV for several months--what has changed and how can I view the videos?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have 28,485 photos in one Lightroom catalogue, but it appears to have lost them all. Everything has a question mark on it. I have not moved the photos and what it tells me is the last location is still the location - nothing has changed. If I go through the 'find missiong photos' routine, it will find them again. However, it only does that one folder at a time, even with the 'find nearby photos' ticked, and there are hundreds of folders. I can't go through all of them manually, and don't understand why it has done this when I haven't moved any of the photos. I have other catalogues that are working normally, and I don't want to start again because of losing all my selections and collections.

Now when I look through the master files in the hierarchy, ALL of the edits are lost, including color labels, starring, flagging, etc. The only images that were not affected are any duplicates that I converted to black and white.I swear I did not change a thing with the catalog or moving files on disk etc. Can I import from an older backup of a catalog to restore my edits?

Yesterday, I opened a catalog and edited a couple hundred images. I applied a preset at import, made a variety of changes, cropped, applied color labels, and the Pick flag. When I was done, last evening, I closed down Lightroom normally, as I do every day.
I did NOT write all my changes to the files on disk, which I normally do at the end of editing, but not ALWAYS...
This morning, I started Lightroom, opened the same catalog, and NONE of my changes from yesterday were preserved. Nothing crashed, nothing closed abnormally, NOTHING unusual happened before, during, or after yesterday's editing. I closed Lightroom and rebooted the system. Reopened, no difference.
I went to the catalog partition and looked in the previews folders. There are MANY previews/files that show changes from yesterday, but in Lightroom I have NONE of what was done... White balance is back to "as shot", ALL the basic, detail, and other changes in develop aren't present, no Pick flags, no color labels, no NOTHING... In the preview files, there are only 45 files changed with today's date (I haven't touched anything, yet), but there are 1104 files changed yesterday, so there are changes in there, but they're NOT showing up in Lightroom.
how I can get the changes to show in LR again?
I'm going to have to go back through and redo all the changes because I don't have time to wait, but is there some way to FORCE Lightroom to read the catalog and previews and put the changes back? Or some other way to recover the changes (I'm presuming the changes actually ARE in the previews)...
As you can see, I am in a frantic stage. I just finished editing through close to 800 photos of a wedding that I recently shot. After I finished editing them I went to the floder location, in Windows, not Lightroom 3 (huge mistake), and I made a folder inside of that folder called "raw". I selceted all of the photos and then moved them into the that folder. So, the files were in weddings/021812/ and I put them in weddings/021812/raw/ . When I went to Lightroom, of course it said that the files were offline. Instead of finding the missing folder, I clicked "synchronize folder" and pointed towards the "raw" folder. I noticed that the images were importing without their setting and I cancelled the synchronization. I went back to windows and moved all of the photos back to their original folder and now when I try to "update folder location", the photos do not show up in Lightroom.
View 13 Replies View RelatedI was recently reading on a Nikon Forum where a writer stated that some data is lost when converting to DNG in Lightroom.
Every compression algorith is flawed if a single bit is lost and the original can not be recreated. Since the DNG converter must know about your camera model and it actually converts the NEF into an image before compressing the image, AND you can not, after converting to DNG convert back to original NEF, it is to me obvious that it is indeed a lossy compression, not just 'simple' data compression like zip, tar or whatever other type of data compression you want to compare with, which is truly lossless.
The Nikon lossless compression works entirely on data compression principle, preserving every bit and recreating every bit of data when you edit the raw image, and that can not be done once the image is converted to DNG. That is why many people, who use DNG, also preserve the original NEF, which in my opinion, is a totally pointless work flow. The only reason I can see to use DNG is the ability to share the image with somebody else who is not able to edit NEF, but I might as well use TIFF in that case.
The DNG converter must have knowledge of the camera model concerned, and be able to process the source raw image file, including key metadata to be able to convert and compress. A real lossless compression algorithm NEVER looks at the contents of the data because it is totally irrelevant for the converter to know what type of data you convert and try to compress, since it is based on mathematical patterns and statistics only.
I look at DNG like I look at PDF. A Word document, especially with photographs in it, can be converted to PDF and it may look like you have not lost anything, but yes, you have lost a lot actually and you can never ever recreate the original Word document with the same quality like you have had in your original.
Went to export a picture, entered the information, clicked " export" and Lightroom disappeared. Recovered it or so i thought. The title bar now reads "Ice caves 2014-Adobe Lightroom 3, and all my pictures are missing.

When I went back to the original folders (on an external hd) those CR select files were missing / a gap in the photo sequence now exists and I cannot locate the originals regardless of searches.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI had a folder of images in my catalog containing .cr2 and .xmp that I retouched in LR4, I then converted these images to .dng, throwing away my original files. Now when I go to that folder in LR5 (upgraded from LR4), all of my ratings and previous retouches are gone, as all I have is the original raw images in .dng format. I'm guessing tihs is because I didn't or LR5 didn't save my modifications to the sidecar files, before the conversation. Fortunately, I have backups of the original .cr2 & .xmp files and they (or the LR4 catalog) hopefully contain the retouches. With this in mind, what's the best way to reimport the .cr2 & .xmp files, and reconnect them to the same folder in the catalog?
Should I remove the .dng files, restore from backup to the folder and expect LR4 to see everything? Or do I need to import the images back into the catalog? Did converting to LR5 update my catalog, and do I need to restore the previous LR catalog too?
Today when i started LR it acted like it was the first time again. it asked me for my country, serial number and registration info again. Once it started I found that all of my preferences, identity plate settings and things like that are gone. All of my photos are still there but something changed.
View 7 Replies View RelatedMy kids were playing with my PC and accidently renamed my main storage drive. I renamed the drive and didnt think much of it until I opened Lightroom.
It has obviously lost the link with my catalog and is now asking to upgrade to catalog to work with LR4. I am concerned that if I go with this option I will lose all the the changes I have made to my images.
I have 55000 photos in the catalog so this would be pretty bad. I have been importing all of my files as DNG for quite a few years now and I am sure I had it set in preferences to embed changes into the DNG Files.
I am running LR4. I was using LR and installed LR4 in its entirerity not as an upgrade. However, I deleted some folders using LR. However, I noticed that a fairly large amount of keywords are missing. The interesting thing that some of the missing keywords were between a large group of folders that the keywords remained intact.
For example, 2013_01_02 thru 2013_09 keywords included, then 2013_08_12 thru 2013_11 key were are missing.
Is there anyway that I can recoup the keyword from the back up files? If so, how do I go about it.
