View 7 RepliesI'm not new to modeling, but new to Maya. I'm trying to extrude a group of faces, but it is making me extrude them at the same angle they are at in the model(local I think). How do I change the axes to extrude the faces straight up instead of at the angle they are at?
I know this is easy in Max, but I can't find it in the Help File of Maya.
I was wondering if there is a way to create a group of vertices, edges or faces and somehow create a reference point or attach them to some kind of locator so they can be referenced at a later point. I want to be able to select a group of edges, model them and then move on to another task within Maya and have some kind of reference point so I can go back to the original group and not have to select them individually every time I want to work on that group of edges, faces or vertices, is this possible? I will post a picture shortly to this post so you can see an example of a specific group of edges that I would like to set a reference point or locator for.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI would like to insert the group of faces below into a larger image with a black background. I would like to give the impression that they are underwater and we are looking down on them through the water. (Imagine a setting where we are standing beside a stream and looking down into the stream, where we see the faces.) I find several tutorials for creating underwater scenes in which the camera position is underwater, but none in which the camera position is above and looking down into the water.

correct font style from 1071 group code in style table of dxf file ? I am able to read the Font name and font file name from group 1000 and 3 respectively, but not able to get the font style: whether it is Regular, Bold, Italic etc.
I know i have to decode the long values in 1071 group codes like: 50331682, 50372882 etc. But dont know how to arrive the Regular, Bold, Italic etc Font Style. How to decode this value ?
The requirement of above information to me is that i am making a Graphics viewer for a specific purpose which reads and displays Graphical Entities from DXF (ascii) file.
When i change from portrait too landscape the drawing still prints in portrait. What can i do too solve this?
View 9 Replies View RelatedUsing CS6, infrequently and inconsistently, the thumbnails are not accurate, appearing over exposed. This mostly occurs with jpgs, made from tifs/ psds, but on rare occasion has occurred in tif/ psd too. This is not a constant issue, and I cannot fathom a pattern. I can process several images at same time and only one might be affected. I have emptied my bridge cache, so that doesn't seem to contribute.

View 8 Replies View Relatedi got Inventor recently, and i've been working on a model of a longboard just to teach myself how to use the tools in Inventor. right now i'm trying to color areas for the griptape pattern so i drew the 2D pattern and projected it onto the 3D model of the longboard. but when i tried to split the faces of the model along the projected pattern only a few of the projected lines split the faces. for other faces i kept getting these errors:
Create parting line failed Crane.ipt: Errors occurred during update Split11: Could not build this Split The attempted operation did not produce a meaningful result. Try with different inputs.
This funcion is in Lightroom, but not in Photoshop. Is there a way how to see overexposed areas in Photoshop?
View 24 Replies View RelatedI'm trying out PSP X4 on the free trial. I'm on a Dell laptop with Windows 7. The camera is a Nikon D70s. I was trying to use UFRAW to transform the images from NEF format to PNG, and then GIMP to adjust and crop and resize. I've found GIMP to be really frustrating to use, so I'm dropping that for something else, hence the PSP X4 trial.
For the most part, I need it for digitally editing the documentation photos that I take of my paintings, and as well for managing our family photos. I've been using ArtRage for digital painting.
So mainly for my painting photos, I need to adjust the color balance to the gray card, adjust for lens distortion, crop, and resize.
When I open my folder of NEF files, the NEF files look really over exposed and washed out, especially compared to the PNG files that I made earlier using ufraw. They appear that way in both the viewing bar and when they're in the edit mode.
Does PSP have some kind of default viewing auto-adjustment going on? Am I missing something?
I noticed a weird preview bug in Lightroom 4.3 under Windows 7.
In Library mode, preview window set for single large preview:
1. Hit a portrait-oriented photo in the filmstrip below. The photo is previewed properly (sharply)
2. Hit a landscape-oriented photo in the filmstrip below. The photo preview is blurry
3. Hit another landscape-oriented photo in the filmstrip below. The photo is previewed sharply
4. Hit the landscape-oriented photo from step 2 again. The photo is previewed sharply
Every time I hit a landscape-oriented photo immediately after a portrait-oriented photo, the photo is previewed blurry. But if the same landscape-oriented photo is previewed immediately after another landscape-oriented photo, then everything is fine.
In other words, previewing a portrait-oriented photo screws up the preview for the next landscape-oriented photo. It looks like not every portrait-oriented photo has this effect. But the ones that do have this effect consistently in 100% cases.
I read the list of fixes in the upcoming 4.4 version and they mention the fix for blurry previews on Mac only.
Where can I find a Lightroom that turns a portrait into a sketch?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI can draw the marquee squares or elipse. I can draw them and constrain them and reposition them.
What I cannot figure out is once I have drawn the shape, let go of the mouse and want to THEN go and change the size & shape of the marquee, how to do it. How do I make the top/bottom of a circular elipse change? And then bring a side in? Do I have to keep re-drawing until I am perfect?
I have some images with some very tough lighting. I think the images were shot in the wrong camera ISO settings. So most of the pictures have 4-5 people in them and it is there faces that have this HUGE amount of overexposure going on. How can I isolate their faces to work on the exposure/lighting/color correction for their heads? And then select inverse(?) and correct the rest of the area?
I'm new to the site. I have been using adobe software for a good few years at this point, and i have been trying to solve a problem with my friends Photoshop and illustrator. every time she prints out work, its all off colour and over exposed like the colour preferences are messed up.
When printing a word doc or regular jpg images there is no problem. It only happens when trying to print in Photoshop or illustrator.

way to make an image such as this one look any better using Photoshop.
I only have Photoshop 7.0 by the way.
As you can see either side of the bridge is very bleached out and over exposed.
Using LR v5.3. 6000 images on my HDD and in the LR catalog.
I wish to search for all images oriented in the portrait view. I've checked the metatdata search options, and think I've determined that there is no criteria for an image in the portait orientation orientation.
When cropping a portrait format to landscape format (same aspect ratio) AND rotate the crop slightly, the crop resets after clicking away from the image and back. It does not happen if the crop is not rotated.

Desktop recording showing the problem!! URL....why is it so difficult to report a problem to adobe?
I have tested this in both LR4 and 4.1RC2. 3.x versions and below I never seemed to have a problem. Using Windows 7 x64 SP1.If I have an export preset that adds a text watermark, it works fine in any image that is either already smaller than, or gets resized to 3118 pixels in height. If I tell it to resize to 3119 pixels, then the watermark is never added.
I usually crop all my images to 8x10 ratio. And then dont resize them at all, so they stay at their maximum resolution. The watermark is simply a TTF Font, set to show up proportionally in the lower right corner.
Here is the 3118 pixels tall image. And here is when it is resized to 3119 pixels tall:

I have table, several chairs and some glasses and plates on table. I want to group them and instance that group, hundred of times. Problem is that I do not have materials implemented and I will not until client is satisfied with arrangement. I have problems later, even using many scripts I found, to add material to all instances. Only way is to select one by one.
Other thing is that there might be new objects added into set, so best way would be to add to master group and that will be added in instances of that group automatically, but that does not work with Maya.
how to explode group when group name not found
