Lightroom :: Save A Copy Of Raw Files For Security
Dec 28, 2011I am having an ongoing problem with Lightroom 3.6. Once I have loaded the photos into Lightroom and decide to save a copy of the raw files for security, the files in Lightroom are "Lost" and I have to delete them all out of Lightroom and from the harddrive where they still are and reimport from the external harddrive. I am sure this is not normal. I would like to backup my photos especially while travelling but have resorted to "risking" it because of this issue. It happened once and I thought I must have done something daft but I was recently travelling again and exactly the same issue reacurred. I was travelling with a professional photographer who uses Lightroom all the time and he did not understand what was going on - he had never had the problem. The only difference was that I use a PC and he uses APPLE. I am very anxious to address this problem because I think I am tempting fate not backing up my photos. I am using a DELL XPS L502X Direct Base 15 laptop with i7; 8GB dual-channel; 750 GB 7200RPM hard drive and is less than 12 months old and I am using Lightroom 3.6 64 bit.

Sep 6, 2013I store my images on an external hard drive. I recently upgraded from LR 3.6 on a windows XP machine to LR 5 on an iMac. I moved my catalogue fine, I think, as I can see all my images in LR 5 on the iMac. The problem is that I suspect there is some problem between the iMac and the external hard drive. I cannot import my RAW photos from my CF card into LR and onto the external hard drive. LR tells me "could not copy files to the requested location."
Is there some problem because I changed from windows to Mac? Problem bc I upgraded from LR 3.6 to LR 5?

Dec 27, 2013I am using Photoshop Elements 10 Version 10 (20110831.m.17215) and everytime I plug in a memory card to upload images it wants to upload every image on the card, even though it has previously uploaded images from that card, even though I have the "Copy New Files Only (Ignore Already Imported Files)" box ticked in the preferences Camera or Card Reader section. This gets very frustrating and time consuming when I have to go through the images every single time to uncheck the images that have already been uploaded.

Nov 12, 2012Im in the process of upgrading from CS5 Design Standard to CS6 DS. I had no problem copying my custom InDesign workspaces from the earlier version to the new version.
What I'm having a hard time with, is how can I get the batch files I use in Photoshop CS5 to copy over to the current version? I distinctly remember doing this when I moved from CS4 to CS5, but for the life of me, I can't remember how I did it, and I've been looking all over the Internet with no success.
I'm on OS 10.6.8 (I know it's old, but everything works beautifully, and I'm not gonna move to ML until I absolutely have to…)

Mar 5, 2008Used ACR to crop, straighten, adjust exposure, etc to a bunch of files. Used the File/Copy to command to extract images to new folder. To my surprise, the files were not cropped, straightened, etc in the destination folder. I know in ACR that "open image" will open the image in PS with all the changes but how can a bunch of files (including ACR changes) be copied to another folder?
Here is what I'm trying to do.
1. Let Bridge get jpg files from camera.
2. In Bridge, open files one by one in ACR, make adjustments (straighten, exposure, etc), and click "done" to save changes in same folder.
3. Once all files have been adjusted, copy files (tried using "copy to" in Bridge) to new destination folder.
4. Use PS batch command to run an Action to cropped photo to 600x900 (or 900x600) 72 pixels and sharpen photo. Do this for each source file and save to a new destination folder.
I'm okay with steps #1-2 but stuck on #3 as described above.

Oct 7, 2011How can I transfer .dwg files from my old computer (Vista OS) to a new computer (Windows 7) and not have them transfer as "read only"? I have copied the existing files from the old computer to a flash drive and then transfered them using the flash drive to the new computer. They open but as read only. I have tried transfering each folder individually and the files still open as "read only". I have checked the properties on the files and they are identical to those on the original computer and the flash drive. Yet when they transfer to the new computer they come in as read only. I have turned off the "read only" and asked it to override the read only file but as soon as I close and open the .dwg it is still read only. how to make these files active on my new computer?

I models a ballet bar assy in 2'6" width with derived sketch, then I used DA to copy all the files with new name in 4'. After that, I tried to open the new files, it crashed itself, no matter I open a part or assemble.
But if I changed the derived sketch name back to its original, everything is fine for new files.
I attahced the zip file, try it. If it crashes, just change file: BALLET BAR 4ft_SKETCH
to: BALLET BAR 2ft-6in_SKETCH
everything is fine then.

May 15, 2007My question is simply how do I change the default Save As Copy save type that Photoshop inflicts on you whenever you go to save files as .bmp, .png, etc. files?
I produce allot of images by first saving the original scan or photo as a .psd, manipulating the image, then saving as .jpg or .png for display purposes so having to delete the "copy" from my file names during a long work session gets very annoying.
I have already searched through the Preferences, checked registry file associations, studied the Preferences in Adobe Bridge + the only way I can see to fix this at the moment involves using a disassembler.

I am looking at getting a new computer and would like to know if I can just copy one of the CUIX files onto the new system and have everything work just as it does now. Is this possible, and which of the many CUIX files do I copy? Do I need to also copy the MNU, MNR and MNX files?
I’ve searched the CUIX files but can tell from the dates which are the newest.

It allows to save properly, on preview mode shows what is in the file, size of the file is correct as well. But when trying to open it opens as a blank page or is not opening at all.

Mar 5, 2013I have a folder that contains subfolders, then more subfolders. All these folders contain Inventor files. There are few different models there with drawings and related files...
I need to make an exact copy of the folder at different location in Vault. To use Copy Design tool, I would need to do it few times, as there are few totally separate files in the folders.
Now, is there a way of taking main folder with its all contants and just copying/renaming it to other location? It would save me lot of time.
