View 1 Repliesif I use the Straighten tool (first the ruler to mark out a horizon line, then click the Straighten Layer button), Photoshop used to straighten the picture, and then automatically crop it so that none of the extra canvas shows.
When I do that now, it just straightens it, and leaves me to manually crop the picture.
I have a large number of RAW photos from a Canon 7D which are destined for use in a Premiere Pro CS6 project.
I want to crop each of them to the preset 16x9 1920 x 1080.
What I would like to happen is that when I open the photo in the develop module and press the R button to open the Crop and Straighten tool, that the Aspect 16X9 crop overlay is selected be default, rather then the "original".
This would save me a lot of mouse clicks...
Or perhaps it's possible to assign a keyboard shortcut to that particular aspect so I can press R and then something else?
Can someone point me to the button or menu that has the straighten tool?
View 3 Replies View RelatedYou can easily fix crooked photos, zoom and crop with the fill tool.
The first step is to make sure you have the rulers enabled (window>bars>rulers) then click and drag a horizontal guideline from the ruler.
Select your photo and select the fill tool, you will see that your photo is actually a vector shape with a bitmap fill. Click and drag the outer fill handles to enlarge (zoom) the bitmap within the shape and rotate as needed to straighten the image. Move the cursor over the line of the fil handles until it changes to a hand then click and drag the photo around to adjust it's position within the shape.
When I click on the straighten tool and then click on a horizontal line on my photo, as I attempt to draw the line across the photo it freezes after a fraction of an inch and rotates the photo before I've drawn the line along the horizontal feature I'm using and it's always wrong. I had this problem with my downloaded trial version of Elements 11 and it appears on the version I purchased in the store today.
View 10 Replies View RelatedIn CS6 I have an image that was scanned in and is crooked. I use the Crop tool to drag the crop marks around the portion of the image I want to keep and I press the Check mark to do the crop.
It crops the image though it does not straighten it out. In previous versions of Photoshop it use to crop and straighten the image by cropping it. How do you now use the Crop tool to straighten an image?
When I am trying to straighten an image with the ruler tool, I keep receiving the following error:
Error 8800: General Photoshop error occurred. This functionality may not be available in this version of Photoshop.
- The command "Set" is not currently available.Line: 254-> app.activeDocument.activeLayer.isBackgroundLayer = false;
I don't understand why this isn't working because I have used this feature before.
Why did my cursor turn into a zoom tool with a photo sized to Fit; and how can I make it go back to a normal arrow?
It is only happening when the photo is sized to Fit. At other sizes, the cursor is normal.
This just started after I finished using the Adjustment Brush. I had used Cntrl + to zoom a photo while using the Adjustment Brush.
One of my students was using the Ruler tool to straighten an image. Her image kept flipping way off the canvas to one side, even though we checked to make sure her reference point for rotation was in the middle of the image (it was).
I can't duplicate the mistake or find any other complaints about/reference to it .
When in Edit mode and I click Straighten tool or Clone, say, the there is no windows dialogue box to say select horizontal or vertical correction or even the tick to apply. Where has it disappeared to? How do I restore it?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm new to Lightoom but learning quickly. One thing that has given me a problem is in develop module when I wish to straighten and crop, but need to do this zoomed in on the image. Can't judge the straightening otherwise. When I try this as soon as hit the straighten tool the image goes to fit to screen and I can no longer judge my straightening.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI hit the zoom tool to zoom in on my document. Say I want to zoom in 5 times. After zooming in once (clicking on the document once), the magnifying glass switches to the move tool cursor If I click again, slowly, it goes back to zooming.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm currently using Photoshop CS5 version 12.0.4. I recently updated my video driver, and now I'm having a problem with my zoom tool.
Basically, I used to be able to select the zoom tool, then click and drag to draw a "box" around whatever I want to zoom in on. This is the behavior I want.
Right now, however, if I select the zoom tool, the behavior is that instead of getting the "box," it just zooms as I'm dragging. That is, I click, hold down my button, and when I drag to draw the box, I instead end up zooming in (or out, if I drag the other way) of my image, until I let go of holding down the button.
I used the Zoom Tool I got a + and then if I wanted to Zoom out I would press Alt. It has now reversed so that when I click the Zoom Tool it opens as -. I have obviously done something but I don't know what it is. What do I do to make the Zoom Tool open as +.

When I save the image it saves it as the original size.
CS2.
does anybody ever find themselves getting locked in the Zoom tool? there's a few times when i'll do a bit of art, then zoom in or out, and after then i can't change from the Zoom tool. usually have to frick around pressing all kinds of keys and changing windows before it'll release. i thought it might have been XP's "sticky keys" feature but i've checked and all the options are disabled.
View 1 Replies View RelatedIn all other versions of PS I was able to zoom using either a scroll button on a mouse or when I was Mac a pinch gesture. In CS6 it seems that the only way to zoom is to select the zoom tool then there's a variety of different ways to zoom. Is there a way to not have to select the zoom tool first like it used to be? I am using a synaptics gesture touchpad, Windows 7. I am able to pinch to zoom in most all other applications.
Also, another issue I see in CS6 which is causing an extra step from old versions- the "window-arrange- tile all" had a button on the menu bar. how to get those buttons back on the bar.
How do I set the zoom tool in CS5 so it is dynamic? I don't like the little + and - symbols. I want to drag on parts of the image.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI am using Photoshop CS5.1 on a Windows 7 laptop. Its about 3-4 years old. But this problem has started only recently. Every time I use the section tool, it will almost always break my scrubby zoom and makes a weird, glitch looking box. (as shown)
It also drops the quality of my images slightly. Does this have to do with my video card?

I want to enlarge a small photograph with the zoomtool. And when I try to save it on the desired percentage of 100% or so it returns back to it's original size ;After I have saved it as a new copy (image) with a new name.I have tried all the possibilities to save it within the larger size. Even by printer. Everything was in vain. But once it is transferred to the documents files it goes back to the original size.
View 4 Replies View RelatedBug in CS4 - when starting a new selection (Marquee Tool), random sized boxes will appear BEFORE dragging and releasing the mouse button to define a selection. The boxes will often extend from the first mouse click to an image edge, but it's unpredictable. I need to release the mouse button, deselect (left click), and then start over again. Once this behavior begins, it can recur repeatedly, making marquee selections VERY frustrating. It also occurs with the zoom tool.
I´m running Photoshop CS4 on a brand new Dell Latitude (integrated Intel graphics) on Windows 7. The CS4 is also a brand new installation. I´ve tried a couple of different mice and also disabling Open GL. I had the same issue on other laptops I used over the years but not on all of them.Actually there was a thread on this issue a while ago but it seems to be closed now and no satisfactory answer was provided. I'm used to working with a zoom that increases by 10% per click below 100%, and 20% above that. Is there a way to duplicate this? Using a drop-down menu is just too slow.
View 14 Replies View RelatedUsing the zoom tool, there is a check box to select whether a zoom will also "Resize window to fit." Is there a way, using the _keyboard_, to select or toggle whether I want the window to resize when I use the zoom tool? I often want to go back and forth between asking for the resize and prohibiting it, but I don't want to have to go up with the mouse to click on that little check box all the time.
View 4 Replies View RelatedWith default settings, when zoomed in and a tool is dragged while active to the top of that zoomed in section it continues upward. Is there an option to change the tools behavior so that it stops when it reaches the top of what you're zoomed in to?
My second question regards the pixel grid. When you zoom in at different degrees it displays different grid patterns. Is there an option to only have it display a grid of horizontal and vertical lines?
