If I want to change that opacity to 60, I go to Lightroom->edit watermarks (or pick it straight from the export menu), select that watermark, and change the opacity to 60. Now I have an option to save the watermark. I don't want it to be a new one, I just want it to overwrite the existing watermark with the name "website". But when I type that name in, it says that's already in use. So now I have "website 2", "website 3", "website 4", etc which are all the same watermark with small changes, because it wouldn't let me overwrite any of them when I made a change.

May 28, 2013I'm new to Lightroom so I might be screwing this up somehow. I pick the Overwrite without warning option on the export function. I've noticed that it pops up the dialog saying X file will be replaced. I click Ok and go to my pictures library and only the unedited original is there.

Sep 22, 2012I have just edited a number of photos on my computer by adding ratings and keywords. I tried to export them to an external hard drive, so I could free up space on my computer, but I discovered that copies of those photos already existed on the external HD. I selected the "overwrite" option, but the ratings and keywords didn't copy over from the computer versions to the hard drive versions. Is there a way of doing that?

Lightroom :: 5.2 Installation Fails - JavaScript Warning
Oct 12, 2013I've tried to install Lightroom 5.0 and, just now, Lightroom 5.2. The installer fails with a warning: "Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 5.2 can't be installed on this disk. An error occurred while evaluating JavaScript for the package." Not exactly clear. It also displays a warning for my primary drive and for the installer volume.

Apparently the Lightroom installer is complaining about the amount of disk space available. The drive I'm trying to install it has 134 gb of space available.

Apr 6, 2013Asus motherboard, i7, 930. 24 gig Kingston HyperX ram. Windows 7 Professional 64 bit. 5 SATA hard drives: 3 are WD 7200s; Driive C is a Plextor SSD and Drive G (where LR and Photoshop are installed), is an Intel SSD.

I've had LR 3 and 4 and 4.1, 4.2 and 4.3. I have several hard drives. All the LR programs are installed on my G drive.

This time when I installed the update to 4.4, it did install on the G drive, but instead of creating a folder in Program Files, all the files, including the executables, simply installed in a long long row under Program Files and under the folders for the previous versions of LR. It did indeed install 4.4, but it's a mess and I can't figure out why there was no folder created.

When going into LR my copyright is gone and all the various styles of copyright I'd created in the Watermarks folder are unavailable. I also have 2 Nik Filters and 2 Topaz filters - they too are unavailable from the upgrade to 4.4. I also had a plugin for Zenfolio which is also missing and I can't find any plugin folder. Where is the plugin folder supposed to be?

It has never been clear to me which folders are supposed to reside on the same disk as the main LR program and which folders can be kept on another drive. Perhaps this is part of why I lost so much information.

I do have backups and I've been able to retrieve a lot - but I would like to be able to have the correct folders in the correct directories and drives. For example, when I updated to the new camera raw and dng, it was installed on my drive C, as it usually is. But the LR 4.4 files installed in a big list, although fortunately on the correct drive. And I have to reset all my settings, all my watermarks, my plugins and my filters.

Why did this happen and what can I do to repair it properly both for the best functioning of LR 4.4 and to not have this repeat itself with the next upgrade.

When I later realize I made a drafting mistake and want to overwrite it, when I "Plot" it says the file is in use or write protected or something of that nature so I have to PDF it as "New File B" and then manually delete "New File A" and then rename "New File B". Sep 16, 2012Ever since transferring all my files to a new computer, I have been unable to permanently overwrite any images opened in Gimp 2.2 nor 2.6. Worse, any image or even folder created through Gimp does not show up in the Windows directory folder. (but, strangely does if viewed through Gimp itself...)
The images are still changed from the last time were I last left off, but on rare occasions, usually after altering Windows User Controls, the images revert to the appearance of when they were uploaded to the computer(around 12/17/11 according to the files). Luckily, they revert back to my last known save (Yesterday) if a System Restore is initiated.
The images in question are .GIF images and they were imported from Windows Xp to 7.(whom I highly suspect is the problem) The Gimp version I use is 2.2.

Jun 9, 2012I'm trying to make an image with 2 layers: one is a circle that I'm using as a background (and everything outside the circle is transparent) and the other is a selection that I've copied that I want to paste over the background. Is there a way to make it such that the selection I'm pasting will only cover the background image and if any parts of the selection that I'm pasting go outside the background image into the transparent parts of the image that the transparent section will remain transparent?
I've been doing it an ad hoc way of just erasing parts of the layer that I'm using to paste and checking for transparency underneath but that's pretty time consuming. I assume there's a better way?
Also, vice versa: is there a way so that if I have a selection that has transparent sections that I paste over a background, that the selection I'm pasting will have it's transparent sections not overwrite none transparent sections of the background? I mean, outside of using magic wand to select everything except the transparent sections and just pasting the parts I selected using magic wand over.

Aug 31, 2011In ACA2012, we cannot use the Publish command to overwrite an existing DWF file of same name, for instance you publish a set, then need to re-publish and overwrite the earlier version. We get an error message that the DWF is currently open in another program...when it clearly is not open anywhere and Design Review is closed. We have several servers running different versions of microsoft server, but the results are the same to any of them.
We do NOT get an error message when publishing/overwriting to the C: drive, only a network path. Also, if we use the Print command instead of Publish, well it only does the current page but it DOES allow the networked DWF to be overwritten.
I am puzzled by what could be the difference in that Publish will not overwrite a networked DWF file yet Print will?
This has never happened to us in previous versions of ACA or Design Review.
