Lightroom :: Pictures Don't Show Up?

I just installed the trial of LR3 and I'm already having problems. When I try to "import" photos, my pictures don't show up. All that shows up in the preview thumbnails are grey boxes where my pictures should be. LR acts like it is loading my pictures, but when the pictures should be fully loaded, there are only grey boxes. If I hit "uncheck all" they will begin to re-load, but still the pictures will not show up. If I go to "Develop", the levels and such of the photo will show up and I can alter them, but it doesn't do anything because the photo I am editing is just a grey space! I tried altering the preferences for the file types to see if that may be it, but the pictures still did not show. I also tried using different folders of photos, but they all did this weird grey space thing.

I imported some pictures to who knows where?
So where is "show all in catalogue" so i can survey quickly?
Otherwise I'm going to have to go thru every single folder?

I'm trying to import pictures show in raw from my D700 into Lr, but it keeps giving me an "unsupported or damaged" error. This is the second time this happens, the first time I just gave up and imported as .JPG. I've tried importing them from the camera, and from a flashdrive. Neither worked. Running Lightroom 5 on OSX 10.8.4.

I imported some pictures into LIghtroom 5 with the SAME jpg numbers as a prior import. The first import consisted of pictures from Trip 1 folder on my hard drive, the second import was from Trip 2 folder on hard drive. I see the Trip 1 and Trip 2 folders in LIghtroom 5, but am experiencing problems with emailing and exporting pictures, getting messages such as "Missing file" or "Export does not show up. Were there problems with the import?

I am trying to download pictures in folders and sub folders into the LR catalog. The import brings all the pics in the subfolders over but when II click on the parent folder it shows not pictures or number of pictures in it.

I have installed Elements 11 and converted the catalog from Elements 10, but when I open Elements 11 organizer, my pictures don't show up. How do I find them and get them to open in the version sets and stacks I already have?

I was dpoing a search on a tag, and I must have hit the wrong button. I can't see any of my pirtures in my catalog. I tried to re-import, but Organizer says that all of the pictures are already in my catalog. Wht did I do, and how can I get my pictures back?

I imported pictures to Adobe Lightroom and exported them to my memory card. Now my memory card is broke! Is there any way to retrieve those pictures from Lightroom. Right now they are saying missing.

Upgraded from 9 to 11. I have the old tags show up on the right but no pictures. When I look and open up the pictures they show the tags. Am I missing something?

I'm new to photoshop. Why did some of my altered pictures not show up in the file? They appear as a blue file with PSD on it. You can see the pictures when you click on them in Photoshop elements 10 but not in your file.

With my Imac (Osx 10.8.3) and L 4.4 the Pictures folder is frozen. I can acces pictures but I can not import new pictures or delete or remane or move. It looks like the Pictures folder is locked. I can do everything if I move up the the "Myname" Folder. both version L4.4 and Imac are in French.

I just got lightroom and when I try to upload my old albums from my hardrive (all taken with the same camera) not all of them will load and the importing bar in the top left freezes.

I imported 146 photos into l/r4, the catalogue i calld eden, the catalogue then came up as eden.lr cat-journal.when first imported i saw the images,now when I open catalogue it says invalid or corrupt.

The Canon 6D produces HDR photos from 3 intermediate pictures, and it discards the intermemdiates. The exif data on Lightroom (5) does not seem to identify the HDR photos, and I cannot find any other way to get Lightroom to identify HDR photos. The HDR photos are generally recognizable, visually, but it would still to have Lightroom identify them.

I have been a user of Aperture for some time now and finally decided to make the switch to Lightroom and all in all i am very impressed with the whole program!
I am wanting to set up a way of 'dynamically' or at least as dynamically as possible sharing certain folders containing family images with our wider family, in the UK and overseas, rather than reinvent the wheel i wanted to see what ways people have found to do it..

I’m trying to organize all my files in lightroom 4.0 and my computer.
Lightroom aside, the way I have my photos organized are like this. Follow along with the photo!
In the My Pictures folder I have a few folders for each year. You open up a year, like 2011 and it opens up each photo session I did. For example if I went to the beach on March 25 I would make a folder titled March 25, Beach Shoot. Inside that folder would be all of my pictures from the beach.
Well in lightroom I imported everything and it all shows up as various folders. There are no years, all the years are crammed into one section in the module. The folders section under my C drive.
Its really hard to find certain photos from shoots. I dont care to look through shoots from 2008, 2009, 2010 and 2011 when I went on a shoot yesterday, in 2012.
What is the best way to organize all my pictures from various years? How do others do this? I bought a Lynda membership for their video lessons and took a 5 hour course on how to organize Lightroom and the guy in the video was dealing with like 150 shots. I’m dealing with almost 20,000.

Have LR5.3 on a Windows 7 machine. Have SSD for programs and usual HD for pictures. Want to have LR catalogues on my SSD rather than default Pictures folder (on the HD). How do I move them to SSD and have LR find them and use that as a default hereafter?

I'd like to purchase Lightroom 4. I used the Beta version and now have the Testversion in use. Since I'm using a Mac Computer and and iPad, I'd like to continue to USe iPhoto to share my pictures with the TV and other Apple products. Unfortunately I couldn't figure out a nice workflow - means how to import pictures in raw, work with them in Lightroom and than finally export as jpg and ideally import automatically into iPhoto. Not sure how to do it and I'm wrestling with the iPhoto libary.

Pictures do not show up in catalogs. Older pictures are there but newer imports appear as grey boxes. I can click in them in develop mode and work on them so they are in the program. After working on them they appear in the catalogs until I develop other pics at which point they switch to the grey box again

In the map module, I put a selection of pictures on a location, but I didn't find the way to drag the group to adjust the location.
This can be done with an individual picture : see screen cap below.
But it cannot be done with a group.
I tried several usual modifier key (alt, shift...) but all I can do with a group is navigating through the map.
Plus when the thumbnails of the groupe are displayed, one cannot cycle back from the first picture to the last one. See screen cap below :

I use Lightroom 4.0 64bit (Camera Raw 7.0) on a Windows 7 Home Premium.
My Problem is that the pictures are darker after loading in the library than while loading. I prefer the brighter version than the darker, so what is the problem?
