View 7 Replies View RelatedI tend to keep adding images to my memory card until it is nearly full. I then reformat the card for future use. I do this for a couple of reasons, firstly if any of my image or backup file fails, I've got the option of downloading the image from the card again. Secondly, I like to ensure that all the storage locations on the card are used equally, to even out "wear."
I download using a Sandisk 'Extreme' USB2 card reader. Opening the Lightroom Import dialog, I have the box marked "Don't import suspected duplicates" ticked. I'm downloading a card which has a lot of previously imported images, plus a number of new images. Previously, the suspected duplicate images have been greyed out and only the new images are highlighted and only the new images download.
Just recently, despite the "Don't import suspected duplicates" box still being ticked, none of the already downloaded images is greyed out and ALL the images will download. I haven't made any other changes to the program or preferences, so I'm a bit puzzled as to exactly what is going on. I now have clear the check box for ALL the images and then just select the new images for import.
I am using LR 4.4 with Windows Home Premium 64-bit.
When I send an LR photo for editing in PS CC, some of the filters are greyed out: artistic, brush strokes, distort, pixelate, sketch, and texture. but when I open the photo directly in PS, they are there.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI've done this hundreds of times, but now the "Import from DVD/DVD-VR" is greyed out. It's funny that the DVD I'm trying to import was created by VS about 6 months ago. I did need to wipe the hard drive and reload the software about a month ago. In the "Capture" pull down the "Capture Video" and "DV Quick Scan" are not greyed out but the "Import from DVD/DVD-VR" is greyed out.
This is VideoStudio6 upgraded to VideoStudio 9, so the software is not new.
I have a problem with my PC. I cannot view or import video in Lightroom.
I have tried both Lightroom 4.4 and 5, with same results.
I have video in these formats: mts, mov and mp4, and they all have the same problem.
I properly have done some "adjustments" of my PC, but cannot find out what has caused the problem.
Description:
In the Import window, I see this message "Preview is unavailable for this file". After I press Import, I get this message: "Video support is disable"
For those movies already importer, I can move the cursor over the movie, and view "fast replay" of the movie. However, the play button do not show.
Pressing spacebar only zoom. As do double-click. I can view the videos using QucikTime or Media Player.
I am using Windows 8 64 bit.

You will be able to view and download the entire file at the following URL (since this site only allows 100kb files):
The goal is outlined in the above link but to recap:
1. Remove greyish / silver color
2. Adjust black color (for example: so that groom's hair shows up as something other than a chunk of dark color).
3. Fix Blemishes.
Is it possible to import BR photo library into Lightroom 4? ( PS Version 5)? If not what is the best solution to organize or combine current folders with LR?

View 3 Replies View RelatedWhen I double click on a base view - the option to change view orientation is greyed out. So at the moment, if I make a boo-boo with my base view - I have to delete it and create a new one to get the right orientation. Is this a setting I've missed somewhere - or is it normal behaviour?
When I read in this file: [URL]
It states:

Lr 4.3 ACR 7.3 - unable to view preview files in the import window and/or raw files in the Library?
When will this camera be supported?
So far the only way I have discovered is to laboriously click the checkbox on each image I want to import. It seems that one should be able to select a range with one click (e.g. holding down Shift and then clicking the last image in the range) or by using a context (right-click) menu. No dice.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI am using lightroom 4 and 5 on a Mac. Although preview of photos to be imported is shown I only get the message that the import could not be carried out (1) and the option to save the data as a :txt file. This was with Lightroom 4. It started first with being unabel to import directly from the camera, then I swithched to inserting the SD card directly into the laptop. This worked only after first downloading to the desktop. Later this didn't work either. I thought the program had become defect. Preview still worked and export is fine. I therefore updated to Lightroom 5 in the hope that this would solve the problem. However everything remains the same. Import still doesn't work with photos of any format. e.g. jpg or RAW.

When I try to open it in my documents it is a lightroom link and sends me to lightoom. the same thing happens with photos I take and import from my card. they are not a proper jpeg they have a lightroom icon and no matter what I do clicking on the photo takes me to and opens up lightroom.

View 7 Replies View RelatedI run a HP DV6 Laptop with Core I7 and Windows 7. While editing my photos my computer appeared to over heat (which is a recurring issue that I'm working to resolve) during mid-post production. Upon restarting my computer, and when I accessed the same photos, I got a very lengthy loading icon when I clicked on a photo under the "Develop" tab. This problem recurred and in attempt to resolve the problem I decided to delete the library and re-import the files. Upon re-import, I cannot view all the photos in the library grid view. I'm not sure if my files are now corrupt from the sudden crash or is it just a data issue with LR?
I've attached a screen shot of what the problem library looks like...
Should I rename my photo files prior to import to Lightroom 3? The filenames are disorganized on Windows 7.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI have LR 3.6 and have created a catalog of pictures from a ski trip I took last year. All of these pictures and the LR catalog are in one folder on my hard drive. After sorting, deleting and retouching quite a few pictures I now notice that one picture is missing from the library. If I open the folder in Explorer (Win 7) I can see the picture, and Windows Picture & Fax Viewer will open/display this picture so it appears the file itself is fine.
However, I cannot get this picture into the library for some reason. When I choose File>Import Photos this one picture doesn't show up in the list of photos. It's as if Lightroom can't see this picture for some reason.
Oh, and I don't know if it matters, but there is a movie clip with the same filename but a different extension (obviously) that does show up in the library and the import dialogue. The picture filename is DSC_0001.jpg, the movie filename is DSC_0001.mov.
Windows 64, i7, 12GB RAM..I don't seem able to create a new folder manually on photo import. This still works fine on the same PC with LR3.6.
View 6 Replies View RelatedIn trying to import photos, first form a DVD and also from a CF card reader. The error message on my DVD says that there is an initialization error (OK, OK , the DVD with photos was created on another laptop, running on Windows Vista, so it may be a Read Only file). Aside from that, however, my CF card with photos does not even show up on LR3.
I have gone to System Preferences and changed the way I want CDs and DVDs to show. In both cases I changed it to "Open in LR3". Is that wrong?
Here is a Screen shot of LR3 Library when tryingn to import photos. No (CF card) drive is shown.

Why is Photomerge Panorama greyed out with the trial version?
View 3 Replies View RelatedHave just installed Windows LR4 trial, told it to Import files from my photo collection in a folder + subfolders on a network attached storage (NAS) unit. Windows Explorer tells me that there are 10,308 files in 408 folders in the main folder, totalling 38.8gb but on scanning the folder prior to import LR4 tells me that there are only 9,612 photos.
My photo collection folder contains only photos and no other file types.
Why is there this discrepancy ? I've searched around to see whether there is some hidden filter that is excluding certain photo files but cannot find anything of that nature.
I am new to GIMP.
I want to import a photo, trace geometric shapes over the photo like circles and lines, and then remove the photo. I have a very basic understanding of LAYERS. I have viewed a few tutorials. But I don't know how to import a photo or how to get rid of it once I have drawn the geometric shapes over it.
