Lightroom :: Import Button Remains Grayed Out When Adding Existing Folder To 4?
Apr 23, 2012
I'm following the steps in the following link from Adobe:
[URL]
The final step, after selecting the folder I want to add, is to select Import. Except, the Import button remains grayed out. I'm not sure what to do in order to select Import and add the folder I already have.
i select a folder of files to import but i cant import t hem, the button isnt active.
it says i already have these photos imported. if so how do i edit or see them.
i uninstalled and re-installed the software and it seeme dto start from scratch, in that when i import the folder the photos appear in the develop area to choose from.
however next time i open the application i cant see them and import doesnt work unless i uninstall again.
How do I stop LR5 from adding a dated sub folder every time I import photos. This just started and I can't find a way to turn this off. What ever date photo were taken LR makes a folder with that date when importing.
I now have xscanimage running from a command line. I added a soft link from .gimp-2.6/plug-ins/ to /usr/bin/xcanimage and restarted gimp. In File/ Create the option for xscanimage remains greyed out. What must I do to make it active?
In expert mode under the Layaout Tab at the bottom of the screen I can see seven options for layoutas of up to four pictures - all work except the "all floating" option which remins greyed out - what do I do to bring it into use - it is probably the most useful option !
I’ve moved the folders for LR 3.6 to an external drive. Now the folder names are grayed out and, rather than a file count on the right hand side, there is an ellipsis (“…”). I’ve tried “synchronize folders” to no effect. Running on OS X 10.7.2 with a Mac Pro.
I'm trying to import photos into LR3.3, and the thumbnails are grayed out, as is the import button. The photos come from two other cameras -- one Canon Elf, the other I'm not sure. I received them through dropbox, and they open fine with Bridge and Photoshop CS4.
Just noticed that all of my folder titles are grayed and not white and the photo quantity numbers don't show.....everything is still in place, what gives? I am new to lightroom and starting to panic!
There is a folder on my hard drive that does not appear in the list of folders in the import dialog. I have tried expanding all the other folders around it (my photos are filed by date of capture) to see if it was somehow imported as a subfolder. It is simply not there. I can find and open it and access all the pictures in Photoshop Elements but not in Lightroom 4.
My old folder structure built up over years before I started using Lightroom has hundreds of subfolders and is entirely logical. I can import all the photos into lightroom, but not the folder structure.
I don't see an existing folder in my library. I try to import photos into lightroom, but it indicates that they are already imported and they supposedly exist in a particular folder. However, that folder is not showing in my library. Is there a way to correct this? The photo is there but they only way I can see it is to search for it and it will appear.
I had this problem in LR3 so I decided to upgrade to LR4 thinking it will be better but same result. I can't import at all. Import Photos and Videos Button in the dropdown is grayed out. Import button is also grayed out! I can't do anything!
I'm having such a hard time adding several photos at once to an existing collection. Not sure what I'm doing wrong as I am following the instructions. First I select all the photos by clicking shift and the 1st photo, then I select the last photo. All photos I want to add are highlighted. But I can't drag all the photos at once. When I try to drag, the 1st photo is only selected. What is are the correct click, drag and drop key strokes to get it right? Dragging and dropping one photo at the time is just not feasible.
since today the import button of my lightroom 3.6 is inactive. don't know what happened. i installed a plugin but even after installing it, the button's still inactive.
I've been using Bridge for a bunch of years. I have a large amount of photos. They are all keyword in Bridge. I've created a hierarchy of keyword that works quite well and evolve naturally.I have approx 16-17 TB data distributed on 7 NAS servers. Works quite well.
The big pain with Bridge is that it isn't a very coool photo-database. LR on the other hand cool work like the photo-db. LR can reference photos on NAS servers and it has search mechanism and can function as photo-db.
I have a large bunch of photos with assigned keywords. Can I import these pictures in LR and have the keyword along?
Lightroom quit responding to the import command. I don't understand this as one day it was working fine, and the next, it has ceased altogether.

i have pictures on my desktop that i am trying to import into LR. On the import page, I have chosen source, destination and copy. However the import button at the bottom right is greyed out.
I can not import any photos using the impport button. I had the same problem with Lightroom 3.2 so I triued 4.3. Using Windows 8 intel i7 3.4 Ghz 12Gb Ram 256 Gb Samsung 830 Series SSD for catalog and installation of Lightroom. Pictures on another internal Hitachi HD
I have several hundred videos I have taken, either with a Canon SD800, Canon S95, Canon T2i or a GoPro.
New videos I take on this equipment works just fine when adding to Lightroom. But when I try to import older files, I get error: video file not imported with the quantity in parenthesis.
I have tried purging the video cache, I have tried task manager - disabling dynamiclinkmanager and dynamiclinkmediaserver. Occasionally I will be able to import one or two videos after doing this but then it hangs up again.
Running Win7, LR4.1.
I don't have anything else up and running when I do this.
Greetings: I'm a new user of PS CS3 trying to use the batch mode to process a recorded action on a folder of images. However, when I click file > automate > batch - the batch button is grayed out. I have reset PS preferences with no luck. My internet search on this did not turn up much. Hoping someone with experience or knowledge of this can help out?
I use window 7 64 bit so Lightroom installer install the 64 bit version for me. Everytime I click on the import button lightroom 4 would crash. I have try to create another catalogue, same problem.
I guess this is new in LR 4, but when I import, I select the folder I want the images imported to, but LR creates subfolders for each day, not what I want.
For example, I just imported from my CF card all the images shot this past weekend and ended up with four subfolders (2012-05-24, 2012-05-25, 2012-05-26 and 2012-05-27).
What I wanted was for all the images to go into one folder.
I have been having trouble burning DVDs from VideoStudio X4 so I reinstalled and put in Service Pack 2. Still no luck. When I go to share and then pick out Make Disc/DVD the project loads but I cannot go on from there. The NEXT button is grayed out no matter what I do.
I've just started working with Edge Animate and have been building some animated buttons for a website. My problem is that I can't publish what I've created, the 'publish' button is greyed out and I cant use it. I can access the publish settings without any problems.
Can I import (or create) default Lightroom settings from an existing document and save them? Make them a personal default set opening with all future LR catalogs?
